The Spectacle Blog

Syndicated columnist and CNN contributor Roland S. Martin has called for violence against Sarah Palin.

Martin took Palin to task for criticism of First Lady Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity initiative.

Martin writes, “Hmmm. ‘Let’s Move’ is Obama’s kick? Maybe someone should kick Sarah Palin so she can understand how devastating obesity is to the future of the United States.”

Well, needless to say, if a conservative writer (like myself) had suggested that President Obama or the First Lady be kicked, we would hear a chorus of cackles telling us how violent conservatives are. But I guess it’s O.K. for Martin to call for violence against Sarah Palin simply because she expresses an opinion contrary to his own.

Martin should do the right thing and publicly apologize to Palin. But will it happen? Fat chance.

In that case, CNN should fire Martin.

This is pretty weak. From time to time I've heard liberals complain when conservatives use language that implies an enthusiasm for the actual murder of Democrats (Palin's "reload," Beck's weirder "poison," etc.). Even these criticisms seem a little silly.

Yours, however, is downright lame. I'm assuming you don't really mean to say that Martin is actually threatening to kick Sarah Palin or actually encouraging any other person to kick Sarah Palin. Anyway. Explain to me why this isn't a stupid conversation again?

There is no criticism of Palin that would not be interpreted by you (or, what is continually more astonishing) or her as anything but a "vicious" attack. (Have you noticed? Attacks against Palin in the media are always "vicious" for some reason.)

Palin does not seem very well educated.

There. I've insulted her children, threatened her life, stolen her dignity, trashed her reputation, sullied her honor, despoiled her land, offered to kick her, and revealed myself to be a thorough going marxist who is also a terrorist and a muslim. Some of you probably even suspect I'm black!

Wayne | 11.25.10 @ 6:06PM

Do you honestly think Obama has been well educated? If so, show us the proof?

Hank| 11.25.10 @ 11:40PM

Wayne,

Can I show you proof of what I think? Yes. I can show you proof. I do think Obama is well educated. I think attending Columbia and Harvard, and I think becoming president of the Harvard Law Review, and being a successful instructor at the U of Chicago, suggests at the very least that Obama was well educated.

Do you think he's well educated? I suspect not. I suspect you'll tell me all about how you personally have never gotten to see his college records, so you, Wayne, have no way of knowing whether he got a D in sixth grade algebra or not, so how can you, Wayne know it's not all one big affirmative action scam. That's what I bet you'll tell me. And you know what Wayne, I don't care. I don't think there's anything Obama could be said to have accomplished that you wouldn't attribute to affirmative action. That's because you're an extremely ignorant man. There's nothing Obama could do or say that would accept as even well intentioned let alone successful or worthy of respect.

Interested Conservative| 11.25.10 @ 11:51PM

Goodness sakes Hank - do you understand the difference between credentials, education and wisdom?

O a scale of 1 to 10, the higher number the greater, the POTUS is 10 on credentials, probably an 8 or 9, and alas, no more than 4 to 6 on wisdom - just average on the proof so far.

High ratings across the board are extremely rare, especially amongst our political class. Fortunately, democracy historically allowed the uncredentialed a path to power, at least until those with credentials and power started demanding more credentials.

We'll see if democracy is self-correcting in that regard. Tea Partiers seem to think so.

Hank| 11.26.10 @ 12:54AM

The question was whether Obama had received a good education. I think he did.

A good education doesn't guarantee someone will make good decisions.

Princeton and Harvard graduates running Wall Street banks looted the economy in during the past decade. Not that you people care, given how fun it is to talk about how evil Michelle Obama is.

George W. Bush had an excellent education and still managed to govern like a goddamn fool.

Hell, some of YOU may have even gotten an education, for all I know.

To say that Obama isn't well educated is ridiculous. To say that Palin isn't well educated is reasonable.

Because some fools are well educated does NOT mean education makes you foolish.

And yes, you do have to be well educated to run a modern state. You either have to be an extremely adept autodidact, as Reagan was and Palin most certainly is not, or you have to get your butt to school and learn something there.

Sorry, no exceptions.

greghawk| 11.26.10 @ 4:36AM

Hank - you work in the basement of the White House, right? Oooohh, you are so good with words- I'll bet you went to colldge two.

