Bravo to James Moore, the Minister of Canadian Heritage.

Last night, the National Library and National Archives of Canada had been scheduled to show the documentary Iranium, which concerns Iran's nuclear programme. However, there were complaints by the Iranian Embassy in Ottawa. Then came subsequent telephone threats as well as two suspicious letters which prompted the Archives to close early.

It should be noted that the National Libary and National Archives of Canada is located on Wellington Street and is next door to the Supreme Court of Canada and a short distance away from Parliament Hill. On a personal note, I spent many hours at the National Archives working on my undergraduate thesis so I know the place intimately. When you enter the building the first thing you see is Glenn Gould's Steinway piano.

Well, this was too much to bear for Moore who has issued an order that the National Archives show the film. Moore stated, "The Iranian Embassy will not dictate to the Government of Canada which films will or will not be shown in Canada." Moore has represented his Vancouver area constituency in the House of Commons under the Conservative Party banner since 2000 and was appointed Minister of Canadian Heritage by Prime Minister Stephen Harper in October 2008.

The National Archives will show Iranium sometime next month. The film is due to premier in the U.S. on February 8th.

Bravo, Mr. Moore! Way to be strong in a world of political cowardice!

By the way, is it just me, or, are these runts in Persia starting to really tick anyone else off? I mean, we're already there. Does another sand-trap nation need a lesson in humility as well? These morons must not be playing with a full deck. We are less than two years away from replacing the Muslim-in-Chief with, hopefully, a patriot, and a friend to Israel, and these idiots continue to threaten Israel as well as other allies of ours. Seriously, are you middle-eastern morons this stupid? Are you? If we start drilling our own oil like mad and remove all the red-tape to development, we could stomp all over Iran with little to no economic repercussions.

jstwndring,

You must be too young to remember the 444 days of the Iran Hostage Crisis. Those of us who lived through it, have been ticked off at the Iranian revolutionaries for a long time.

I believe if my memory serves me right, that was the first Jimmie Caaarter administration.

Inge| 1.20.11 @ 5:47AM

Harper, Moore, and others have demonstrated courage, not only in this case, but also by supporting Israel!
They have shown more b*lls then anyone in our current crop in the White House.

Muslims threaten Canadian government. Islam is a subversive political ideology, not a religion.

WTF| 1.20.11 @ 8:36AM

Source? What letters, what threats? This article is pathetic, and transparently bigoted.

Ironic, but welcome, coming from a Canada which is the world center for PC behavior.

The more I see of these simpering, festering, malignant little warts asserting themselves, the closer I come to saying just F*** em!

Iran, China, No. Korea - and the Western politicians who are playing politics with the lives of billions of people who yearn to be free.

Something's got to give - and it sure as hell isn't going to be the dictators or the politicians.

Throw em all out and replace them with decent, human beings who'll stand up to bullies and thugs!

Arrgghhh....alright...now I feel better.

"The film is due to premier in the U.S. on February 8th."

Unless, President Dither's minister of culture czar decides to kowtow to, yet, another inferior nation.

WTF, I guess you are.

Funny..I think the Brits and the Obama regime would have caved..I know they would have.

Devasahayam| 1.20.11 @ 3:55PM

On the Brits, you would have been correct when Brown was PM--but Cameron won last year, and has more stones than Brown (as he showed recently on a visit to Delhi, criticising Pornistan NOT to please his Indian hosts but to point out their responsibility for 2005/07/07 London-blasts and 2007/03/15 plot to blow-up North-America destined aircraft departing from Heathrow). The simpering eunuch in 1600 Penn would have caved in way before this point.

Frank Tavos| 1.20.11 @ 3:48PM

Although our Conservative Party of Canada is really "Conservative Lite" in the realm of domestic affairs, on foreign policy they are considerably more hawkish than the Obama Administration. At least they support Israel wholeheartedly and haven't attempted to stab her in the back.

Devasahayam| 1.20.11 @ 3:57PM

Even on domestic affairs, they are way more conservative than Jorge Bush Jr--unfortunately, they are way-liberal when compared to Ernest Charles Manning (admittedly, he never was PM but he was the best PM "my" province Alberta ever had).

Now go back to your troll hole and stay there!

I wish Moore was running for POTUS--I would support him at once (and the little issue of his being born in Canada--given that treasonous bh0 has refused to show his birth-cert so far, I think he can run tit-for-tat)!

Barbara| 1.20.11 @ 4:55PM

My Canadian born grandmother would be proud of the cabinet minister. She always stood up for what was right. I never saw her back up for any reason. I can only wish the current occupant in the white house would defend the US.
