Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) has announced she will not seek another term in 2012. "I have known since 2006 that I wouldn't seek another term," the senator told the Dallas Morning News. "I wanted to announce it on my own terms and in my own way."

Maybe that's true. But Hutchison badly lost a Republican primary for governor last year and was likely to face a primary challenge from Texas Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams, and possibly others, for the GOP senatorial nomination. So maybe this was the best way to go out on her own terms.

Another RINO bites the dust.

She won't be missed. Most of the public is unaware that she is the sole reason the fence on the border was stopped.

Another example on how liberal Texas truly is.

Good riddance to another self-serving RINO.

I'll believe it when I see it. When the reality of losing many of her perks and no longer receiving the constant reinforcement of her self-esteem by her equally-slimy colleagues starts to sink in, she may well just find that she is still needed, that many Texans "love her" and will "urge" her to run. Just wait for it. Otherwise, she'll work hard to get Florence Shapiro, a Jewish Hutchison clone, elected in her place. Then there's always the GOP's latest magic negro, Michael Williams. Whom to choose, whom to choose? Such a plethora of fine, qualified, upstanding citizens! Decline and fall.

She will be replaced by a tea partier like Andy Harris of Maryland who campaign against Obamacare and then complained that he had to wait full month foe his government health care.

I'll believe it when I see it. She's the Brett Favre of the Senate.

One RINO down, several more to go.

It will be Florence Shapiro.

Miss Kay while indeed a RINO is not stupid, she hedged her bet by not resigning from the Senate while running for Governor and the results of the primary were not lost on her. She was going to face a crowded field for re-election and her prospects were for success were very dim. She has had a good run but her time has passed and she knows it. Kay knew she didn't want to join the growing list of former long-serving GOP pols upended by a fresh-faced Tea Party endorsed real conservative. My favorite character in all this is Bill White, who after his stellar performance in the Governors race looks like he will now try his hand at the US Senate...
