One
comment that President Obama made during his news confence that
hasn’t been getting much attention came after Obama was defending
his health care law to liberals for making progress despite the
need for compromise. He said:
(B)ecause it’s a big, diverse country and people have a lot of
complicated positions, it means that in order to get stuff done,
we’re going to compromise. This is why FDR, when he started
Social Security, it only affected widows and orphans. You did
not qualify. And yet now it is something that really helps a
lot of people. When Medicare was started, it was a small
program. It grew.
Yet that was the precise argument that critics of ObamaCare were
making throughout the health care debate. That it didn’t only
matter what was in this specific piece of legislation, but the path
that it put us down. Inevitably, ObamaCare will expand over time,
and just like the other major enititlentment programs, cost
signifcantly more than originally proposed and threaten our
nation’s fiscal sustainability.

Is that not what is happening with unemployment benefits?
The same congress bringing us Tarp is bringing us this deal.
The Republican negotiating position should be we will have a cut from the Bush Tax-cuts from current rates to two brackets 15% < $250k/yr and 20% for %>250k/yr in wages. Cap gains at 10%. Social Security at 2% invested in private accounts vice a 2% cut returned to payroll - each wage earner has their own account from which they can withdraw at age 65 of greater based on THEIR choice.
Instead, the magnificent leadership of our Senate team -the guys who gave us Crist, wasted $6M in CA when CO was winnable, etc - are saying what is on the table is a 'good' deal. Thank goodness primaries start in 2011 and we can get to work on this group of 'leaders' early; with a little redistricitng help we can add another 20-30 conservatives to the 68 (63 Congress, 5 Senate) we just put in fresh.
And as a final item to help make this deal good for conservatives and our children, we should include Bankrupcy rules for states so they can re-negotiate their public employee union contracts right after congress passes a national right to work law like Virginia's.
After all, We Won...
... and we're going to win more in 2012.

November's election has only shuffled the deck chairs on the Titanic once again. It would probably be more accurate to say they got the Captain to slow the ship a little, but for some strange reason they keep making excuses as to why no course correction is needed.

There's fresh blood coming, but unfortunately, the same dinosaurs--or should I say RINOs--remain in charge, because of seniority.
The people who should be in charge don't stay in Washington their whole lives because they have better things to do. That means querulous fools like Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, treacherous demagogues like John McCain, and corrupt criminals like Lisa Murkowski get seniority and thus keep their death grip on "The Party of Reagan."

It is kind of scary about the number of people in the U.S. who believe if I make $2.00, I should give you $1.00! I have agree about Lisa Murkowski...she is corrupt, but will get hers later. McConnell and Boehner are good, moral people trying to maintain a Democracy which I happen to love. I wonder why all the people who want communism just don't move to Germany or Russia. There they can shoot you if you want more than your share instead of paying you for your early choices in life by having babies you can't take care of, quitting school and saving money. Most of us did not have rich parents who paid for our schooling and we just kept putting one foot in front of the other until we succeeded. Guess I am a RINO!