LMajito| 11.26.10 @ 7:14AM

every time i read a pompous comment that equates quality education with ivy league schools while denigrating education in non-ivy league schools as substandard, reminds me of Lynchburg College, Intel and 1994...see, i don't know if hank is too senile to remember or too young to have known that in the early days of the pentium chip, the i486dx4 version of it had a fpu flaw (that's the floating point unit which handles math calculations)...a math professor from Lynchburg (christian college where all of the ignoramuses go according to hanks' worldview) noticed what became known as the fdiv bug. Big pr nightmare for intel...remember listening to all of those students at these so revered(by hank and his ilk) elite institutions lamenting how their research and work of months has been a waste of time...when professor Nicely was queried as to how did he came to find the bug he just stated that he verified his work and found it...imagine that, a lowly professor at a insignificant college that actually wanted to verify the work of a computer output...how ignorant of him...or is it? my point is that if hank thinks that going to one of these ivy league schools equates a good education, shows he is not wise...

Hank| 11.26.10 @ 1:05PM

My comment was not "pompous." An earlier post challenged the idea that Obama is well educated and I responded to that challenge.

I did NOT equate education with wisdom. I explicitly denied such an equation was possible.

Elite educational institutions have really let us down in recent decades. I don't think they can escape severe criticism when it comes to corporate corruption especially. These CEOs who accept millions of dollars in bonuses while running their own corporations (and the economy at large) into the ground have no sense of corporate responsibility, they have no sense of themselves as LEADERS. The wealthy have become decadent, and that's bad for the average working person in this country. If educational institutions aren't addressing this problem, who will?

But it is repugnant to REASON to argue that because some who are educated are fools, education is folly.

In fact, education -- for political leadership -- is essential. It is absolutely essential that people learn HOW to ask good questions, listen to opposing opinions, and think abstractly and critically. It is utterly essential that our leaders be able to do these things. A little knowledge of history wouldn't hurt, either, and I see no reason to believe that Palin has learned these skills or acquired anything other than a superficial understanding of American history. Just my opinion. I'm not attacking her family or personality. I'm making a judgment as every freeborn American is entitled to do based upon what I've heard her say and what I've read that she's written. What else do I have to go by?

Palin has given me not one single reason to believe she has any special intellectual DEPTH or strength that would make her a good leader. And yes, these things, like education, are essential. Absolutely essential. And like I said, there are NO exceptions to this rule.

Republicans can best serve their country by running their SMARTEST, most informed, best educated, most insightful, most eloquent, most intellectually capable candidate against Obama. The bigger a challenge he or she poses to Obama on actual intellectual grounds, the better that contest will be for this country -- no matter who wins. The worst thing the Republicans could do would be to run a reality show, celebrity victim demagogue. It would debase our politics even more -- if its possible -- than they're already debased.

Warrior | 11.26.10 @ 2:01PM

Obama has been proven to be a political heavyweight and an intellectual lightweight. He is either a pathological liar or just figures the truth is a major inconvenience. The left kept falling all over itself with claims that W was stupid and worse in spite of his Ivy league education. The One has proven inarticulate without a teleprompter and while educated has shown little intelligence outside of his political/ideological Alinskyite beliefs. Palin may lack depth, but at least she has character. Republicans would best be served by running their most Conservative small government candidate regardless of what the media and you, the left perceive about their education and intelligence.

Yosemeti Sam| 11.27.10 @ 12:00PM

Ditto, Warrior!

BTW - have you read the book " The Best and the Brightest"?

Written by journalist David Halberstam.

Sho enough, Vietnam 'showcased' the best and brightest of efforts - of the well edUcated
Washington minds MANAGING that conflict during the Democrat party hey day.

Sho enough, no doubt - we's got a BLACK MONUMENT in Washington DC to graphitize
the power of said superior edUcated minds.

scooby| 11.27.10 @ 9:03PM

Warrior..Seriously? Obama is an intellectual lightweight? What pray tell is Sarah? The woman who has to write notes on her hand, the woman is who said we need to support our ally "NORTH" Korea, the woman who did not know the actual function of the Vice Presidency, the woman who can see Russia from her backyard, the woman who seems to have a beef against a really intelligent lady trying to fight against obesity, a woman who claimed to have quit being the Governor of Alaska to spend more time with her family, YET she has not done that because she is on every show who will take her, telling out right lies about The President of the US ,the woman who in many Republicans opinions caused McCain the election because of her outright ignorance and whining about "GOTHCHA" questions and then stating well I was joking knowing darn well she did not have a clue.. WHO is the intellectual lightweight? Take a good look at the resume President Obama and then compare it to yours.

