Here’s a blast from the past: former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer, who in his reelection bid ended up getting fewer votes than David Duke, is exploring a run for president. On Monday, he’ll be speaking to the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition alongside Tim Pawlenty, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Herman Cain.

I’ll defer to Quin on the merits of a Roemer candidacy, but this news made me wonder what William Donald Schaefer is up to.

We might as well exhume Harold Stassen.

It's a sure sign that Obama's in trouble.

I think Mayor Schaefer is dead. He was a great mayor (I lived in Baltimore during his term as mayor) but a terrible governor.

Maybe he'll select Melancon as his running mate, and then it would become the second coming of .......BATMAN and ROBIN!!!!!!!!

One "blast from the past" I would love to see run is Forbes. This guy has been right all along about the economy and much of our current troubles stemmed from a GOP president and congress NOT listening to Forbes.

The reports of his death have been greatly exaggerated

BTW: Buddy Roemer? You want a colorful Pelican State politician? Why not Edwin Edwards?
He's available.
Oh. Maybe that felony conviction disqualifies him -- that is if they can find the sentencing certificate. :~)

Oldefarte| 3.3.11 @ 1:50PM

Yeah, maybe Edwards and Duke will team up and run as the ........LOUISIANA DYNAMIC DUO!!!!!

Old Joe| 3.3.11 @ 2:35PM

Please Buddy, don’t embarrass our state even more. Just keep on making money in the banking industry.

PCC| 3.3.11 @ 7:13PM

So, Buddy Roemer is running for president? I guess Lyndon LaRouche wasn't available.

DLB| 3.4.11 @ 7:17AM

Wow... I didn't think anyone outside of Louisiana would even remember Buddy Roemer.

Ryan| 3.4.11 @ 8:43AM

And those of us who were inside almost want to forget...
