My friend Mark Tapscott has probably the most eloquent column
yet on why Mike Pence should run for president.
Read it here. Pence, he writes, “is a man of faith and a
genuine conservative who understands that economic freedom produces
the best results for everybody concerned when sown among consumers
who are independent, trustworthy, family oriented and
hard-working.”
Another testimonial
comes from Ned Ryun, president of a great grassroots group
called American Majority.
[A]sk yourself who has held true to his or her principles under
fire, time and time again? I’m not saying standing up and
proclaiming this or that: words mean nothing to me. It’s what you
actually do, and Mike Pence’s voting record has shown from No Child
Left Behind to Medicare Part D to TARP to the stimulus bill, even
taking a stand against the recent tax compromise, he has talked and
walked the walk.
Pence has said he will decide by the end of January whether to
run for governor or Indiana or instead to take a shot at the
presidency. In other words, he’ll decide by this coming Monday. If
he runs, he’ll certainly make a lot of conservative movement
activists very happy.

Let's see Pence get behind Rand Paul's 500 billion in spending cuts in year one. If he is a leader he should be able to rally the House Republicans.
Bob| 1.26.11 @ 4:42PM
Pence with his chubby belly, white hair and yellow teeth has no chance to be President but he could become mayor of Gary if he dyed his hair and got a suntan.
Frisbee| 1.26.11 @ 5:32PM
Your attitude is pathetic, but then again maybe your assessment of the shallowness of the American electorate is accurate. George Washington wouldn't stand a chance today, with his white wig and red cheeks.
Julie| 1.26.11 @ 7:48PM
I agree and could never vote for Mike Pence. I want my President to be youthful looking, handsome and physically fit. Congressman Pence looks like an old fogey with his pot belly, white hair and bad teeth.
tatosian| 1.26.11 @ 10:05PM
Sooooo, your president, a semi-literate moron with a gift of gab and a supperating buboe on his face is handsome?
And he's fit because he wags his empty head back and forth while he's descending the stairs?
I think you're confusing youthful looking with immaturity here but what the hey, liberals can't see reality through the delusions anyway.
Wayne | 1.27.11 @ 12:39PM
Pot Belly, white hair, yellow teeth, unfit, not youthful looking and not handsome or pretty. That pretty much describe Hillary Clinton.
JimH| 1.27.11 @ 3:35PM
I am assuming that Julie is a women, and if so she is an argument for repealing the 19th amendment.
Diana| 1.27.11 @ 5:21PM
Gee, I agree with Julie, like it or not most women want their President to be male and have movie star qualities. I could never vote for a woman President and most of these male Republican candidates are unattractive including Governor Christie. I can't vote for a fat man.
Julie| 1.27.11 @ 5:46PM
Thanks Diana. To bad Robert Redford didn't run for office in his prime. H would have received 90% of the female vote including mine and would have been a wonderful President.
Diana| 1.27.11 @ 6:31PM
Speaking of which RR was in the movie The Candidate. I just swooned and drooled over him, to bad it was just a movie and not the real thing.
Clint| 1.26.11 @ 10:21PM
"chubby belly, white hair and yellow teeth "
Hey, that's Bob's Old Lady.
Quin| 1.27.11 @ 9:47AM
Chubby? Not right now. He recently ran a marathon.
Spicy Joker| 1.26.11 @ 4:54PM
We have to stop Twit Romney and Mike Huckster before they ruin Republicans down-ticket.
NVA Patriot| 1.26.11 @ 6:05PM
So I have been working a number of Tea Party events and I have been working with some state elected officials and potential candidates - intro ducing them to Tea Party activists - the ones who work phones, work events and do so tirelessly without much recognition and little visibility.
Pence will not motivate them. Pence will be perceived as an Establishment choice designed to stop Sarah Palin.
That is the dilemma for the Republicans - their integrity is on the line. They did not acquit themselves well in 2010. During the Tuscon rhetorical slaughter of Palin - they diplayed the courage of a thief when caught. Tea Partiers noticed.
I make no claim to speak for a multitude but I know this, Pence will lose NVA. And if you lose NVA you will likely lose VA. How do you become President if you don't take Virginia?
Ken (Old Texican)| 1.26.11 @ 7:23PM
NVA,
Sarah might endorse Pence. As I have written often, I hope and pray Sarah runs. She is the best we have.
On the other hand, I don't want her children orphaned.
Sir, she is FEARED!
NVA Patriot| 1.27.11 @ 8:25AM
Like Lincoln said of Grant - "He [She] fights"
Bob| 1.26.11 @ 7:40PM
I suggest the GOP nominate teletubby NJ Governor Lard Crisco. Man what a behmoth, the cartoonists and comedians would reach a state of nirvanna.
Ken (Old Texican)| 1.26.11 @ 8:08PM
Bob,
Thanks for dropping by.
Send your invoice to Soros.
C Bowen| 1.26.11 @ 8:24PM
The guy who wrote the House Amnesty Bill, is not going to go anywhere. He voted for Planned Parenthood subsidies year in year out, and now decides to stop it?
The Beltway will need to find some new scam candidates if they think they'll fool the people in this day and age.
Bob| 1.26.11 @ 8:26PM
These Republicans gave us two rebuts last night. Governor Crisco with his fat butt should have been good enough but we got two whiny nasal voice Midwesterners who flopped. The divided GOP response is just a symptom of how divided their nomination process is and we liberals thank you.
tatosian| 1.26.11 @ 9:21PM
The divided gop and Tea Party nomination process resulted in a gop majority in the house and a curtailment of progressive power in the senate Bob.
Remember that?
