As Philip Klein has
pointed out Paul Krugman wasted no time in trying to blame
Sarah Palin for the shooting of Arizona Democratic Congresswoman
Gabrielle Giffords.
So too has Jane
Fonda,
The Daily Kos and
John Nichols of The Nation. I am sure there will be
more to come.
Their criticisms of Palin center on the SarahPAC map which targeted
20 Democratic Congressmen who had voted in favor of Obamacare with
crosshairs. Amongst those Democrats was Gabrielle Giffords.
Do these people really think Sarah Palin wanted Giffords and
those other Democratic Congressmen murdered?
Do these people actually believe Palin’s political activity
constituted a death threat to Giffords and the other Democratic
Congressmen?
If so they why didn’t they object when
Democratic Leadership Council essentially used the same tactic
against President Bush during the 2004 presidential
campaign?
Do these people honestly believe Palin inspired Jared Loughner
to commit murder and mayhem?
As of this moment we don’t know why Jared Loughner did what he
did today and we might never know. But if they believe in their
heart of hearts that Sarah Palin was the catalyst for this heinous
act then it says a great deal more about Paul Krugman, Jane Fonda,
The Daily Kos and John Nichols of The Nation than
it does about Palin.

Krugman, et al. are almost as pathetic as the shooter.
Liberal Reader| 1.8.11 @ 8:43PM
OK. So four or five people say stupid things when people are being gunned down in grocery stores.
Don't you see there might be a problem in attributing this kind of thing to "the left"? That is, all people who are not conservative Republicans?
Just try to reign it in a little. Everyone should. Anyone who blames this shooting on a political party or movement is being silly, no doubt. But I don't think you'll find many on the left who don't understand that. And never MIND what you hear on television and on the internet. 83.7% of it is just the sheerest bullshit. You should know that by now.
Nick| 1.8.11 @ 10:51PM
WRONG, Marxist Reader. As usual.
83.7% of IT is what you guys really think, but don't have the guts to say in public. It's probably more like 99.9%.
Olbermann-child, Chris Matth-spews, Krudman are all saying what true liberals really think and have tried to keep between themselves. They have finally gotten sick of hiding it.
Liberal Reader| 1.9.11 @ 1:22AM
Well ... I guess since you put it in bold and italics you really must mean it, and therefore it must be true. You've seen through my outward facade to my secret motivations. What a wizard. Penetrating insight. I don't know why I bothered to try to fool you. And that clever wordplay with people's names. Most people would say that's the sort of humor 12 year old boys yuck it up about, but they'd miss the illumination such wit brings with it. Matt-spews.... Get it? Get it? His name is kind of like "Matt-spews"? Meaning, he spews....Get it?
Liberal Reader| 1.9.11 @ 6:09AM
It took me 5 hours to understand the jokes here! at least on Huff n Poof they are a lot more, should I say... basic ... Like my rants as Johnnie Smith.
We really have lost our moral compass, our godless, marxist mind is leading us to hell, through lies and violence.

I've always called him Matth-spews, Marxist Reader. Where have you been? Is that really you?
I apologize for all the bold type. I mistyped somewhere.
What was your Military Occupational Strategy again?
Sam| 1.9.11 @ 3:21PM
Nick, allow me to explain why liberal reader and other liberals cannot understand your good points.
The left-wingers who use 'violent rhetoric' don't count in the minds of liberals because they're nobodies. Not many people actually watch Olbermann, and I didn't know liberal talk radio existed. I've never even heard of Nichols or the Democratic Leadership council.
But everyone has heard of Limbaugh, Hannity, Sarah, and Fox News is the most trusted network in the nation according to a poll done by Democrats.
Liberals resent the popularity of conservative speakers- so their frenzied blame game is because they know that their people don't actually matter to anyone. Of course, that doesn't excuse their people for the things they say.
Liberal Reader| 1.9.11 @ 5:46PM

