James Clapper Must Resign

So after making the spectacularly stupid statement that the Muslim Brotherhood is "largely secular" (!!!!!),  Politico reports, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper has begun "backing away" from his statement.

Reports Politico:

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper is backing away from comments he made Thursday calling Egypt's branch of the Muslim Brotherhood movement "largely secular."

"To clarify Director Clapper’s point -- in Egypt the Muslim Brotherhood makes efforts to work through a political system that has been, under Mubarak’s rule, one that is largely secular in its orientation -- he is well aware that the Muslim Brotherhood is not a secular organization," a spokesman for Clapper, Jamie Smith, said Thursday afternoon.

Gee.

This is what's going on at the top of the intelligence community in the Obama Administration?

This guy should be fired before the sun rises.

This serves President Obama's taqqiya strategy well: dissemble and deceive Americans on the real nature of jihadism, especially by the Muslim Brothers. Why would President Obama replace Clapper when he's doing the President's bidding?

"Why would President Obama replace Clapper when he's doing the President's bidding?"

As much as I like to stay away from conspiracy theories, the same thought has occured to me. I mean it seems to fit all too nicely, doesn't it?

To these people the Brotherhood is simply a group of community organizers like their own ACORN. They probably wish they could be as effective as the Briotherhood.

This guy Clapper must think we are all idiots.

beebop| 2.11.11 @ 6:11AM

No. He thinks that the 22 percent of the base that still supports the resident will take up the chant and give it some legs.

JASmius| 2.10.11 @ 6:22PM

In the immortal words of Ron White, "You can't fix stupid."

Or, rather, not as long as that's the role that Red Barry would have Jim Clapper play. It's a mark of how blindly, rigidly, extremely ideological Barack Obama is that he sends his DNI out to peddle manure like this, as well as how moronic his extremist ideology has rendered him that he thinks his stooges can contemptuously put it over on what he thinks is a brain-dead public.

Mr. Clapper must step down. I am tired of paying salaries to ignorant recipients in DC.

Jack F.| 2.10.11 @ 6:32PM

How can we expect America to be safe when morons like Clapper are in charge of "intelligence"?

Sapphire98| 2.10.11 @ 6:48PM

Jack, I agree. We have a lot to change in procedures and policies set by all of the unfaithful appointed Gov. That have managed to get elected and re-elected. Back to the basics. The Constitution of America, joining each true American to make these necessary changes!

Ken (Old Texican)| 2.10.11 @ 7:16PM

Mr. Lord,
let's all sit down for a month without pay...or tax withholdings.
Somebody inDC just might wake up.

Hey, it has worked for the Egyptians, and I am game.

Occam's Tool| 2.10.11 @ 11:55PM

Dear Ken: my goodness, another intelligence moron. Obviously, Homeland Security is doing a great job of coordinating the intelligence agencies. Another great cabinet post.

dale| 2.10.11 @ 7:27PM

Obama needs to take a long hard look at Mr Clapper. This is his second blunder on our Security

Thom| 2.10.11 @ 7:28PM

The Nazis were "largely secular" as were the Communist. Does this label really change who and what they do? No. Knowing their beliefs is useful on different levels but who they are is well established and what they do when they get power is also well established. We also know who their “friends” were (the Nazis) and are today and they are quite proud to tell you what they intend to do if they get power. “secular” has become a code word for none practicing none threatening Muslin which isn’t nor has ever been who the Brotherhood was or is. It has as much value as the word secular Jew has to someone who actually practices Islam.

albert constantine, jr.| 2.10.11 @ 9:41PM

A secular Muslim brotherhood? What terrorist arrests in London? The system worked as it was supposed to with the underwear bomber? That which passes for the professional intelligence leadership in this administration each day reveals itself to be more amateur.

9th ID| 2.10.11 @ 10:38PM

Clapper must have been the one that briefed that RINO Bill Kristol of the "Weakly" Standard on the Muslim Brotherhood and caliphates...

Larry| 2.11.11 @ 4:56AM

This IS disturbing. If this guy is the best that Obama can get for intelligence gathering and analysis, he is in a world of hurt. No wonder U.S. foreign policy is in such a bad way.

stu| 2.11.11 @ 6:55AM

What did we expect from the leftist/statist in the WH who appoints these useful idiots? Yes he should be summarily fired but he won't because his mindset is the same as BO and his minions/handlers. They must go ASAP!

Mimi| 2.11.11 @ 7:04AM

With all that the new Congress has on its plate...Along comes some more JOBS....Does the CIA need a check-up on Patriotism???
It is looking more and more like the LEFTis creating a dangerous world and that the view of incompetence was being KIND in describing their actions. Are they Deliberately trying to help our enemy????

Will| 2.11.11 @ 7:30AM

How on earth are we going to establish sharia in the United States if the top security guy bad-mouths the Brotherhood?

Biggest threat to the republic since 1861
