Jim:That kind of slur honestly just makes Tucker look like a wishy-washy wimp. The real opponents of right-wing treachery have moved on from “unpatriotic” to, uh, neo-Calhounite Confederates.

Any authentic American conservative should, of course, be proud to be called a neo-Calhounite.

Alan Brooks| 12.21.10 @ 2:36PM

Please tell us which region has consistently had the highest crime & poverty rates?

Red Phillips | 12.21.10 @ 3:01PM

Mr. Brooks, I sometimes wonder if you are spoofing a liberal saying intentionally dumb things so as to discredit liberalism. If you control for demographics the white crime and poverty level in the South is little different than the rest of the nation with some exceptions that can be explained by a variety of complicating variables. That the South was long economically behind the North might have a little something to do with the fact that you invaded us, destroyed our resources and killed off a substantial portion of our best and brightest, but that's just a little detail I guess.

Calhoun was an ass on so many different levels it beggars the imagination. He helped kill more Americans than any statesman in US history. Oh, and screw slavery.

Sorry, I'm a Republican. And that starts with Lincoln, not Calhoun. Keep in mind the great Andy Jack hated Calhoun, too.

Occam, your name gets one thing right at least, you are most certainly a tool.

If you are from Texas, and I assume you are because you said you went to a Texas University (unless I'm mixing you up with someone else), then you are a disloyal ass. Lincoln invaded your home state. Calhoun defended it.

Alan Brooks| 12.21.10 @ 2:35PM

The South is the worst region in America.

Occam's Tool| 12.21.10 @ 3:03PM

I'm not entirely sure I would entirely agree with that, Alan. Atlanta has some great universities, and Huntsville is, well, rocket science. That being said, Calhoun was an ass.

Quartermaster| 12.21.10 @ 4:00PM

And Lincoln was an anti-constitutional tyrant. Andy Jackson was a hot headed backwoods thug who executed more troops at New Orleans than the battle killed.

Calhoun may have been an ass, but he didn't kill anyone. That job was left to Lincoln who shredded the constitution and established the political order that is finally coming to an end as a result of financial policies that Lincoln himself pioneered.

To place Lincoln on a pedestal is an act of stupid, and ignorant, delusion.

Brooks, you're a blithering idiot.