You'll have another opportunity to thank us all in 2012.
Till then, you're welcome Bob.
J.C.Eaton| 1.26.11 @ 8:27PM
Bob, nice job; your silly little petulance easily wins Sophomoric Post of the Day. Keep it up.
Michael L. Hauschild| 1.26.11 @ 9:03PM
Pence bandwagon? That is so delusional on so many levels that one can only suspect an attemp at humor.
J & G| 1.26.11 @ 9:21PM
I support a ticket of Jeb Bush and George Allen.
Michael L. Hauschild| 1.27.11 @ 10:21AM
Maraca and macaca?
tonypal| 1.26.11 @ 11:43PM
I'm amazed that anyone here takes the time to respond to Bob. What's the sense. He's either a 15 year old zit covered kid who can't get a girl or a 45 year old loser living in his parent's basement pounding away his frustrations on his computer because he can't get a girl.
Oldefarte| 1.27.11 @ 10:43AM
With all due respect, I simply do not think that A MAN OF FAITH is [or should be the ultimate qualification needed for our next president], although it is an essential ingredient. We had A MAN OF FAITH from 2000-2008, and we faired adequately, though not as well as we could/should have. What we need is A MAN [OR WOMAN] OF GUTS/COURAGE, who will hav eht gahones to take us in the direction needed, and that is to seriously implement governmental budget reductions [and to eliminate costly expensive welfare oriented programs] that will signal to the business/private sector that they could/should hire more employees, build more plants, buy more equipment; which will boost our economy. Tax policy is fine but it should be secondary, since same does not initiate/generate economic redirection on as grand a scale as would a serious governmental spending reduction policy. Pense may be what's needed, but it won't depend upon his faith beliefs, and there are numerous potential candidates that could/should be of consideration also!!!!!!!!
NVA Patriot| 1.27.11 @ 11:18AM
Hi -
You're right about the need for courage. It's the reason there is a persistant "anyone but Palin" drum beat coming from the establishment and establishment wannabes. They are afraid of a person who is powerful in their own right and speaks to America's heart more than it's progressive-addled brain.
We need more heart than head right now. We need the heart to make cuts and we need the heart to help our fellow citizens who - through no fault of theirs - came to depend on government, rediscover their humanity and can do heart and spirit. We will. And if SP is the candidate - don't be surprised when she wins a convincing victory.
Oldefarte| 1.27.11 @ 2:53PM
Absolutely correct! Palin and Bachmann are both dispised by the left because they both have the guts to tell it like it is. Liberals know that the TRUTH HURTS, and that's why they attack both of them so much. Backmann did not mence words with her reaction to the SOTU address, and Palin's WTF comments were priceless!!!!
David T| 1.27.11 @ 12:44PM
I can't accept "Bandwagon." How about "Radio Flyer"?
e cowan| 1.27.11 @ 1:47PM
Same as I said in the other THREAD - Penny for Pence:
Not even a ha'penny for any of the Ethanol Four:
Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty, Indiana governor Mitch Daniels, South Dakota senator John Thune, and Indiana congressman Mike Pence...
Katrina Trinko writes on NRO: What kind of Republican supports high tariffs on imports, dubious green tax credits, and consumption mandates to prop up unprofitable environmental darlings? The ethanol-loving midwestern kind, especially the ones running for president. Currently, imported ethanol is slapped with a 54-cent-per-gallon tariff, while oil companies receive a 45-cent tax credit per gallon . .
I Survived Arlen Specter| 1.27.11 @ 2:54PM
The "Anyone But Palin" meme of The Stupid Party is really getting tiresome. The "ruling class" elites in The Stupid Party are every bit the enemy to conservatism that the loony left & the Democrats are. If a RINO ( in all fairness Pence is not a RINO) is The Stupid Party nominee in 2012 The Teleprompter In Chief will skate to an easy victory.
Thomas Cheplick| 1.27.11 @ 4:55PM
Yet another excellent piece of analysis and insight from the American Spectator!
I am in complete agreement , which is why I urge everyone to go to www.TheConservativeChampion.org to sign the Declaration cheering Mike to run for President!
This is going to be one of the most important Presidential elections of our lives against President Obama, and there is really nobody else like Mike Pence!!
Congressman Mike Pence is the Strongest Reagan-Kemp pro-Jobs free market guy we have got in America. Jack Kemp anointed him his intellectual heir.
Pence was the first Congressman to stand up to Karl Rove to fight against the 2008 Wall Street bailouts (back when that was unpopular thing-to-do), he stands strong on national defense and fights Planned Parenthood tooth-and-nail! Principled, Christian and he has got a fine and crisp speaking-style!
WE need him in this race.
Major Conservative and Tea Party leaders like Dick Armey, Brent Bozell, Erick Erickson, Morton Blackwell, and others have all ENDORSED him.
America is facing a serious crisis and we need a smart, insightful, and a *true* Constitutionalist like Pence in the White House to make sure our beloved country stays strong and does not become some sort of second-world big government mess.
Again, I urge you to come to www.TheConservativeChampion.org to find out more about The Pence or sign our declaration cheering him on into the 2012 Race for the White House!
*WE need to make sure he gets IN this very crucial race.*
Thomas

I love Mitt Romney. I get an orgasmic feeling just thinking a member of the LDS Church will be our next President.

Mormon Girl--I'd like to meet you. Are you as cute as the (skinny) Marie Osmond?