Warrior | 11.28.10 @ 11:18AM

Great job scooby, you only prove my points. The liberal obsession with Palin continues. I am not a Palin cheerleader. I do not believe she is qualified to be President. Unfortunately for you, her resume prior to January 2009 contained more governing experience than your half witted chosen one. You liberals again are trying to compare the POTUS with a television commentator. Again, you take a quote from Saturday Night Live and attribute it to the person not the parody. She never quit to spend more time with her family, she quit because of the lefts legal onslaught which she did not have the financial resources to continue fighting. Name one lie she has told about the president. On top of that, name one gotcha question the media has asked of Obama. The left is becoming more deranged over Palin than it was of W, which speaks volumes as to the level of liberal derangement. Obama is an intellectual lightweight and comparing him to Palin further diminishes him in any public argument.

To further prove your imbecilic stance, you know want to compare Obama's resume to mine. Maybe the single dumbest statement ever made. By the way, Obama's resume wouldn't get him a managers job at Chucky Cheese.

Susanne| 11.27.10 @ 11:12AM

"Republicans can best serve their country by running their SMARTEST, most informed, best educated, most insightful, most eloquent, most intellectually capable candidate against Obama."

You left out some of the most important quailificatons: Honest, moral, and courageous.

Hank| 11.27.10 @ 4:36PM

Pray God they're honest, moral, and courageous, but they'd better be smart too, Susanne.

JmsA| 11.26.10 @ 10:43AM

Ok, Hank. Let's see the the One's transcripts, from Occidental College through Harvard. Bush released his for everyone to see.

RacerJim| 11.27.10 @ 11:31AM

Well Hank, since you replied to an earlier post 3 hours after JmsA posted the above, you leave us no other choice except to assume that you can't direct us to any of Obama's college transcripts...or entrance applications, student loan applications or Senior thesis. Therefore, it is fair and reasonable for us to assume that Obama lacked the intellect to be accepted into any college much less Occidental, Columbia and Harvard.

barak| 11.26.10 @ 11:32AM

thanks hank....I WAS pres of the harvard law review...and i deserved it....i ALWAYS kissed the LEFT nut in the sack!

psst and thanks for helping me cover up the fact that i was dumber and lazier than george bush....otherwise i would produce my GPA [in marxist studies of course]

yes hank, you prove lincoln was right...i CAN fool some of the people, all of the time.

peeps like you that is.

Mojo Risin| 11.26.10 @ 12:24PM

Education!!!??? Indoctrination is what Obonehead received. The commissar Obonehead, has not a lick of "common sense."

Hank| 11.27.10 @ 4:37PM

Nonsense.

SpiralArchitect| 11.27.10 @ 1:31AM

Education is not a sign of neither how "smart" nor "intelligent" any may or may not be.

BTW, the term was used a a figure of speech, big deal if Lib's or anyone wants to take someone to task over that - they will only look naive at least and foolish at most. Bah.

WJ| 11.25.10 @ 8:54PM

A blogger on another site writes about how conservatives are letting themselves be defined by those opposed to Palin. Just because a liberal bozo like Roland says mean things about Palin, does not mean she is good.

From what I read on these posts, Palin supporters are over-emotional hysterics that have no clear view of just how inadequate their candidate is.

To satisfy their Palin fetish they are going to impose another 4 years of Obama on us.

This posting by Goldstein is petty.

Jake| 11.26.10 @ 2:52PM

WJ- Your remarks are insightful , not spiteful .
Palin is the Obama of the right.
Both are blindly egotistical , immature and thin skinned.
Both complain constantly -he of FOX News , Republicans and talk radio,
she of anyone right , left and center
who dares to offer valid and or mild criticisms .
Supporters of Obama and Palin bully critics and anyone who fails to indulge in the same cult of personality they do.
Even mild critics are labeled racist or haters .
Their supporters are always on defense and encouraged by Palin and Obama to knee jerk support the latest gaffe, misspeak or blunder .
Neither Obama nor Palin seems particularly well educated
or familiar with the English language .
Obama is reliant on a teleprompter and without it, he is a stuttering and incoherent mess.
Palin's sentence structure and grammar must give English teachers nightmares.
Both seem intent on trying to sound much smarter than they obviously are.
Obama is seen by many as an America hating Socialist and Muslim lover and his very actions often validate that.
Palin is seen by many as stupid and goofy and she often comes across that way.
Neither one of them has the experience , background and wisdom to be the leader of the free world.
Yet, both they and their rabid supporters bizarrely believe they do .
Palin in 2012 only guarantees another four years of Obama , which will be even more devastating than his first four years.
If she had the love of country and maturity that she says she does , she would recognize that .

serfer62| 11.26.10 @ 3:31PM

Hank...are you black?

Ed| 11.25.10 @ 5:41PM

Palin is inept and ill-qualified to speak on behalf of right-thinking people. To think that she might one day get elected to the highest office in the land is, frankly, horrifying.

