Here are the six Republican senators who voted to repeal “Don’t
Ask, Don’t Tell”:
Scott Brown (R-MA)
Susan Collins (R-ME)
Olympia Snowe (R-ME)
Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
Mark Kirk (R-IL)
George Voinovich (R-OH)
Only Voinovich, who is usually more conservative on social
issues than economics, was a surprise to me.
UPDATE: Two more Republicans voted for the final passage of
DADT: Sens. John Ensign (R-NV) and Richard Burr (R-NC), both
surprises. The initial post referred to the six Republicans who
voted to advance repeal by invoking cloture. All six voted for
final passage.
Adios To The Stupid Party!| 12.18.10 @ 2:34PM
Why are these six leftists in The GOP? Oh yeah that's right, The Stupid Party are the "Big Tent" Party. The Party of Wile E. Coyote strikes again & helps advance the Obamanation of America. This is why I am no longer a Republican & never will be again. To those who will inevitably make excuses for these six spineless RINOs & the other RINOs in The Stupid Party & continue to vote for them because they "sometimes vote with The Stupid Party", you deserve to be ruled, not governed by clowns like Barack Obama & Democrats like Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid. You don't win the big game with players from the other team in your huddle. For me it's good riddance to The Stupid Party & none too soon either.

Cleaning out old papers this morning, I discovered letters I had faxed to protest one of the myriad RINO sellouts--in 2005.
The letters are addressed to none other than Collins, Snowe, and Murkowski.
Some things never change.
Greta| 12.18.10 @ 3:39PM
Voinovich should not have been a suprise. If he had chosen to run this time he would have lost in a primary. He is RINO and glad to be rid of him. Replaced by a solid guy in Portman but votes will tell. Too bad we are going to still have Murkowski in Alaska. The real issue with DADT is that in the military, you not only work and fight together, but you are forced to live in close quarters unlike other jobs. Since they now want to have gay men who by definition are sexually attracted to men bunking and showering with guys who by nature have a little more testosterone, I expect some issues to develop which will now mean the gay soldier will be OK and the normal one in trouble for telling him what he thinks of his advances. With the change, they need to develop on policy to go with it that states clearly that the gay guy cannot make any advances on other soldiers in any way. the question I have is if sexual attraction is no longer an issue, will they still have seperate quarters and showers for men and women? If not, why if it is a civil rights issue? Maybe they could have gay guy barracks.
tatosian| 12.18.10 @ 7:04PM
Greta-
A DOD working group study, “Report of the Comprehensive Review of the Issues Associated with a Repeal of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’”, "...permitting heterosexuals to use separate showers, bathrooms and bunking facilities from homosexuals of the same gender would “stigmatize” homosexuals and be “reminiscent of ‘separate but equal’ facilities for blacks prior to the 1960s."
Heteros will do what they're told. And like it if they know what's good for them.
And oh yeah, thank God Scott Brown's a tea party guy huh?

We need to start right now and vote these 6 senators out of office. Murkowski is showing her arrogance. People of AK wake up! Start right now and get someone to run against her in 6 yrs. She is also a big time porker who is going to bankrupt this country.

the true conservtives need to marginalize these senators and any other rino lite weights who are allowing this moral cancer to spead within our military

Burr and Ensign also voted to repeal in the final vote. Interesting statement from Burr about how he thought that the policy was outdated, disagreed about the timing, but decided to vote given the first vote.