breathing| 1.9.11 @ 4:51PM
Liberal Reader, I address this to you acknowledging that your comments are sincere.
Here in Arizona, Democrats are already gearing up for a special election to fill Rep. Giffords' seat. No one is going to publicly state that, but it's the truth. The evening of the shooting, the Democrat Sheriff of Pima County, in a press conference providing "information" about the shooting, attacked a large portion of his constituents and the majority of Arizonans, calling Arizona a "mecca for prejudice and bigotry." Rep. Raul Grijalva blamed Tea Partiers. It's rather obvious who isn't going to rein it in, never mind what you hear on television, and that more than four or five people will use the occasion to say stupid things. Your brethren (especially those in public office) should display enough class to restrain themselves until this crime is proven to have a genuine political basis. Right now that does not appear to be the case.

If I were to tweet "I hope someone will fire my boss," would I be to blame if someone actually set him on fire?
linda| 1.8.11 @ 8:49PM
Yeah, but the weakness in the logic is that Sarah Palin and the Tea Party are considered "Right Wing" and the shooter's favorite books were Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto, which are decidedly *NOT* "Right Wing" tomes.
Oopsie! How on earth with the Left spin that?
Liberal Reader| 1.9.11 @ 1:23AM
Mein Kamf is not right wing? Hitler was a fascist, dear. That's right wing.

Hitler was a national SOCIALIST
Bob K.| 1.9.11 @ 8:38AM
Correct. After the German-Russian falling out in WWII Stalin ordered that Germany always be described as "Fascist" rather than "National Socialist" to avoid any possible confusion between their 2 countries forms of government. You can read an analysis of the "Misuse and misreading of "Fascism" " in Professor John Lukacs' seminal work "Democracy and Populism--Fear and Hatred."
Bob K.| 1.9.11 @ 9:22AM
And the "FEAR AND HATRED" that is discussed in the book is being played out in all the political blogs and responses to them in America today!
A small sample of them can be found below; here in Mr. Goldstein's blog!
Padraig| 1.9.11 @ 8:38AM
Smarty pants Liberal Reader perhaps you should read Jonah Goldberg's "Liberal Fascism" which is an in depth examination and analysis of the roots of fascism and maybe you would realize your assertion above is devoid on any underpinnings.

The mistake many make is to believe that since Hitler (Facist) was against Communists and the Soviet Union before and during WWII that facism is “right” and communism is “left”. That it is, from my reading, incorrect.
Hitler was against communists not because of any ideological difference but because they were competition to his taking over Germany. After all, Nazi is short for Nationalsozialistiche Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (National SOCIALIST German Worker’s Party). The biggest difference I believe is that the Nazis were for supremacy of the German race (and start the Third Reich) and make rest of the world serve them. Communists were for a worldwide workers party that would throw off the chains of the elites. But the distrust of “others” (both are anti-Semite), of big business (though German business knew which side of the brot their butter was on and quickly became supporters), the rich, religion, and the dislike of capitalism was evident on both sides and made them more similar than different.
Obviously don't get my history from same source as Liberal Reader.

http://www.outsidethebeltway.c.....rspective/
Jack| 1.8.11 @ 9:39PM
The point is not that Sarah Palin wanted Giffords or these other members of Congress dead, or that she was calling others to take violent action against these government officials. Rather, this event highlights in tragic terms what can happen when you recklessly and irresponsibly use violent language and imagery in your campaigning. The targets she used weren't the cliche bullseyes, they were gun sights. This imagery was deliberate, the talk of using "Second Amendment remedies" by major political candidates was deliberate, and it creates a dangerous atmosphere of violent dissent against the United States, upon which the fringe right will act upon.
It is no accident that the Oklahoma City bombings happened right after the "Republican Revolution" of 1994. Now, after the recent "uprising" against the Democrats in the House this past election, we have another horrible violent act against innocent victims by a far right-winger.
Palin and her far-right cronies are stoking and misusing a festering anger among the right-wing fringe elements of society, and they cannot control it.