Rich Fisher| 11.25.10 @ 5:52PM

Hey, Ed, and just who are these "right" thinking people you speak of? Surely you don't mean those who murder babies for no good reason, or maybe it's those who advocate we allow queers in the military, or possibly the intellectuals who see nothing wrong with queers marrying each other. Let's not forget the right thinking people that think the 2nd ammendment is passe and doesn't really men what it say, or possibly you are thinking of those who accept the "fact" that man evolved from slime. Gosh, Ed, there are so many right thinking people on your side that I just don't know how we rednecks and rubes manged to kick your right thinking ass on November 2 and will totally run you out of town in 2012. Yep, you right thinkers sure are smart.

Dean from Ohio| 11.25.10 @ 9:35PM

Ed, please have your attack of the vapors off-site. BTW, what woman leaders do you respect? Are there any?

GBinPA| 11.28.10 @ 9:52PM

Ed, you're wrong. Palin is plenty smart enough. The Libs don't have answer for her.

Michael | 11.25.10 @ 5:56PM

ditto Rich....Ed is a moron.

Ziggy LaRue| 11.25.10 @ 7:27PM

What's CNN, and who's Roland Martin?

tonypal| 11.25.10 @ 8:23PM

Exactly. Why even bother giving this clown free publicity. There are people of significance on the left that need to be called to account for the hateful and destructive statements they make, due to their status and/or position. Roland Martin is not one of them.

Mike W| 11.25.10 @ 8:48PM

Did Palin really say that "we stand with our N. Korean allies" on Beck or is this just some absurd urban legend?

There is no way she is that stupid.

Frances W.| 11.25.10 @ 10:27PM

Yes, she did make that statement as she stood in her kitchen watching Russia from her window. I could go on and on.... but why? I can say however, I am more frightened of her supporters than I am of her. She would place us all in danger just with her comments when she meets with International leaders.

ejp| 11.25.10 @ 11:48PM

The fact that you actually believe a Saturday Night Live Tina Fey quote about Alaska as something Palin actually said is proof enough of how frighteningly gullible you are.

Rich Fisher| 11.26.10 @ 7:53AM

Oh, yeah, and let us not forget that intellectual giant from the left, Mr. Al "Global Warming" Gore, who didn't recognize the bust of Thomas Jefferson at Monticello. And I believe it was Sheila Jackson Leigh, that paragon of Left Wing Intelligence, who wanted to know if when the rover made it to Mars if it would land close to where Neil Armstrong had planted the Amerian Flag. Yep, those Liberals are a smart bunch. Not even worth listing the idiocy of Joe Biden. Then we have Mr. Teleprompter who can't string three coherent sentences together without it. Maybe Sarah is secretly a Liberal Democrat. Apparently she would fit right in.

wodiej| 11.26.10 @ 8:22AM

LOL...way to go Rich. Excellent. haha

Coco| 11.26.10 @ 3:51PM

Obama said we have 57 states and no one made as big a deal about that.

Rich Fisher| 11.26.10 @ 7:48AM

Yeah, kind of reminds you of Hillary and her "RESET" button in Russia, doesn't it. Funny how that was laughed off as just a "mistake".

Warrior | 11.26.10 @ 2:14PM

Frances, has Obama found those missing 7 states yet? I wonder how the Queen of England enjoyed that Ipod? I also guess in your world, the Olympics will be in Chicago, other world leaders were waiting for the One's insight when they avoided him at the climate change fiasco in Copenhagen, South Korea did an about face on their trade agreement because of the Tea Party, and while being counter intuitive, increasing spending will actually reduce unemployment and shrink the debt while unemployment benefits are the fastest way to stimulate an economy. And morons like you believe Palin is a danger. That's fantastic.

Hank| 11.25.10 @ 11:45PM

She did say this. There are recordings available online. It's on the Glenn Beck program. It probably was a harmless mistake. But these things... they start to add up.

I'm more concerned that I've never, not once, heard her offer a thoughtful, interesting, insightful, original, well informed idea -- not one -- in all the times I've heard her speak. To the extent that she manages to speak English sentences, they are full of mangled cliches, derivative and buzzword-ridden pabulum, extremely phony sentimentality, and mind-boggling, ludicrous illogic.

ejp| 11.25.10 @ 11:51PM

And the Obama and the 57 states comment of his meant what, exactly, to you?

Or how about the time Obama mentioned his "Muslim" faith and former Clinton hack George Stephanopolous (ABC's idea of a "journalist") had to gently correct him "you mean your Christian faith". (Imagine a president who needs his own prompter to remind him what religion he's supposed to be a practitioner of!)

Hank| 11.26.10 @ 12:49AM

Lame. I'm sorry, ejp. This is just lame.

