Soon no Kennedy (you know which ones!) will hold federal office.  Reports the New York Times:

When the lame-duck session of Congress wraps up, Mr. Kennedy, 43, will return to Rhode Island, settling into his recently renovated farmhouse in Portsmouth. When his eighth term ends early next month, it will be the first time since 1947 - when John F. Kennedy became a congressman from Massachusetts - that no member of his family will hold a federal office.

What took so very, very long?  If we are lucky, it will be another 54 years before another Kennedy holds federal office.

I hope it's at least 64 years myself! (2011-1947 = 64)

"Never, ever again" would be best of all -- at least until the current Kennedy gene pool undergoes a complete purge.

There are so many others deserving this distinction: Clintons, Obamas, Gores, Bushes, Kerrys, Boxers, etc.

Not only is "Patches" gone, but Maria Shriver is also vacating the California governor's mansion.

Here's a deal: a Constitutional Amendment banning all Bushes and all Kennedys from all govt offices.
DEAL?

Oldefarte| 12.17.10 @ 4:02PM

Only if the deal includes all DOMESTIC TERRORISTS WITH DEGREES FROM COLUMBIA AND HARVARD LAW SCHOOL, WITH RANTING RACIST/MANICAL PREACHER-FRIENDS OF TWENTY YEARS, WITH BOMB THROWING HIPPIE FRIENDS THAT WRITE BOOKS FOR THEM, WHO HAVE ZERO POLITICAL EXPERIENCE ADMINISTERING ANY GOVERNMENT, THAT HAVE SOCIALISTIC/UN-AMERICAN/SOCIALISTIC PERSONAL PHILOSOPHIES,ETC!!!!!!!!

Oldefarte| 12.17.10 @ 4:07PM

PS: Oh, I forgot THOSE WHO RECEIVED THEIR POLITICAL/FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM THE LIBERAL SUBVERSIVE NORTHEASTERN FAMILY OF EXTREME CORRUPTION!!!!!

Alan Brooks| 12.17.10 @ 4:16PM

Northeastern? you mean, say, Kennebunkport?

Funny how American political dynasties peter out. The Adamses are long gone, the Roosevelts and Lodges 50 years dead, and the Longs about twenty years dead. The Kennedys and the Gores appear through and the Clinton dynasty looks as if it ends with Hillary. Can we not hope that the Bush dynasty is dead, too?

Alan Brooks| 12.17.10 @ 2:47PM

Amen, Derek. Many at AS recommend prayer:
so let's ask God to cut the Bush dynasty off at the ankles.

Oldefarte| 12.17.10 @ 4:04PM

The Bushes didn't have a hand in the death of political opponents, etc, did they?????????

Alan Brooks| 12.17.10 @ 4:19PM

All politicians kill people, they are not similar to Jesus forgiving His enemies..

Did any of you see Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg
rambling ums and you knows in her press debut?
Or the drunken or drugged rantings that Mr. Kennedy blamed on Ambien. These dynasties are at the end of their gene pool. Better to keep them home, clipping their coupons than foist them on us. Same for the Bush Family. I will NEVER vote for another Bush family member again. Sorry Jeb, but George ole buddy peed in your sand box.

Only if Milhous had contested the stolen election of 1960...one he would have won the recount, two the Kennedy clan would have disappeared in the bogs of Mass., JFK, RFK & Mary Jo would have lived longer/Ted would never have been a Senator, three Richard J Daley behind bars and last but not least no Robert McNamara and LBJ sending a half-million troops to Vietnam and the greatest irony of all no Watergate for Milhous...what goes around comes around. My God what could have been?

Mark| 12.17.10 @ 4:57PM

While mocking the Kennedy's is always fun,we should know better than to believe the NY Times. It's not true.Ted was too young to be a senator when JFK became president in 1961.The seat was held by Ben Smith until Nov,1962 when Ted,now aged 30,won a special election.

Bob| 12.17.10 @ 6:18PM

Patrick has other ideas, he will establish residence in the Bay State challenge Scott for his father's old senate seat and win it.

"If we are lucky, it will be another 54 years before another Kennedy holds federal office."

Or any office at any level, unless any of them are Republicans.
