No.

Agreed. Thank you.

Robbie| 2.7.11 @ 3:09PM

I think Jeb would be great and I think he's the only Republican who can beat Obama. I don't like his immigration stance, but that's just one issue. On taxes, welfare, and Obamacare, he's right in tune with conservatives.

More to the point, electorally, he would start in a commanding position. Florida would be his while Ohio would be a near lock. He would also bring PA, MI, WI, and possibly MN into play. No other possible choice can compete across the country as he can. While Jeb could win 40 states, Palin could easily lose 40 states.

Jeb could also play a key role in the Senate races. Strong challenegers in PA, MI, WI, OH, FL, ND, MT, MO, and even HA are much more likely with him at the top of the ticket. He could easily sweep into office and bring 10 Senate seats with him.

He has a great conservative track record in Florida and he could solidify conservatism nationally as FDR did liberalism in the 1930's. I agree with NRO that if he wants to run now is the time. By 2016, we'll have moved on to other names.

I sure I will be flamed for what I have written even though I was a volunteer for Rand Paul in KY.

Forgot to mention one thing. Last December, Jim DeMint, hero to the Tea Party, said he would endorse Jeb if he ran for president. Does that make DeMint a RINO now?

A Balrog of Morgoth| 2.7.11 @ 3:18PM

Is this during the primaries or after he has secured the nomination?

Robbie| 2.7.11 @ 3:37PM

The implication was the primary. He made the comments in late December.

Clint| 2.7.11 @ 4:32PM

Wrong.
DeMint Has Not Officially Endorsed Anybody.

Do Your Homework, DeMint has talked nicey, nicey about all The Republican Wannabe Possibles.

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballo.....nt-goes-ea

"DeMint may not endorse any presidential candidate this cycle, one adviser told CNN - a far cry from his 2008 strategy, when he endorsed former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney early on in the process.

Some in DeMint's orbit been asking him to at least consider running for president as early as last year. Since November's elections, DeMint has been working on finishing a new book set for publication this summer, "The Great American Awakening: Two Years that Changed America, Washington, and Me."

Peter Brown, a prominent South Carolina donor and a member of DeMint's kitchen cabinet, predicted that DeMint could warm to the idea of a White House bid as the rest of the field takes shape. Brown said potential candidates like Romney, Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich are failing to generate any kind of broad excitement among conservatives. "

Robbie| 2.7.11 @ 4:36PM

No, you're wrong. DeMint said he would likely endorse Jeb should he choose to run. He said this back in December.

I don't jave the link at hand though. I wouldn't have mentioned it had I not been sure because I know the Palinistas (not calling you that) would swarm all over the comment.

Clint| 2.7.11 @ 5:04PM

No Robbie You're Wrong.

You Don't Know The Difference Between An Official Endorsement & talkin' up a bunch of Republican Wannabes.

For the 2012 cycle, DeMint has yet to commit to Romney again, but told CNN that it’s certainly a possibility.

“Mitt is still near the top of my list of candidates, but I want to look and see who else steps up to the plate,” he said.

It’s difficult to imagine DeMint endorsing a Romney-like candidate in a congressional primary, but he’s certainly leaving the door open in the presidential primary.

And there are even more examples of his ideological generosity to other prime ’12 prospects.

Last month, he vouched for Sen. John Thune’s (R) conservative credentials even though the South Dakota senator voted for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) and has been a leading proponent of the tax compromise pushed by President Obama and congressional GOP leaders.

Then take the case of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who has said he won’t be running in 2012 but serves as another useful example of DeMint’s generosity toward potential candidates, however unlikely they are to run.

Bush has taken fire from Republicans for opposing Arizona’s controversial immigration law, but DeMint told the St. Petersburg Times that Bush would "probably" get his endorsement if he ran.

“He would be a great president. He’d probably be the best on the list if he didn’t have the Bush name … Jeb Bush has been very bold and principled, and you never know. If he is interested, I’d sure be interested in talking to him,” DeMint said.

In that interview, he also singled out Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels for praise — the same Mitch Daniels who proposed a 1 percent tax increase on all individuals making over $100,000.

“[Daniels] proved he can manage a state and make some hard decisions, so I think that 2012 might not be the year of charisma. It might be the year of real leadership and management,” DeMint said.

DeMint has also indicated he might be open to supporting New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for president, telling CNN that he’s “looking for someone that’s almost like a Gov. Christie in New Jersey” and telling MSNBC that Christie is part of a “great list of folks” who might throw their hat in the 2012 ring. In his 2009 gubernatorial primary, Christie had a challenge from the right.

Of course, when it comes down to making his decision, DeMint might sharpen his standards. But for now, the Jim DeMint of the 2012 race hasn’t looked anything like the Jim DeMint of the 2010 cycle. "

Is "I was a volunteer for Rand Paul" the new lifelong-republican-voted-for-Bush-twice?

j/k sort of...

Jeb may have Florida locked down, but one wonders how competitive Florida will be if Obama is vulnerable in 2012.

If he is not, the whole thing will be a moot point.

Robbie| 2.7.11 @ 3:41PM

I want the most electable conservative. In KY, that was easily Rand Paul and not Trey Greyson. Nationally, it's a different story. I would love to see Calvin Coolidge reincarnated, but we need to win in 2012. Nominating Palin losing big does nothing to aid conservative governance. Jeb's a bargain I'm willing to make in order to ensure Obama is gone after 2012. I don't think any of the 2012 liklies can win nationally. JMO.

Patty| 2.7.11 @ 10:41PM

Robbie, are you insane or do you just work for the Bush family?

Stop it, please. Jeb is pro-amnesty--he will never get my vote.

kingsmill| 2.7.11 @ 3:15PM

Stay out of the Bushes. The only utterance of Jesse Jackson Sr. that has made any sense (excepting his anti-abortion stance in the 1970's.).

Kenny| 2.7.11 @ 3:16PM

Please, no more Bushs.

You get Jeb in office and he'll follow in the foot steps of the other two --- a 'compassionated conservative.'

Dixie Pixie| 2.7.11 @ 3:26PM

If Jeb Bush name was Bryan Fuddoubler he would still be a Rockefeller Republican and a Ruling Class worshiping RINO.

A much better candidate would be "Prickly City's" Winslow.
After all there can not be too many cartoon coyotes on the ballot.

Grzmlyk| 2.7.11 @ 3:31PM

ALL BUSHES ARE RINOS.

I have one word to say about anybody named Bush EVER running for president again:

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOT IT????????

PattyMor| 2.7.11 @ 3:37PM

I agre with NEVER, NEVER, NEVER. Fooled us
twice and we suffer for it. No more progressive
RINO's.

Occam's Tool| 2.7.11 @ 5:34PM

There is a great candidate whose first name begins with "J" and last name starts with "B." He's a man who is a Goldwater Conservative on Domestic policy and a true Hegemon on foreign policy. He is the man before whom the Mullahs quail. It is not Jeb Bush.

He is John Bolton, whose 'Stache alone will destroy Barry Obama in a debate. The way Bolton will deal with America's enemies will resemble very closely Marciano's approach in the Ring---if he misses you with the fist, he'll take you out with the elbow.

Red Phillips | 2.7.11 @ 10:11PM

"a true Hegemon on foreign policy"

Occam, are you sure you want to be so obvious about your foreign policy intentions. Aren't you supposed to mask your true intentions with flowery rhetoric about universal democracy and human rights?

Patty| 2.7.11 @ 10:42PM

Maybe Sec. of State but not President.
