For a number of years now, North and South Dakota have
been political oddities: basically Republican states with almost
entirely Democratic congressional delegations. It’s not quite as if
Massachusetts suddenly sent only Republicans to Congress —
Massachusetts has a much bigger delegation and is more of a
one-party state — but it’s close. Kent Conrad’s retirement is the
latest sign the Dakotas’ congressional representation will look
more like the state’s partisan alignment for the foreseeable
future.

The seat is Attorney General Wayne Stenehjam's if he wants it. He's Republican, popular and his brother Bob is state Senate Majority Leader.
