Bill Daley, brother of outgoing Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, has been chosen as White House chief of staff; President Obama will formally announce the move this afternoon. Interim chief of staff Pete Rouse, who many thought would be made permanent CoS, is instead being given the new title “counselor to the president.”

And former Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is, of course, running for mayor of Chicago. Did the President of the United States just use the White House as a patronage vehicle to secure the Daley machine’s support for Emanuel’s bid? I think he might have!

The White House as patronage vehicle?! How dare you! Would a man who inhaled the innate honesty of Chicago Politics use the White House as patronage vehicle? I ask you, would a man who taught ACORN how to organize and befriended a couple who bombed our Pentagon and took place in other terrorist attacks use the White House as patronage vehicle? Where do you get off with such maligning?! Good day with you, Sir!

Dear Eric,

I concur with you entirely. Just because I hied out of Chicago at age 18 immediately because I "couldn't stand the whiff," doesn't mean that I would ever think that Emanuel and a Daley could be guilty of "sharp dealing!"

Why, that would be like accusing a male hooker who specializes in fellatio of committing "gay homosexual" activities!

I wonder what played into the decision more. Was it Daley's thorough mastery of the most highly evolved form of corruption the US has ever known or his connections with those evil "fat cat" bankers?

What else is new...that's how politics are played in Chicago. The funny thing is, Chicagoans are used to this type of political play so we knew what the White House would be like with Mr Obama was elected; but the rest of America didn't have a clue...but they may be starting to catch on. "Interim chief of staff Pete Rouse, who many thought would be made permanent CoS, is instead being given the new title "counselor to the president.""

The title is incorrect. My sources say the correct title will be "Consigliere a capo di tutti capi". ;)

So net/net, Obama is adding another high-paid thug to his White House posse. May we ask what bandito Rouse's salary will be? No, never mind. I don't want to ruin my day.

What part of "hope" and "change" includes cronyism and o' l fashioned Tammany Hall back room deals?

For those of you who disagreed with the statement last week: 'this administration is corrupt'. Now we know for sure that this administration IS the most corrupt and will now go down in the history books as such. Maybe they could call if the Obama Mafia.