Voinovich voted as he did because he's no longer beholden to such wonderfully rational, tolerant folks as seen on this web page.
Speaking of RINOs, is the GOP Congressional leadership RINO too for helping to pass Obama's Second Stimulus? :)
4thsos| 12.19.10 @ 8:07PM
the rino repub leadership blew a golden opportunity to let the obama/socialists swing in the wind with the largest tax increase in history the obama presidency would have imploded the incoming repubs could have crafted a budget that included across the board cuts in spending and taxes biden got to mcconnel to save the obama presidency mc connell has to go this set us back years we need party leaders who are warriors not political hacks trying to save our first black socialist president from himself

I really don't understand all the anger over the issue and accusations of "sellout". Gays have served in the Military since....well, forever. What is the big deal?? In combat, if someone has my back and my trust, who cares about his/her sexuality? Do you honestly think now that gays can be open that they're going to be sneaking into other members beds at night and such? That's called sexual harassment and grounds for discharge from the military. This is really a non issue. Give me a break. Senator Scott Brown is my senator. I am a fiscal conservative. He has kept his promise regarding that aspect. His vote on DADT doesn't faze me one bit. I am very proud to have him as a senator. He is doing a fantastic job. For all the gays/straights in the military that are protecting me and all Americans this very moment....THANK YOU!!!!
CalMark| 12.18.10 @ 7:44PM

