Though the left has desperately tried to connect conservatives
in general (and Sarah Palin in particular) to Saturday’s tragic
shooting, evidence continues to mount that alleged shooter Jared
Loughner’s hatred of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords long predates the Tea
Party or Palin’s emergence in national politics.
The Wall Street Journal
writes that Loughner “appeared to have been long obsessed with
U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.” It is one of several news outlets to
focus on a 2007 encounter Loughner had with Giffords, in which he
reportedly asked something to the effect of, “How do you know words
mean anything?” and received a response he found
unsatisfactory.
Meanwhile, the liberal Mother Jones has an
illuminating interview with someone purporting to be a longtime
friend of Loughner, and explains that “Loughner held a years-long
grudge against Giffords and had repeatedly derided her as a
‘fake.’” The article later notes, citing the friend, that “Loughner
did not display any specific political or ideological bent: ‘It
wasn’t like he was in a certain party or went to rallies…It’s not
like he’d go on political rants.’”

WELL, THAT SEALS IT! As everyone knows, Glenn and Rush have been going on for YEARS about Giffords! I remember Rush committing a whole show to Gifford's craziness, like her support for the Second Amendment. And Beck! That nut went on for weeks about her! And Palin put cross hairs over her district for the upcoming election with a big icon that said, BONSAI! And let's not get started on Mark Levin and . . . . wait, my fact checker is calling me. Hello. . . What? They didn't? Never did any of that? Well, didn't they . . . Oh. Um, well, Obama has said they are irresponsible and . . . He said what? Bring a gun? Obama said that? Oh. Um, okay. Thanks.
Ah hem. Um, never mind.
Dean from Ohio| 1.10.11 @ 10:54AM
Funny--the "Left" thinks a Bonsai tree is the same as the Japanese battle cry Banzai. Good play! Cultural and historical ignorance compounds the foolishness of the Left.
Alan Brooks| 1.10.11 @ 11:54AM
Still, you are a tad relieved Giffords wasn't a Republican.
Eric Cartman| 1.10.11 @ 12:04PM
MOM! Alan Brooks is drinking and posting again!
LTB| 1.10.11 @ 2:37PM
You're a moron.
LTB| 1.10.11 @ 2:39PM
Sorry Cartman, you're not a moron, I'm a moron, becuase I didn't read all the way to the end. I thought you were being serious.
Paul Milenkovic| 1.10.11 @ 10:52AM
Not to get you off your game, but I believe that Banzai! is the English transliteration for the Japanese word meaning Charge! and that a bonsai is one of those artfully stunted trees that you see in a "tea garden."
So since Ms. Palin is a woman, maybe she does give the exortation Bonsai!, urging her women friends to spread beauty across the land with miniature plants . . .
Eric Cartman| 1.10.11 @ 11:07AM
Deam and Paul - I have been informed by a Double Secret informant (code name Haliburton) that Palin was actually wanting people to send Giffords thousands Bonsai trees. That way, she would be busy pruning them all day and could not get to the floor of the house to vote for Obamcare. Hence the icon BONSAI! Shhhhhh. This is classified. Haliburton has been 100% in the past - he works for MSNBC, so you know it's true. Shhhhhhh.
Nick| 1.10.11 @ 11:00AM
Nice try Mr. Cartman.
I notice that you are not discussing the fact that Mrs. Giffords was on Fox News, on Friday, calling for elimination of the scheduled congressional pay raise for 2012.
This is soooo obviously a grand conspiracy between YOU, all the members of Congress, O'Bama, the Bilderburgers, the Girl Scouts, every host on PMSNBC, Opus Dei, SEIU, the Masons, and my local chapter of Matchstick Sculpturers of America.
I pledge on my honor, YOU WILL NOT GET AWAY WITH THIS, CARTMAN!
Eric Cartman| 1.10.11 @ 11:11AM
You may be on to us, but we're TOO BIG TO FAIL! Boowahahahahahahah! On to victory! Where's my Bonsai?!
Dixie Pixie| 1.10.11 @ 11:16AM
Spoken just like Kyle Broflovski.
So who gets to be Kenny?
Nick| 1.10.11 @ 12:43PM
I knew you were part of the conspiracy, Dixie Pixie!
Pixie? As in Pixie Stix?
The powdered candy that hippies fill with cocaine to poison our children every Halloween? How dare you!
And Dixie?
Well....I don't know what that means.....yet.
Is that a reference to the Ft. Dix Six?
Oh...wait....I know. Most of the targets on Sarah Palin's map were in......DIXIE! Gotcha!
We're on to you, Pixie and Cartman, and all your Bonsai trimming freak friends.
So, be afraid. Very afraid.
Dixie Pixie| 1.10.11 @ 3:57PM
Greetings Little Nicky
OOOHHH....So Close....
You almost had it.
Consider the following definitions.
Dixie---- A denizen of the former Confederate States.
Pixie-----A small fast flying mischievous spirit.
Put it together and you are describing a mischievous spirit who lives in the deep south.
PS.... I prefer bamboo as it is chewer and I have never liked the taste of pine.

