The Daily Caller reports that Eric Cantor has signalled a willingness to lead Republicans in supporting cuts to entitlement and defense spending.

Appearing on NBC’s “The Today Show,” Cantor told Matt Lauer that spending cuts in defense and entitlements are “on the table.”

“Are you willing to perhaps raise the Social Security retirement age?,” Lauer asked Cantor Tuesday morning. “Are you willing to make cuts in Medicare? Are you willing to make cuts in defense spending? Are any of those issues on the table?”

“I think, you know, we’ve got to have everything on the table right now,” Cantor said. “That’s also what we heard from the people on November 2. … Everything should be on the table. I don’t think we should leave any stone unturned while we’re trying to do what most have in this country have done, which is tighten the belt, which is to try and live within our means.”

It is a new development for Cantor to take on entitlements and defense spending, and an important one because he has significant influence in the Republican Party as the incoming House majority leader. If he stands by his Today Show statements, Cantor will have moved the agenda far past the Pledge to America’s goals in terms of reducing spending.

Ha ha. Lauer tried to push Cantor into a corner and wound up with mud on his face instead. One win for the drive to reign in federal government fiscal largess, one loss for main stream media liberal bias.

Cantor supported compassionate conservatism and voted for the Sept. 2008 bailouts. This closet liberal has no credibility at all.

Entitlements and defense must be cut, period.

Sorry Folks...but this guy is playing the rope-a-dope, just like the Repubs have done for 22 years now..
He is also out there caving in on Healthcare too...

They always say this stuff...and they always fold.

Don't be taken in by the "good cop" routine until you see CONCRETE RESULTS...then, be happy about it. Until then...I am done with them...

Now that these guys have even sent their SCARBOROUGH STOOLEY out there attacking Palin...I KNOW its "RIGGED"...

I support her and only her...because I believe this:

We support someone who is truly for the things we believe in. And they must be...since ALL of the parties and interests are trying to take her down...WHETHER SHE CAN WIN OR NOT.

Because either she wins...and has a chance...or she loses to Obama and we go even faster toward the ship sinking our Republic destroyed....THEN we can really start over again!!

BUT ONE THING IS FOR SURE...THIS GOOD COP/BAD COP crap...HAS BECOME USELESS PROPOGANDA TO ME.