Why do I NEVER hear anyone actually defend Sarah Palin?

Whenever anyone criticizes her, you people just start into some hissy fit that compares her favorably to someone else.

She may be stupid, but she's not as stupid as Obama!

She may be corrupt, but she's not as corrupt as Clinton!

That's how you people make your case, to call it that. Lame. Fucking lame.

greghawk| 11.26.10 @ 4:39AM

Ooohhh Hank -- the F* bomb!! I am soooo impressed. You're just the smartest person EVER to contribute. Thanks so much for reading this blog.

Rich Fisher| 11.26.10 @ 7:57AM

Gosh, Hank, we just don't want you Libs to feel Left (no pun intended) out in the am I stupider than a fifth grader derby. Every one of us has made some mistake in speaking in our life. That's why my mom always told me that actions speak louder than words. Obama's actions are much more dangerous even than his words. Lets give him those other 7 states to live in and we'll take our 50.

tonypal| 11.26.10 @ 10:42AM

Yeah, it's kind of like when someone talks about how bad the economy is and someone else with his lips permanently attached to Obama's hind quarters reflexively states it's all Bush's fault. Kind of like that, right Hank?

ejp| 11.26.10 @ 12:15PM

What's lame Hank old boy is your pathetic little attempt to spin your way out of trouble with an F-word to boot. Shows the lack of class that exists in the world of the Left to a t.

Palin made a human mistake that all of us have made from time to time. It's not worth trumpeting, but if you wish to, then kindly tend to the President who needs his teleprompter so much that he'll mispronouce the word "corpsman" as CORPSEMAN if the teleprompter says so! :)

Warrior | 11.26.10 @ 2:18PM

Hank, you progressive tool. You don't get it, this is like telling a moron to go into a round room and piss in the corner. Conservatives are not necessarily Palin supporters or fans. You, the left wants to demonize her while the ass clown that resides in the White House should be ignored. You are so dense that you can't for a second see that any criticism of Palin is satirical as long as you have a breathing parody as POTUS. So, to use your own word, go fuck yourself, you are the embodiment of lame.

sinanju| 11.25.10 @ 8:53PM

"The crisis that we're facing around childhood obesity hits everything," Obama said. "It's about education, what our kids are learning about nutrition in the schools, the quality of the food in the schools. It's about our neighborhood development. How are neighborhoods designed?

"Are our kids — do they have access to safe places to play? Are we structuring communities in a way that facilitates healthy living? Are there accessible and affordable healthy foods in our communities? And it’s about economic opportunity as well, because if folks can’t afford to put food on the table, then they’re eating what they can."

“So this is one of those issues that requires us to talk about a little bit of everything. And it makes us look at ourselves a little more closely and it makes us look at the broader society. So we’re beginning to understand this is a threat.”

This is the sort of Brave New World tripe Michelle Obama was spewing in the TV interview that prompted Sarah's criticism:

http://www.cnn.com/2010/OPINIO.....index.html

"How are neighborhoods designed"? "Structuring communities in a way that facilitates healthy living"?!? I agree heartily with Sarah that anyone who wants to "structure our communities" is interested in something other than just fighting childhood obesity and should be fought. I don't for a moment think Roland Martin was calling for violence against Sarah Palin or anyone else (that would be Ted Rall in the interviews for his latest screed: "An Anti-American Manifesto"). If this does draw attention to the grand plans Michelle Obama has to redesign our society then so much the better.

Purple Lips| 11.25.10 @ 9:41PM

Childhood obesity is on par with Climate Changer (formerly known as Global Warming). It is just another "crisis" which must not go to waste. Call it War Socialism by Other Means.

Hank| 11.25.10 @ 11:49PM

You're an idiot.

About 30% of health care spending in America today goes to obesity related disease. That means your premiums are skyrocketing because of obesity. Obesity is getting worse and worse, particularly in those who are obese as children.

Michelle Obama is not talking about FORCING anyone to do anything, dipshit. She's fulfilling a time-honored role of the office of First Lady, which is using her position to encourage Americans to improve themselves. Nancy Reagan had drugs, Laura Bush had reading. Unbelievable. You people are ridiculous.

Purple Lips| 11.26.10 @ 1:41AM

Oh yes, "obesity related diseases". Kind of like the extinction of the slant eye butterfuly and the so-called rise in summer flue can be correlated to Climate Change. Nope, Hank -you're the fool who willingly and happily buy into the crisis du jour concocted by our governing (or is it ruling) elites. Our Progressives learnt a thing or two these last 95 years. Keep the people off centered by creating crisis- many crisis. And Rahm's famous quip about never letting a crisis go to waste was a slip up.