Lesser Weevil| 12.18.10 @ 8:03PM
I sure hope you're right, MK. Many of us fear that institutionalizing homosexuality will bring about a devastating transformation. See what it did, for instance, to the seminaries (http://www.catholicculture.org/news/features/index.cfm?recnum=21229). I do agree with you that we can't really expect better from Scott Brown, given where he comes from.
tatosian| 12.18.10 @ 9:23PM
MK-
True enough there have been homosexuals in armed services throughout history.
In combat, trust is earned on an individual basis according to the individual's performance under fire.
I don't know if you served in a combat role, but I did. I do not recall any gay guys in my immediate surroundings. (My immediate surroundings being, in order of closest, best known individuals to furthest, least known individuals; my fire team, my squad, my platoon, my company and so on.)
Again. I didn't know who might be gay and who might not be. It wasn't an issue. I gave it no thought.
I assume today's grunts were not so dissimilar. Until the repeal. Now those grunts have to deal with individuals who define themselves solely by their sexual acts.
A majority of polled combat troops don't want to deal with that issue but politicians, like Brown, insist they must.
We don't know what the response will be to this bit of social engineering. Other than dire consequences for those grunts who may express their displeasure with the repeal of course.
And not knowing what a response might be is no more than experimentation isn't it?
Why would Brown and his friends put undue pressure on guys whose lives are already on the line just so homosexuals can celebrate their sexuality?
Why are those lives so irrelevant compared to this governments addiction to social experimentation?
Brown is to be commended for this? Really?
e cowan| 12.18.10 @ 7:49PM
According to "Politico" (Link on Drudge.com) it's EIGHT.
"The Republican senators voting “yes” with the Democrats on repeal were Richard Burr of North Carolina, Mark Kirk of Illinois, John Ensign of Nevada, Scott Brown of Massachusetts, George Voinovich of Ohio, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska – and Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, both of Maine."
I was appalled to see my senator - Ensign - on the list. Now he is on MY list - of RINOs never to be supported again.
BTW - isn't Murkowski an Independent? I suppose the head RINO's will let her keep her committee assignments in 2011.
4thsos| 12.19.10 @ 8:32PM
lisa is a very powerful politician who is owed a lot of favors for passed votes for other pols pet earmarks/payoffs thats the system that has to change right now lawyers rule the roost and i have met a lot of lawyers and the first order of business is getting paid not love of country or whats best for americans earmarks are a form of corruption pure and simple politicians would have a much harder time being morally corrupt if earmarks were banned
tatosian| 12.18.10 @ 8:25PM
Of course.
Any objection one might have to individuals being granted special privileges because of the sexual acts they engage in is irrational and intolerant.
I have a question; why is the desire of a man to bury his face in another mans lap a civil right rather than a civil liberty?
Another- Assuming he has the required credentials, does a self declared pederast have the civil right to run a day care center?
How about a sheep herder, currently "dating" his prize ewe, opening up an animal shelter?
Are those irrational intolerant questions?
Also, Voinovich was never beholden to the American citizen.
One example- In response to Hannity's questioning regarding his (Voinovich) support of the 07 Shamnesty push, an hysterical Voinovich shrieked (in part) "...during my 40 years in this business, I've voted on a lot of pieces of legislation, what I do is, I weigh them, I look at the pros, and I look at the cons, and then I make a decision. And if that decision is something that a lot of people are unhappy about, then they'll have to take that into consideration the next time I'm up for, for election." ( http://www.freerepublic.com/fo.....7620/posts ) (about 5 min. in)
The statement doesn't seem to exhibit any tolerance towards those Americans rationally opposed to an amnesty for illegal aliens.
I mean, who's this guy working for?
And speaking of amnesty, what sort of response will the dadt repeal evoke from rep. Gutierrez (and friends) whose Dream Act just bit the dust?
Will our illegal alien friends perceive the homosexual agendas success and their failure as encouragement or insult?
dominusveritas| 12.19.10 @ 12:16AM
The real question that we now have to ask is whether or not military Chaplains will still be permitted to preach Scriptural prohibitions on homosexuality? Will conservative, confessional ministers serving in the Armed Forces be forced to provide equal counseling services for homosexual couples serving in the military, or will those who submit themselves first to the Word of God be instructed to follow along or get out? Will military officers be forced to provide accommodations (counseling, re-education for other Soldiers) for their openly homosexual Soldiers? I am very concerned that this will translate into a crisis of conscience for many in the military, ultimately leading many fine men and women out of service, as they choose to put the laws of God before the laws of man.
JWWright | 12.19.10 @ 12:40AM
Voinovich doesn't have to vote like he expects to be re-elected. Brown has shown himself to be a stealth RINO, I wonder if he thinks no one will remember when he's up for re-election? Murkowski surprises me, but Snowe? How does she continue to be elected? She should go the way of Benedict Arlen.
Pelligrino| 12.19.10 @ 1:30AM
Agreed. There were 8 vermin voters yesterday. (9 when you count Lieberman)
I hope that all the Tea Partiers who worked for and celebrated Scott Brown just a year ago know how this termite voted yesterday.
He had the gall to raise his arms in jubilation and do all those interviews a year ago like some kind of heavyweight champion of the world.
Can we all say collectively, "A human fraud?!"
Boy, did he ever just kick ALL conservatives and Tea Partiers in the teeth.
Dump Scott Brown in 2012! (he'll be gone!)
No spine. No mind. No soul. (includes Sen. Lieberman – so many conservatives and patriots helped him win again in 2008)
Dominusveritas, we already have the denuding of our military of competent, truly faithful chaplains. For over 6 years it has not been permissible to say the simple words "In Jesus name we pray" when praying an invocation and MANY other such normal statements – for military chaplains.
It is presently impossible for a chaplain to be true to his Christian denomination's doctrine.
(Presently it is very, very rare to find a real, true believing chaplain that sees the military as a tremendous place to aid young Christians in their life walk with Jesus Christ or to openly share to the many unsaved the saving Grace of our Lord.)
The first chaplain that even suggests to a gay soldier, airman, Marine (I expect we'll know of a case by July or August 2011 at the latest) that he or she should also consider what the Bible has to say.....LOOKOUT! Here will come organizations ready to 1) terminate that chaplain on the spot, 2) deny him any veteran's benefits, 3) find some esoteric UCMJ violation to try to nail him on a felony-equivalent charge, 4) sue his butt using the pricey 6-figure salary ACLU legal beagle lawyers.
They'll so pummel the first 10 - 12 chaplains in the next 4 years that, well, any righteous chaplain will 1) end his service to take up a place in civilian life where he can minister, 2) not re-up, 3) never enter our military in the first place.
(The US military already has a desperate need for Catholic priests)
This means the young people of the military will go without solid spiritual guidance, teaching, and counseling -- in a period of their lives when this is essential.
Too many current-day chaplains are already so liberal. They are the anything-goes crowd. They are moral relativists to the core. They wouldn't know the difference between the Greek of the New Testament and a Greek fraternity’s platform at a top 10 U.S. party university.
The PC generals and admirals who have stood by as this DADT repeal travesty occurred? Don't look for them to come to the aid of the chaplains.
After all, they cannot bear to risk their retirements, lavish military pensions, Army-Navy Club memberships, well-paying DOD contractor jobs, and future media/TV expert analyst status.
Margie| 12.19.10 @ 12:48PM
The Bible tells us that the Devil is the Ruler of this world. (Jn. 12:31, 14:30, 16:11).
And that the whole world is in his power. (1 Jn. 5:19).
God's words, not mine!
Don't forget, his biggest trick is to make people think he doesn't exist.
Yet, when we come to Christ, or rather be drawn to God by Him, He opens our eyes. As it is written for all eternity:
"..having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you, what are the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power in us who believe, according to the working of His great might which He accomplished in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and made Him sit at His right Hand in the Heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come; and He has put all things under His feet and has made Him the Head over all things for the church, which is His body, the fulness of Him who fills all in all." Eph. 1:18-23.
He also said that the world would again become as Sodom and Gomorrah before He returned. That's the the open and blatant practice (and worse) of homosexuality. Read Genesis 19.
The politicians and even some Religious leaders who condone it are in the power of the Evil one, too. But it says in the Bible that God gives them "strong drink", He allows them to be deceived and even feel good about it. That's what strong drink does. Look up Proverbs 31:6.
While the Chaplains may not be able to preach the gospel to the young men and women anymore because of the wickedness of the world, Jesus will find them, and He will make a way for those young men and women to come to Him. He always does.
So, let not your heart be troubled.
For as it is written:
"My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's Hand." Jn. 10:29.
Scott Brown: How does it feel to know you voted on the side of the Enemy? Or are you consumed with strong drink, and think you did the right thing?

