Why would Assange bite the hand that feeds him?
Alan Brooks| 12.9.10 @ 4:10PM
The Russians bled for you in WWII, you ingrates.
dac| 12.9.10 @ 5:10PM
Off that post-election acid trip, eh Alan. Good for you. The Russians bled in WW2 initially because Stalin had bayonets, literally, at their backs as they marched towards the Nazi tanks. That didn't work out so well, so Stalin lied to the Russian people (first), then to Roosevelt and Churchill before betraying them all and sending many of these brave commoners to the Gulag (including, of course, plenty of their officers, who might have endangered his police state after the war was over). Not to mention the tender mercies of the Russians towards the Germans, Poles, Hungarians, etc. as the Red Army rolled through Eastern Europe while the other Allied armies diverted money and resources to Stalin. So if you'd like to go whack off to your shrine to Uncle Joe, feel free, don't think for a minute anyone in this country (or many others) owes the Russians a goddam thing.
Not that this has anything to do with signing a toilet-paper treaty that no Russian or Soviet has any intention of abiding by. See below.
Mike Ryan| 12.9.10 @ 5:17PM
The Russians didn't bleed for me or my father who after killing Nazis from North Africa, Sicily, Normandy, Belgium and Germany had to wait a week for the Russians to go into Berlin first!? Had we not waited, there NEVER would have been an East and West Berlin. How'd that work out for the East Berliners and the rest of what became the U.S.S.R.? Are you a Communist? Who are the ingrates? Who did the Russians bleed for?
Nick| 12.9.10 @ 5:56PM
Mr. Ryan,
I agree with your accessment of the East Berliners. At Potsdam, Truman should've demanded Stalin's forces return to the Soviet Union or face Patton.
But, after fighting in towns and cities across France, Ike decided to let the commies do the street to street fighting in Berlin. The Soviets lost 100,000 men taking Hitler's bunker.
This could've saved your fathers life.
mzk1| 12.9.10 @ 5:50PM
That is absolutely ludicrous. The Russians were allied with the Nazis until the Nazis stabbed them in the back.
dac| 12.9.10 @ 2:02PM
And this treasonous bastard "president" is carnival huckstering for the Senate to ratify a treaty with these Russian scumbags? Seriously?
If that limp-wristed kiddie rapist Assange leaked a single piece of Russian confidential information he'd be dead within 24 hours. Putin is KGB, he knows how to get things like this done quickly--hell, he'd probably even admit it and crow about it.
Why we deal with proven thugs, cheats and liars like the Soviets/Russians as if they are decent, rational people is beyond me. We'd be better off just writing them a $1 billion check, telling them to F off and in exchange, going about our business destroying Iran's nukes and building missile defenses. All the Soviets/Russians care about is getting paid off so they can drive state-sponsored corruption down, and create as many government welfare addicts as possible. Thus replacing party ideology and power (USSR) with addiction to state lucre (Russia). Means are different, result and the dirty, corrupt nature of the people is exactly the same.
Liberal Reader| 12.9.10 @ 4:15PM
Yes. This "treasonous" president is supporting a treaty that is also supported by every living Republican Secretary of State, President GHW Bush, and most Republican senators on the foreign affairs committee.
Gee, dac. Ever base your opinions on information? Or are you the stupid douche bag you sound like?
Nick| 12.9.10 @ 4:36PM
Marxist Reader,
All RINOs.
No conservatives support this treaty.
dac| 12.9.10 @ 5:05PM
Name a treaty, any treaty, ever in recorded history, that the Soviets/Russians have honored. I'll help you, there's exactly one: the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, which Hilter broke before Stalin got around to it.
Now, jackass, I don't take orders or ideas from a group of elitist cocktail-party diplomats whose idea of success is "can't we all get along".
My point, which you're incapable of refuting, is that we cannot and should not attempt to make "peace in our time" (recognize the reference, coward?) with gangsters and scum who seek treaties with RINOs, leftists, and other ideological fellow-travelers who think they can stop guns with paper, ONLY because they know damn well that the raised-pinkie diploqueers are the only ones who have any intention of abiding by the treaties. Those who know they have no intention of keeping an agreement are plenty happy to sign it.
Weepy-eyed peaceniks like you continue to believe that if we turn ass-up for all the world's violent animals to hump us freely, they'll like us and won't kill us, because, well, they said so right here in a treaty, see?
You and cowards like you are worse enemies of this country than any group of slimy Russians. At least the latter are relatively honest and transparent with their motivations.
Mike Ryan| 12.9.10 @ 5:20PM
Right On, Right On, Right On !!!!
Mike Ryan| 12.9.10 @ 5:26PM
Have you read the Treaty? I can't believe you have and still support it. ??? Are you an American citizen? Why did you have to call Dac a douche bag? Why didn't you use facts to persuade him? Have you nothing to back up your stance? I mean something factual.
Nick| 12.9.10 @ 3:14PM
I'm surprised O'Bama hasn't been awarded the Order of Lenin yet!
