The House Resources Committee
brings us some good news:
Federal Court Orders Obama Administration to Act on
Stalled Deepwater Drilling Permits
Calls permitting delays “unreasonable, unacceptable and
unjustified”
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the Obama
Administration’s de facto drilling moratorium in the Gulf
of Mexico was once again struck down in Federal Court. U.S.
District Judge Martin Feldman granted a preliminary
injunction requiring that the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management,
Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) act within 30 days on five
pending permit applications from Ensco.
“The court has now clearly found that the Obama
Administration’s refusal to act on permits is causing irreparable
harm to companies, families and people of the Gulf,”
said House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc
Hastings. “The President’s de facto
moratorium is destroying American jobs, hurting our economy and
forcing businesses to move overseas. With gasoline
prices rising, the Administration needs to resume American offshore
energy production now. I hope the Administration heeds this
ruling and acts swiftly to put people back to
work.”
The ruling states:
“Perhaps it is reasonable for permit applicants to wait
more than two weeks in a necessarily more closely regulated
environment. Delays of four months and more in the
permitting process, however, are unreasonable, unacceptable and
unjustified by the evidence before the court…The
plaintiff’s operations in the Gulf of Mexico are threatened with
endless disability. It has already sent a rig to French
Guiana; its contracts and skilled labor necessarily will
follow…Beginning to process permit applications will
restore normalcy to the Gulf region and repair the public’s faith
in the administrative process.”

This is why you want Republicans, not Dhimmicrats, appointing Judges. That is the most important domestic role of a President.

Why would Obama obey this court ruling anymore than he does those on Obama care? Or to put it another way, how many public service union votes does that judge have in his pocket?

Obama's administration has show no desire to follow judicial rulings that don't go his way. Is there any way for Congress to begin to impeach those administrators who violate judge's rulings (or can the judge throw the violator in jail for contempt)?

They Obama administration thinks court rulings apply to the rest of the citizens in this country, but not to him. Humm, the Judge may change his mind.

This is, of course, the second time Feldman has scorched the administration on their Gulf drilling policies. The first time he had to issue a contempt ruling to get their attention and still couldn't make Salazar act.
A couple of pieces of background might be of use here.
First, a little color as to local reaction to the case:

Next, another piece of this "permitorium" business - BOEMRE had said no permits could be issued in deep water until the industry came up with a system to contain a spill. On Monday, BOEMRE's head Michael Bromwich said they didn't have such a system. And today, the industry's consortium tasked with building one announced they'd done it.

This is the most ruthless, lawless and destructive administration in American history. Their treatment of the energy industry proves it.
