I poked my head into the CPAC presser of the new Tea Party Review right after it started. Took me a second to realize that TPR Vice President William Owens was wrapping up an opening prayer/sales pitch. One contributor to the first issue described TPR as a magazine for “mama grizzlies, Joe the Plumbers, and bitter clingers.” Add to that “… and Allen West.” Tea Partiers have been criticized as being overwhelmingly white, but Owens (who is black) and company are endeavoring to change that image. The inaugural effort has the essays “The Year of the Black Conservative”; “New Year’s Resolution: Call out black Democrats who exploit race”; “Booker T. Washington and the Tea Party Movement”; and “Reaching out to new Americans (No, you don’t have to speak Spanish).” Interesting effort.

That's true, OF. But it's good to have conservatism finally start having an impact with Blacks. Blacks have been on the Democrat Plantation too long and it has brought ruination to many cities and Black families - and this culture bleeds into the public as a whole. Blacks are more conservative than they vote - so it's important to highlight these guys and gals brave enough to stand up against the Democrat Race Machine. I say, Shout it from the rooftops! Not really. We are all fighting it and we are losing. The federal government controls the workplace by forcing companies to hire minorities and women.
In that respect, both parties were on board when all this nonsense passed. As far as highlighting someone's race. That's a ridiculous policy at best, and poor judgment in any event.

I agree on the meat of yours and OF's observations. Using race as a weapon of get-even-ism is wrong and that is what we are fighting - along with every other Liberal shibboleth. But I have to side with David W here. Blacks have been told that Conservatives are just racist honky crackers lookin' to keep ya down and kill your kids with drugs and free guns - or some such nonsense - for so long and so often that its a law in most Blue States. Nothing is further from the truth, but I - as a racist honky cracker - can't tell Blacks that. But I can support Black Conservatives who can spread the conservative and free-market philosophies. It's not race-bating to stand behind (promote, even) conservative Blacks. Republicans get all mealy-mouthed and bumble around trying to sound like dumbass Democrats talking to Blacks because Democrats have done such a good job with the Race Bate. And the MSM sure ain't gunna toot our horn. So we must. Don't see the harm here, guys.

You are BOTH correct, but IMO the solution lies in reforming public education where blacks becomes truly educated [which will them give them the mental tools to earn their own financial living, as opposed to governmental dependence]. Non-discrimination laws is [and should always be] crutial and need to be enforced in the maximum, but the political correctness promoted by liberals in effect says that blacks can be inferior credentials-wise and be put in front of the line because of racial factors [and that is WRONG]. People like Allen West and Clarence Thomas should be applauded and honored rightfully because of their earned accompolishments in life [not those who skate by using government force as a weapon to obtain their unearned things in life]!!!!!

It's not necessarily PC BS. I was happy when I saw the video from Alfonzo Rachel (who is black). The more vocal conservative blacks become the less able pseudo blacks like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and other race baiters (especially Pres. Obama) can claim to speak for the black community. This can prove to other blacks that there is hope by ignoring the crap that comes from the liberal "whites" and the true uncle toms and voting with conservative (and non RINO Republicans).

Hmmm. About money? I guess. I look at it as a respect for private property. That has a lot more to it than just money. It entails respecting peoples rights and freedoms to enjoy life and pursue happiness. Respect for protecting those rights. So I guess you can say it's about money. But it goes deeper than just cash on hand.

Is there really anyone out there who believes blacks will ever vote for a conservative? Look at the numbers, talk to a few black people, it's never going to happen. It is possible, perhaps, for conservatives to appeal to socially conservative hispanics and Asians, but blacks will never leave the democrat plantation, Steele proved that when he ran for governor.

I disagree, but the solution involves they're becoming truely educated through a reformed public educational system that allows then to stand on their own two feet. Conservatism is largely about MONEY, and if educated blacks [like everyone else] are concerning about governments' confiscation of their earned monetary assets, then they also will join the conservative ranks!!!!!!!

Liberalism is ALL about forcibly extraction of income earners' assets by [now] Democrat politicians in charge of governmental operations to their indigent constituents in order to obtain these indigents' votes in return for same. Conservatives believe in the necessity of individuals financially supporting themselves, whereas liberals believe in extracting individuals' income through governmental taxiation and providing same to indigents.