There are plenty of diabetics who are anything but obese. I know a thing about stats. And almost all of these "studies" are works of statistical analysis whose only goal is to reinforce crisis, which little by little take away our rights. BTW, the vast majority of our health care costs come not from fatties, but from the elderly and emergency room visists -especially in states like California.

Rich Fisher| 11.26.10 @ 8:04AM

Well, dipshit,er I mean Hank, you once again show your even stupider than a 2nd grader. Want to try for Kindergarten? The reason health care premiums are skyrocketing is because the damn government has stuck their nose in where it doesn't belong. You can trace high health care premiums right back to LBJ and his Great Society. As a kid in the 50's and 60's we were able to go to the doctore, when needed, and pay cash because the government hadn't come along yet to "help" us with something that is our own responsibility. The time honored role of First Lady? Please. She's the only First Lady I know who hated America right up until her husband was selected as the Dems Presidential Candidate and then suddenly had to be "Proud of my Country" for the first time in her life. Time honored tradition of First Lady my ass. She's an insufferable, arrogant, stooge of Marxism. Which in everyday lingo means she's a Liberal Democrat.

Rich Fisher| 11.26.10 @ 8:05AM

oops, forgot that apostrophe in "your". Guess that makes me as dumb as Sarah Palin. I'll take it.

ejp| 11.25.10 @ 11:54PM

Yep, just force the taxpayers to foot the bill for salad bars in schools already run into the ground by the greedy teachers unions with their six figure a year pensions who aren't teaching those same children how to read. That's the Michelle Obama solution.

Hank| 11.26.10 @ 12:47AM

Jackass. Who's forcing you to eat at a salad bar? Give me a break. Do you EVER consult facts or reality before making an opinion, or do you just listen to right wing radio to find out what you think?

greghawk| 11.26.10 @ 4:40AM

Hank! Your Mama is calling. Back on your meds!

Morley| 11.26.10 @ 9:49AM

Let's see Michelle put down her cheeseburger and try her salad bar. She's a little broad in the beam herself.

tonypal| 11.26.10 @ 10:31AM

Hank, just wondering if you can make it through a single post without using the time honored playground tradition practiced by 9 year olds of name calling.

ejp| 11.26.10 @ 12:17PM

Hank, buddy, it's so funny to see your ignorance on display. Michelle wants the taxpayers to PAY for the new salad bars that the schools supposedly need to tackle this "problem". Meaning we, the taxpayer must pay for the salad when we are never going to eat any ourselves!

So amusing that you couldn't grasp that elementary fact. I guess that comes from being a resident of one of those non-existent seven states in the 57 Obama spoke of. :)

Brash| 11.26.10 @ 5:56PM

Hank, you're probably correct in all your assertions regarding Palin's intellect and Obama's education. It's doubtful that Palin will ever be nominated to run for president, at least by the Republican party, and it's also doubtful, after nearly two years of grievous governing, that Obama's Ivy League education will ever give him greater wisdom or a better sense of judgment. That said, let's return to Goldstein's original thesis--that because he is a conservative, had he made any mention of "kicking" one or the other of the Obamas, even in the most figurative of senses, he would have been excoriated in the press. I believe on the basis of what we see and hear from the mainstream press every day that Goldstein is absolutely correct. Wouldn't you agree?

Other than that, based on all your postings here, it appears you have way to much time on your hands.

LMajito| 11.26.10 @ 6:51AM

wow i guess hank is the official vulgar apologist(probably all that high end college education these blokes get) for the wh and left of center politicos today...btw hank ever seen a pic of Ms. Obama from the back? the size of that buttissimo maximus? she should worry about downsizing those gluts along with reducing her thunder thighs before going on about other people body size. what we have here is somebody so worried about making the world according to a pre-determined view of utopia that has totally forgotten to remove the speck on her eye.

Zulu| 11.26.10 @ 9:52AM

I think Hank is one of those WH internet trolls, working in the basement of Big White.

Ken (Old Texican)| 11.26.10 @ 8:07AM

ROTFL
Folks, while persons as above are sitting writing their ignorance for all to read, Sarah is busily selling a couple of million new books....uh...for cash.
She is also involved in a travelogue about Alaska at a $ 1,000,000 an episode. Her family's financial future is now secured.
Please folks,
give the ankle-biters a break. Sarah has already enjoyed more success than they will ever experience in a life-time.
I do love it when they come here and spew their pompous little head explosions though, I must admit.
They haven't read, (or comprehended), a word she has written. Their jealousy blinds them to reality.
Every time she draws a huge crowd of nice people who just enjoy "warming their hands" at her metaphorical camp-fire, their bitterness overflows once again.