This is just another stab to the heart of America by obama and all who support the left's demoralization of America. They have jammed the gay thing down our throats for so long , we don't flinch when men french kiss on daytime soaps, and are seen naked in the shower on television.
My kids don't need to know this crap-and I don't need to know about their habits either .
As for the military thing-not knowing if a guy is gay or not, will allow a corpsman to do his job and stop a guy from bleeding on the field of battle....but knowing-well that's a whole different story-I don't know a corpsman alive who is going to not second guess, or overlook completely a guy he knows is gay, who is bleeding. That being said, there are also tens of thousands of 18 year old testosterone filled kids considering enlistment, who just decided to go to community college, rather than have to shower with guys who want to have sex with them, or who want to profess their homosexuality over their esprit d'corps! This is a joke!
This has nothing to do with "equal rights" for all-this is solely another cog in the obama wheel to destroy our culture and turn us into an amoral, homogenized (pun intended) culture where no one is exceptional, and all are drones who accept anything and everything our gubment heaps on us, from eating what we are told, to serving with whom we are told.
Lastly, the forcing of heteros to shower and live with homo's(that isn't a pun or a jab-just a abbreviation), won't fly-and the mass resignations are about to start.
Mr. Gates-and Admiral Mullen, you have disgraced and turned your backs so far on your troops/sailors, you should be brought up on charges yourselves...the ROE are bad enough, now you have to throw this bullshit in their faces. I think you want to lose the wars in iraq and afghanistan-and I think you want us all to be dhimmis-what on earth has obama threatened you with that you completely ignore your obligation to those who serve under you? What could he possibly have on both of you to be such swine? You make me sick-and I am glad I don't serve under either of you, or the impostor in chief!
4thsos| 12.19.10 @ 8:43PM
its a natural leap to expect higher casualty rates for homosexuals in the service of their country fighting the farm boys in afganistan but then again most will end up shepparding the kinder gentler a i d and state dept types around
