The Academy Award nominations were announced this morning, and among those chosen for best documentary was “Gasland,” the Josh Fox propagandizer about the alleged dangers and abuses by the natural gas industry. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that an association of Hollywoodites, who in the past have honored error- and lie-riddled films by Michael Moore and Al Gore, would give Fox similar superlative consideration.

For a reminder, you can find out the facts behind some myths promoted by “Gasland” in Commonwealth Foundation’s Policy Brief last June on natural gas, and a few more debunked by Energy in Depth.

Don't you just love the Hollywierd elites. They hate petroleum products so much, that they all jump into limos to drive to their private airplanes. They don't hate petroleum, just American produced petroleum.

They hate any American who makes more money than they do. Celebrities and liberal pukes exempted.

Natural Gas is the current panacea by the Governing Class for our energy crisis. People investing in it and engaged in employment in the industry will make a lot of money until another favorite appears on the horizon.

It is most efficient to get our energy needs from Nuclear, Coal and Oil sources. Natural Gas is costly and inefficient compared to them. It is very costly to do the "fracturing" needed to release the gas from the underground shale levels that entrap it. And the deeper and more extensive they are from the surface, the costlier it gets. The further away the sources of water are that is needed to do this "fracturing" the more the cost rises. And each well needs millions of gallons of water for this fracturing.

Then there are the political problems that must be dealt with. The trucks that transport this water to the drilling areas cause serious damage to local roads and there are political disputes arising among local governments and state agencies on how they will be reimbursed for these damages to the local infrastructure. Often enough, for the local press in these areas to exploit, are damages caused to local drinking water, wells and streams by the way the water is obtained and also by the way the used water, now filled with chemicals, is stored above ground in retaining areas.

Add to this the costs of building the pipelines to transfer this gas. And then the costs of storing it and shipping it to Europe where much of it is sold and you can understand why it is not popular in the areas where it is found.

And you can also understand why the liberal news and entertainment industry has jumped on it!

This is what happened when our "conservative" leadership under the RINO's would not fight back against the tree hugging Left Wingers!