Every time she exudes "wholesomeness"...while they exude bitterness and failure, I get a chuckle.
I hope you guys can chuckle with me.

LMajito, damn, and I was getting ready to eat my breakfast. You just ruined it for me. Hank, instead of throwing around your Leftist hate speech, why don't you try putting some of those "facts" you speak of into your posts. My guess is that it's because they come out of the same book written by Al Gore about Global Warming. Wonder why there aren't enough intelligent Lefty's in America to keep Left Wing radio on the air? I guess it's because people actually want substance in their radio rather than pre kindergarten drivel that passess for intelligent discussion on the Left.

Obama's own Surgeon General has a serious weight issue.

There is an obesity problem in this country, not just w kids but adults too. It is related to many health problems. However, the gov't has no right to mandate our food intake. Rate insurance premiums based on someone's overall health risks and charge accordingly. The responsibility is with parents, not the gov't.

Justine| 11.26.10 @ 9:47AM

Michelle's no fat kids initiative is pretty silly. And let's face it, Michelle is no sylph herself.

Kids aren't getting fat on school lunches. But they've taken away whole milk at our school and replaced it with one percent, which kids don't like and done other ridiculous things.

I blame the feminazis. Lots of kids go home to empty houses, because mom is out working. No one there to keep Junior's hand out of the cookie jar or away from the Coke bottle so he doesn't spoil his supper. He can plop himself down in front of the tv with a bag of chips and no one is there to stop him. That wasn't how it was in my day. Mom was home, gave us each a cookie or two and that was it until dinner.

But no one is going to mention this because it isn't politically correct. Better to blame school lunches and install nasty salad bars, which kids also aren't going like.

Do any of you people even have a clue? When I hear all of the "sides" talking about Sarah, I'm blown away. Mostly with disgust. Why don't you people grow a pair and when she's in your area, go and talk to her. You can you know, or maybe you don't know. Well I know, anybody can talk to her, she is as down to earth as they come. I haven't seen her in a few years since she started roaming around down there in America, but she used to be quite accessable to anyone. I have never heard of or seen any polititian anywhere ever who acts as cordial and kind to anyone wishing to speak with her. Until some of you out there actually have a face to face conversation with her, please just shut your mouths, you have problems and they didn't start because of Mrs. Palin. And for the majority of you people out there, just so you know, this is a fantastic state, please stay away!

On Obamas Education :
None of us have any proof of Obama's much vaunted education , as nearly two million dollars at last count has been spent to conceal every last one of Obama's records . It seems that the American people would require transparency in their elected officials , the popularity contest aspect of our political contest notwithstanding . Most Americans would be wise to ascribe Obama's success to the vagaries of pop culture and the less than salutary affects of affirmative action . Moreover , G W Bush had an MBA from Harvard ( all of which are earned ) and yet was ( as per the pop culture ) considered a dolt .

Mojo Risin| 11.26.10 @ 12:53PM

Yes, his education transcripts have all been hidden, out of sight, but his leftist indoctrination is out there for all to see, at least for those who want to see/admit it...

Mojo Risin| 11.26.10 @ 12:45PM

Palin is head and shoulders more qualified than the present white house inhabitant and if elected would be an asset to all Americans, not just the New Black Panthers.

Who-the-hell is this Roland Martin dip-wad and I suppose racism is not front and center with this schmuck!!!

Obonehead feels that just flying around the world in AF one is somehow validating his presidency, somehow feeling the trappings make the man. Obonehead and his rhinoceros hind-quartered Michelle are wasting American taxpayer dollars on their seeming desire for their own personal grab at racial restitution.

Who thinks Obonehead is a competent administrator/manager of anything, he couldn't run a low maintenance ant farm!!!

Since when is CNN or anyone affiliated with CNN believable enough to be taken seriously or trusted? PDS is becoming a more acute disease than BDS was & it truly brings out the worst behavioral characteristics in it's sufferers. Trust GOD, not the state-run media, politicians, or PDS sufferers. If the human mind was considered a piece of land Palin would be considered a land baron what with all the minds she lives in rent free. PDS sufferers need psychiatric help & a real life. This real life is possible only through Almighty GOD.

Frank Marschino| 11.26.10 @ 2:47PM

Okay, here's what it comes down to. The Secular Left, full of homely women, is jealous that a beautiful woman like Sarah Palin can also be smart, articulate, conservative and, worst of all, loves God! The horrors!

beebop| 11.26.10 @ 3:32PM

Those childhood pics of 0bama shows a fat little kid. Maybe the taunting contributed to his borderline personality disorder? Between his fatness and living in a foreign country with a mother who then sent him back to his grandparents, it is obvious that he has too many unresolved issues to have had a break on "normal."