I wish I could believe, even for an instant, that a few blabbering left wing wingnuts would be the end of this. Unfortunatly, I can't believe that it is.
Never let a good crisis go to waste. Expect to see the FCC push the "Fairness Doctrine" through. Afterall, the Government must have some control over the hate mongers on radio and television like Limbaugh and Beck. Why, without some control over their hate speach it might lead to another Democrat getting shot.
Expect a loud cry to curb our right to bare arms. Afterall, we can't have those beer drinking ignorant lower classes have a gun, why they just might shoot another liberal.
Expect the left to come on television and in pompus senatorial tones condem every consertive in sight, and a few that aren't.
Gentlemen, I wish to God that the babblings of a few idiots would end and we could regain a hold on sanity. I just don't believe that will happen. This is too good a situation for the left to pass up, and believe me, they won't.
Johnnie Smith| 1.8.11 @ 10:00PM
What are you talking about you babbling idiot? It's not that you are ignorant. It is... that you are STUPID. A 9-year child died today and you and the other FAR-right loonies are responsible. Is that so hard for you to accept. Burn in hell.
Sea_Hunter| 1.8.11 @ 10:32PM
Johnnie; I admire how well you have expressed the difference in the world view of Consertives and Liberals. For a liberal it is always someone elses fault. It was Sarah Palin, or Rush, or Glen who made him do it. Or as you suggest, FAR gight loonies. In the consertive world view each person is responsible for his own actions. Palin didn't pull the trigger, the 22 year old white male did. He and he alone is responsible.
In the liberal world view, a person can be MADE to do something. Indeed, that is the whole rational for a big government. "We will make you pay for insurance." In the Consertive world view, no one can make you do anything. Doing requires personal choice.
Am I a loonie for believeing that he is responsible for what he did, and he alone? I don't think so. He took the gun, he loaded the gun, he aimed the gun and he pulled the trigger. Yes a 9 year old girl died today, and like you I am angry-sad over that. But unlike the left, I chose to blame the shooter, not anyone who may disagree with my vision of a world where each of us is held responsible for his own decisions, held to account for his own actions.
Eric Cartman| 1.9.11 @ 1:56AM

No other potential presidential candidate on the right thought it was a smart thing to make a map with gun sights on Democrat House districts .
Obviously because it wasn't smart.
No other potential Republican nominee is now embroiled in this awful shooting .
They can all issue heartfelt statements , like Michelle Bachmann's personal one to Gabby and act like statesmen
instead of being a potential defendant in a wrongful death suit.
If there is found the smallest shred in this monster's computer or papers or videos showing that he saw Palin's directive,
the lawyers will jump on it faster than a chicken on a Junebug.
When you issue a challenge framed in the improper and indefensible way that Palin did ,
it shouldn't surprise anyone that a sick person may take that challenge literally.
If a Democrat operative made a map with a target over a House Republican , told his supporters to " reload " and " take aim " and that Republican was eventually shot by some nutcase ,
would we conservatives immediately absolve that Democrat ?

