Green Jobs and Scam

As I noted previously, today The Nation and its camera-toting minions will be staking out the U.S. Chamber, Fox News, and surely some groups like CEI in seeking some media hooks as they pimp a silly book, co-incidentally advocating the President’s budget push and Senate hearing seeking massive increases in already bloated budgets for climatically meaningless ‘green jobs’/’clean energy economy’ schemes.

Student of the president know the latter as his ‘other ways to skin the cat’ now that cap-and-trade imploded, bringing down a bunch of elected Dems with it.

As I note here in testimony submitted for the record, this is a scam of scandalous proportions that no lawmaker or taxpayer should fall for. Discussions include China Syndrome; Not ‘New’, Not of ‘the Future’; Green ‘Census’ Jobs and the Green-Jobs Bubble; The German Model; The Broader European Experience; Spain; Expensive Waste; and an appendix of Recent Developments in Other EU “Green Economy” Programs.

Ah yes, Green jobs. That sink hole of federal lagresse that even puts Amtrack to shame. And just think, Texas just suffered a nasty series of blackouts due lack of fossil fuel (ie coal) burning power plants. It appears that there wasn't enough power to keep the natural gas pumping stations online when the temps fell below 20 deg F.

So, while we freeze our leaders are searching for ways to keep us even colder!

A news report that I heard once, and only once, was that 20% of the generating capacity was shut-down for routine maintenance (why you'd shut it down during a peak demand period is beyond me, do the maintenance in fall or spring) and two plants had to be taken off-line when water pipes froze. But your larger point is true - there isn't enough excess generating capacity and the money spent on wind/solar is utterly wasted.

Green Jobs = Welfare with better marketing

Ah, the green jobs scams. What better way to throw boatloads of money at companies who support your campaigns, such as General Electric and Solyandra. We used to call this fascism.

Just ask Spain how well the green revolution worked there. Last time I checked, they had 20% unemployment.

Green Job Opening: Job Title – Bird Dropping Technician. Individual will pick up dead birds under windmills.  Must be able to drive small electric golf cart and stab at same time.  Applicant must be willing to hide bird carcasses and not talk about work to anyone.  (Birds may not be used for food)
Green Job Opening: Job title - Blade Wiper Technician.  Person must be able to climb stairs and slide down a blade and land on a small trampoline.  Blades cannot be shut off while cleaning so cleaner will only be able to work when the wind isn't blowing, (should be minor problem) and only clean blades pointing downward.
These are entry level jobs that pay $500,000.00 a year.  However 96% of pay must be donated to political party of worker’s choosing. Receiving political party must be designated before individual is hired.