But.

Having said that, the obamas should work out barry's issues in private and allow the US citizens to work out theirs.

drybackinpi| 11.26.10 @ 4:26PM

Who is Roland S. Martin? Didn't he do an outdoor show on pbs?

Actually, dry, I think it was on PMS. Something about a biography.

Happy belated birthday, Ben Stein. Cameron told me you are 66.

Rufus Jefferson| 11.27.10 @ 3:30AM

I really feel for ya, Hank. I agreed 100% with what you've said.

People -- by that I mean loyal conservatives -- where have you gone?! Where has your intellect and intelligence gone?

Truly, Hank's right -- Palin strikes any intelligent person as being 100% manufactured. Nothing she says is deep or insightful -- they're all one-liners to rouse up the naive, lemming, hick base of the Republican party, which believes anything related to small government, low taxes, or guns.

The reality is that we should champion an intelligent human being more than anything. I really don't like Obama, but I'd feel more comfortable with him being prez until 2016 than allowing Palin to be in office for a day -- simply because I know he's considered and confronted difficult questions and arguments in his past. Sarah? It appears her most trying times were spent figuring out what the nature-inspired names of her 14 children would be.

Bottom line: I'd prefer neither of them, and if Romney runs, I'll camp out to sign up at his campaign office. And don't give me this crap about "Obama's educated and look what he's done."

Ken (Old Texican)| 11.27.10 @ 8:59AM

Rufus,
I'm sorry you cannot afford her books. You might learn something.
Perhaps your local library might buy enough copies to keep one on the shelf...and you can read them free.
As I have stated before; I pray earnestly that she decides to run. She will at the very least force the other Rs to "man up".
Romney is a fine man in my estimation, just not right for these times.

Rufus| 11.27.10 @ 2:14PM

You mean her Ghostwriter's books? It's well documented that she had them. And yes, I've perused her books. It's easy to rally against spending and rouse support for tax cuts, take-your-hands-off-my-guns, etc.... until you realize the intellectual challenge it poses a president and Congress.

If you're looking to make the other Republicans "man up"... I'm with ya. But if our goal is to sideline Obama's agenda, I'm afraid we need someone who will get the electorate to *think*. A debate between Sarah and Obama would not hold a candle to a debate between Obama and Romney -- two brilliant minds, one of whom (Romney) has been battle-tested in many more ways.

Oldefarte| 11.27.10 @ 2:23PM

How MORONIC is it when an administration representative and a national new network are so concerned with obesity WHEN 10-15% OF THE POPULATION OF THIS COUNTRY ARE OUT OF WORK. Dumb ars*&holes;!!!!!!!!!!

scoobypuffgirl| 11.27.10 @ 9:38PM

Good points Rufus!

Ken (Old Texican)| 11.28.10 @ 12:35PM

Rufus,
I got a chuckle out of your use of words: "Yes, I have "perused her books". heh.

But you have not READ them have you?

It finally seems to me that you are merely a "blue coaster". Sarah's new book isn't about politics. It is all about values and one's character and hopes.

See, Rufus, we educated conservatives understand precisely how to get our country moving again.

Among other things, we need a President that will say "follow me"...doing those things.

It truly bothers me that you would automatically say what she believes, then in the same breath write that it isn't her thought anyway...duh...isn't that contradictory?
Sorry, Rufus. We can't fix stupid here.

Rufus| 11.28.10 @ 5:32PM

Rufus, are we supposed to check a huffy link? Fuck you. Are you crazy or are you just another alias of Hank's , the foul mouth troll that also goes by the nickname of vtwin? Dumb libturds... Do you realize nobody knows anything about BHO? Everything in his biography is buried in complete secrecy, we don't know shit about him! We don't know about his birthplace, his religion, his grades, we're just able to watch an axelroded and plouffed golem mumbling helplessly every time his teleprompter karaoke konks. How come the guy got elected? This is a fucking nightmare I would say if I had Hank Vtwin's education.

Jane Su| 10.7.11 @ 4:19PM

Let's see, Sarah Palin and conservatives like you believe a woman who has been raped and impregnated by her rapist should be forced to carry the pregnancy to term and give birth, so who's for violence here? That's like forcing a man who has been raped by another man to give one of his organs to his rapist because his rapist need s an organ transplant to continue living. Forced pregnancy is rape. Can I force you to give me your kidney? No? Then why do you think it's ok to force a woman to use HER body for another being, person, whatever you want to call it?
