Are there any fans of Christina Aguilera’s rendition of the
national anthem out there? I realize it’s a hard song to sing, but
she didn’t even try. Instead, she attempted to reinterpret it,
badly. Also, is there a reason that she has to bleach her hair that
unnaturally blonde?
Super Bowl spots have long been the most expensive commercials
in advertising, so it’s a good idea to air ads that make you want
to buy the products. Dorito is 50/50 so far: the attack pug was a
good selling point but the creepy cheese sucking/sniffing guy, not
so much.
The vehicle spots have been pretty good and the Bud Lite
commercial was perfect. Not sure about the Pepsi Max spots, but I’d
rather take a bath in vinegar than Pepsi. Oh, and Green Bay just
scored the first touchdown. Take that, Steelers fans.

Half-time.... great game so far. Ain't being Americans fun?

Only Roseanne Barr or Carl Lewis have come close to Christina Aguileria's rendition of the National Anthem.

Funny you should mention Roseanne Barr. That is who I was reminded of when Christina Aguileria sang. That sort of style (even without flubbing the lines) is a disgrace. We were laughing that Aguileria's rendition was bringing the players to tears and put the soldiers in Iraq in shock. It was an awful performance, which happens too many times with pop singers trying to express their originality with a traditional song.

Little Darth Vader was the best commercial for me. I don't recall the product though.

The Fox House Mean Joe Green parody was the best

Tried to avoid most of the dreck, but did catch two (2) commercial ads featuring an individual known as "Eminem". I had to reflect that there was great "controversy" on the Focus on the Family ads, but ads promoting this "artist" seemed perfectly acceptable. So, this is the state of our country. Values that promote misogyny, violence, aggression and crime are acceptable. Those that value life, responsibility and accountability are not.

I was touched by the pre-game reading of the Declaration of Independence. I was dreading the Aguilera massacre of our National Anthem even before she first opened her mouth. Was it last year when they chose a young serviceman to sing it? If I am remembering correctly, he did justice to the song and brought tears (of love, not disgust) to my eyes.

The 1/2 time entertainment was just awful. Most of the commercials were the same. Christina A did a terrible rendition of the National Anthem.
It was so waaay overdone. Bring back one of the servicemen/women, or they could have had the Air Force chorale do it. Who ever set up the 1/2 time needs to be booted.

I totally agree with you. My post below asks them to bring back some patriotism and devote the half-time show to that -- at least while we are involved in wars/helping other countries. We need some old fashioned patriotism built up in this country. Kids today have no idea of what that is, even their parents do not!

I thought the National Anthem version which Christina Agularia attempted to perform was one of the worst I have heard and I've heard a lot of performances in my lifetime. In a country blessed with an abundance of professional, semi-professional and pro-amateurs, is this the best we could find to represent the music industry. The performer from Glee who sand America did a beautiful job, it was sung with meaning and clarity. The National Anthem was off key with improper words and it was a mess as was the performer.
As for the half-time show, I watched a short time of it. My question is this: Our country has been attacked over the last years; we have literally tens of thousands of soldiers in various countries around the world helping them and hopefully protecting the people of those countries. Why not put together a "patriotic" half-time show which would honor the troops, the civilians doing volunteer work, the families who are left here and those volunteers who are helping them.
When I look back on activities that were organized during WW's I and II to support troops and families -- the US came together in a joint effort to support the troops and families -- it didn't matter which side of the issue you stood on - there was a joint effort to support the troops. This is missing in this country at this time. There is no better venut than a national football game attended by 10's of thousands of people inside and outside and millions more on TV. Please US lets show some patriotism like we used to!

Aquilera blew her singing credibility. She wouldn't make it through the first round of American Idol. She made the unforgivable error of forgetting the words. But her over-the -top rendition was obviously an attempt to find the key (no pun intended Francis Scott). She was flat and it was unbearable to listen to. What was she doing going a-cappella?
Well she turned herself into a laughingstock. Did Janet Jackson ever recover?
My wife left with the Black-Eyed Peas. I watched being a Packer fan. The lights were tacky and distracting. The sound quality did not help them. Instead of dancing they pose. Makes them look like robots. But those songs had no melody. Another group bites the dust.

The Carl's Jr. ad was a waste of money. A lot of time spent showing a chicken, and they ask, "Do you see any nuggets?" Then they show their sandwich and call it the chicken tender wrap. I don't see any "tenders" on the chicken either. For anyone who saw Kung Fu Panda looking for the chicken's tenders is even more disturbing.

What a disgrace! To hear our national anthem
so brutalized only confirms that a country who
tolerates this kind of sacrilege also votes for a
con man like Obama.
southernsue| 2.7.11 @ 2:37PM
ditto, cuffs. America has become american idol. that is how obumber got to be president, the college youth. anybody can be a singer or president of these days, just find the right PR guy and he can manufacture it. no talent or experience needed. by the way, love those voice enhancers and teleprompters.
Fran S| 2.7.11 @ 7:34PM
Agreed. I was squirming on my sofa as she tried to so cutely interpret the anthem which needs no interpretation.
