The French haven't been a great nation since Napoleon and it's just killing them. The Concorde was the latest attempt to be great again, which failed. Maybe King Louis wasn't so bad after all.

Say what you want about this ridiculous albatross, that was one pretty bird. Got to see a few take-off when I was flying out of JFK. A lot of bleeding edge technologybirthed in the '60s. Over all, about a 27 year run with 20 birds and one fatal crash. Not too bad, considering the technical challenge was so great no one else even tried, and has not tried yet.