It's hard to believe anybody could be so dense and bigoted. Follow his logic, whenever a lunatic murders a bunch of people we should immediately discern his political views and place the blame accordingly. He mistakenly puts his faith in the political opinions of a young, 22 year-old murderer, as if that is the primary thing to be concerned with. He also completely ignores the initial evidence which points to this person's leftist views. Meanwhile, he helps to show how the left, through their biased media, prematurely and conveniently blames conservatives for murdering children. Typical, hypocritical, drivel.
Barbara Gardner| 1.8.11 @ 10:46PM
Paul Krugman, Jane Fonda, The Daily Kos and John Nichols of The Nation seem rather quick to lay blame, they must be thinking of their own tactics and are assuming conservatives play the same game...I am sure much to their chagrin, the man that shot all those people is being reported as a left wing radical liberal, and I am sure he was not doing the bidding of any conservative let alone Sarah Palin.... cross hairs my butt, how stupid and juvenile can they get in their vain imaginings... I have a question for those on the Left who visit this site and comment, particularly those who have made a link between this guy and the Tea Party or GOP.
Why is it not okay to use the acts of jihadists, suicide bombers, or other terrorists as representatives of Islam, but it's okay for you to use this nutjob as an example of a movement that represents millions of Americans, and is based on the founding principles of our country?
Well there are, you should understand, seldom more than a few short hours between the time that a tragic act occurs and when its perpetrator's political beliefs, if any, come to light. The Venomous Left needs to take advantage of every single minute to paint the perp as a right wing extremist, before the actual facts are known. After all, those hours are the most important in shaping the public's perceptions and recollections of the event.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to read The Communist Manifesto, which, as you know, tops every good right winger's list of favorite books
martin j smith| 1.9.11 @ 8:18AM
The attempt to politicize this horrendous situation by the Left and that includes YOU LIBERAL READER IS CRIMINAL. IT IS FLAT OUT LIBEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would like to know more about the perp and if he had any assistance what so ever from anyone. I would like to know what that person is and their background. I do not expect to get the truth especially once our FBI and other Federales get involved. Never the less lets see what we get and there are people out there who will dig and get as much as possible for us to make our OWN JUDGEMENT. We do not need the NYT and their fellow travelers to tell us what their version of the truth. As far as I am concerned, Krugman and the NYT are liars and provocteurs and are responsible to some to the hostility in the nation on the political scene. Even allowing this piece to be published in such a raw time in our nation is telling who these people like Krugman really are.

Jeremiah: "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to read The Communist Manifesto, which, as you know, tops every good right winger's list of favorite books".
You do realize that sarcasm sometimes doesn't always come through when you write it, like it does when you say it, especially on a topic such as this? I think it gets lost in translation or something.
Now I'm a member of the "Right-wing", a part of the Tea Party too (actually I'm President of my local chapter-although I'm still its only member), and I like to use sarcasm every now and again (actually, it's more like a breathing to me), but the Communist Manifesto is "not" one of my favorite books, nor should it ever be for any American. And that goes for Mein Kampf too, Hitler's book is "not" on the Tea Party reading list either, mostly because it's insane, but also because it's all about how great Socialism is, and it isn't great (and yes, the Nazi were Socialist, which is from the "Left", not the Right). But your right about one thing, the Left is doing all it can do, to paint this guy as being from the Right so that they don't have even more blood on their hands than they do already, like Jane Fonda hanging out with her Viet-Cong friends. Maybe Bill Ayers will write a book for this guy someday, that will explain away his actions, and make him sound like a moderate (that Loughner can then release under his own name)?
I'm relieved that this guy wasn't an Afghanistan Army Veteran, like the early reports were saying he was, because that would've fit perfectly into the Left's narrative, that returning Veterans are the biggest Terrorist threats that we face today (not the Muslims, but the Army Vets). The Left would've just loved it if he had been in the Army, who had just returned from killing Afghanistan Children, but alas he was just a Leftwing, Communist Manifesto reading. anti semitic pothead (not really what the Army is looking for in a Soldier).

We are seeing the Left's true face: In the environment of tremendous grief what do we see group of Lefties do: politicize. They DO NOT CARE AT ALL ABOUT THE VICTIMS OR THE FACT OF THE SHOOTING ITSELF. NO, NEVER FAIL TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A CRISIS. RIGHT GUYS ( OR IS IT left guys ? ). THAT IS YOUR MOTTO ? TIME TO CALL OF THESE LEFTIES OUT AS LIBELOUS,CRIMINALS AND ANTI AMERICAN.

Folks,
This reaction from the communists, (pardon the shorthand), and their dupes, is as predictable as sunrise......isn't it?
Hassan the muslim terrorist wasn't a muslim terrorist at all in their view...but simply a deranged individual.
Conversely,
Of course they point their fingers straight at the TeaPartiers and/or Sarah when a deranged individual loses it.
In the end, the Left is made up of toddlers; dangerous toddlers to be sure, with their open boxes of matches.
This shooting was a tragedy, and my condolences go out to those hurt and killed, and to their families and loved ones. They will be in my prayers.
The irony in all of this is that those victims and loved ones are in Sarah's prayers as well.

