Michelle Goldberg wades into the Nir Rosen debacle:

I happened to be on Twitter when Nir Rosen, a journalist and fellow at New York University, was destroying his reputation on Tuesday. In a matter of minutes, he went from joking about Lara Logan’s assault in Egypt, to digging in and defending himself, to self-justifying semi-apology, to abject regret. It was appalling to watch, and it indicated that Rosen has deep, unexamined problems with women, particularly women who are his more-celebrated competitors.

Not the cleverest attack I’ve seen leveled against Anderson Cooper, but, okay, I take Goldberg’s point.

I’ll further add: You did know that the subtext of this whole sordid episode was Rosen v. Cooper, right? I mean, that’s what I gleaned watching Cooper’s unintentionally ridiculous grilling of Rosen the other night, anyway, wherein Lara Logan became a secondary character in a story about someone being mean to Anderson on Twitter. History repeats itself, I guess. Remember when we all initially presumed Katrina was about New Orleans, not a self-important middle-aged talking head crying on television?

Yeah, Whoops!