PS2....Proud member of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, Deep South Division with Oak Leaf Clusters.
Margie| 1.10.11 @ 4:12PM
Wait a minute. You forgot George Bush.
And Haliburton!
Nick| 1.10.11 @ 5:21PM
HAAAAALLLLLIBURTON!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I knew it! You're one of them too, Margie. Or, should I say.....Militia Margie!
You, and VMI Victor, conspiring with Cartman and Dixie Pixie, to overthrow my right to chocolate-chip ice cream. Make that mint chocolate-chip.
You'll excuse now, I must call a meeting of my compatriots to find out how deep this conspiracy goes. Could Oprah be a part of it?
Pleeeeease Nooooooo!
Margie| 1.10.11 @ 5:39PM
Militia Margie, well I have been called worse.
Now I'm thinking of changing my name to that.
What do you think?
Not.
But I do think Johnny Carson might be part of "all this". I heard the spirit of Carnac has been seen by some.
I heard it on Art Bell. The Aliens and What Not Radio Program.
Sometimes listening to that program is better than Nytol.
Nick| 1.10.11 @ 6:03PM
Ha-ha, good one, Margie!
Johnny Carson! I knew it!
I'll bet Steve Allen and Jack Benny are involved too!
Militia Margie| 1.10.11 @ 11:33PM
Really, if you want to know the truth it was Groucho Marx. Him & Harpo were last seen snooping around in the basement with that lady from their last movie.. oh, what was her name?
He actually started this whole thing. It took a long time to come to the surface.. decades in fact, but now we're on it.
They passed down some documents and they are now in the possession of Bugs Bunny, another famous cartoon character. He & the Road Runner got it in for Grouch and became stoolies. (sp?).
We should hear more about it on Rush's show tomorrow.
Stand by, folks.
This oughtta be real interesting.
Nick| 1.11.11 @ 8:01PM
Militia Margie, Ha-ha!
Dixie Pixie| 1.10.11 @ 6:06PM

My first time on this blog. I have been on both liberal and conservative blogs, but this is by far the most literate group of commentators found in one spot. Even when their points are well made, the spelling and grammar of some conributors elewhere is attrocious.
Nick| 1.10.11 @ 12:51PM
Mr. Page,
When one is making a snarky comment about "spelling and grammar," one should proof read with all due diligence.
Margie| 1.10.11 @ 5:41PM
I'm going to have to ask my Gramma about your Grammer, Nick.
Nick| 1.10.11 @ 5:57PM
Margie,
Oh, I admit my grammer is horrible. I went to publik skool, after all.
God Bless!

Only liberals are moronic enough to attempt to connect conservatism to Saturday's tradegy. The cause is the irrationality of these young children in being unable to distinguish RIGHT from WRONG. They see TV's shows and movies depicting violence as the natural remedy of one's disagreementwith world events. Instead of rational thoughts and arguments, they STUPIDLY strike out and use violence as a solution. These children are initially mentally abused after birth from a lack of family environmental nurturishing necessary, and are further brainwashed by the violence from TV and movies. These walking zombies are time bombs ready to explode. This tradegy should be a warning to conservatives that their efforts toward re-installing morality of religion and family should be drastically increased. This liberalism, if left to continue to increase and multiply, will futuristically only get worse. The athiesm of liberalistic immorality from statism's replacement of religion has simply got to be put to a stop!!!!!!!

No one has a clue if the Palin map had any influence or did not have any influence. Anyone saying either definitively is a spin doctor.
Did he hate the Rep. before Palin. Absolutely. After 3 or 4 years of quiet hate, did a map showing 2 of 20 people left to "take down" re-affirm his hatred and spur him to actions? Who knows.
Anyone claiming definite link or definite no-link has an agenda.
Margie| 1.11.11 @ 12:51PM
True enough, but even if he looked at a map with cross hairs on it or a duck in a pond with a target on it and decided to pull the trigger.. how many times.. it is no one's fault but his own.
The criminal mind (including the Left's for pinning the blame on Sarah or anyone else, and it IS criminal to do same), behaves the way it does BECAUSE they blame others for things in their own lives, and it is the REASON they act accordingly.
They are cop-outs from life and accountability.