Those famous cross hairs are actually the unicode character for position indicator. It lives at unicode 2316 and you probably have it on some font on your computer so that it will display correctly when used on a web page. If you want to illustrate positions on a map, it makes sense to use the position indicator symbol.

I guess you 'Baggers' got your 'Second Amendment' Remedy like Sharron Angle wanted, you happy now?

Palin is down, obviously.
Alaska?
Oldefarte| 1.9.11 @ 12:50PM
I, along with others, have simply had it with liberals. Blaming Palin, the tea party movement, etc for this tradegy is a typical radical reaction by them, when in fact, it is their followers who should be blamed [since they are mostly STUPID]. Conservatives' reaction to this is/would be to assist [if present] the victims medically etc, to pray for their survival and healing, to donate their money toward the victims' recovery efforts, to moarn the injury and loss of life, etc. The left alternatively is to [as the Chicago candidate for mayor suggested] take full political advantage of these tradegies, and that is exactly what this old bag, washed-up, worthless former B-grade actress and her liberal followers are now attempting to do, by blaming Palin and the tea party. It is the stupidity of the left that is being manipulated by their leftist MSM, west coast radicals, etc into believing that conservatives are to blame. Their followers are simply STUPID, and there is no kind way of disguising same. The left's leaders brainwash their stupid followers into believing their propaganda, and in this case it is that conservatives' use of political wording like TARGETS and AIM covertly to achieve their radical political purposes. Conservatives go to their churches and pray and grieve, while liberals take to their leftist dominated airwaves and newspapers to propagandize their brainwashing messages to their stupid followers/constituents. The Daily Kos uses wording like MISSPELLED TEA PARTY SIGNS is a joke [at least tea partiers know how to make their own signs and don't have to depend upon their leaders and machines to spell/print their signs like the liberal movement's protesters do]. It is this STUPIDITY and BLIND IGNORANCE that tea partiers are protesting against, and why the liberals' futile attempt to pin the tail of this tradegy upon conservatives is so utterly sad!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just be glad the Republicans took back the House, otherwise we might see another attempt at disarming citizens. We might see it anyway, and I am sure we will hear calls for it.
I understand the Congresswoman is pro-gun rights, like President Reagan. This will throw a huge monkey wrench in the freedom grabber’s (liberals) agenda.
She, the other victims, and the families and friends of those lost and injured are in my prayers.

Let me make it clear for liberal reader and all the other deranged lying wackos that make up the left...the shooter is one of your boys! Every hour that this story is being covered more information is coming forward to the shooters obsessions and political orientation....he was fascinated and obsessesed with left wing rhetoric and ideology...he loved burning the American flag and spouting off with the usual left wing rants. Hey, maybe he could guest host for Olbermann when he takes vacation?

Newsmaxx reports, "ABC News reported Saturday night that Loughner had identified among his favorite books "The Communist Manifesto" by Karl Marx, Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf" and the fiction classic "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" -- hardly the reading list of a Palin supporter.
Other clues have emerged about Loughner's persona from Arizona press reports:
He is "described by friends and former classmates as a loner, prone to dressing in black regalia of boots, trench coat and baggy pants even on the hottest days." He was removed from Pima Community College for causing disruptions in classrooms and the library, college officials said. His dispute with college officials led him to post a bizarre YouTube video declaring the college illegal under the U.S. Constitution and culminated in his suspension from campus.
His rants against the government that have surfaced on the Internet don't suggest he had a conservative perspective on big government. Instead Laughner's MySpace featured a photo "showing a close-up picture of an automatic handgun sitting atop a book or paper titled 'United States History.'" Another video shows a masked man burning the American flag.
"I can't trust the current government because of fabrications," Loughner wrote in a YouTube slideshow. "The government is implying mind control and brainwash on the people by controlling grammar." Loughner suggests that he was rejected from entering the U.S. Army to which he applied because he was offered a 'mini Bible' during the recruitment process, but that he declined to 'write a belief on my Army application and the recruiter wrote on the application: None.'"

All of you miss the message, this was a liberal telling his liberal leaders to keep in line or else you will be replaced with someone who will.
