As Americans gather for the time-honored Thanksgiving Day meal, let us rejoice in the abundance that graces our tables, in the simple gifts that mark our days, in the loved ones who enrich our lives, and in the gifts of a gracious God. Let us recall that our forebears met their challenges with hope and an unfailing spirit, and let us resolve to do the same.

-- President Obama, 2010

Teleprompter| 11.26.10 @ 4:23PM

"I've now been in 57 states — I think one left to go." —at a campaign event in Beaverton, Oregon, May 9, 2008

"It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." –speaking at a San Francisco fundraiser about his troubles winning over some small-town, working-class voters, April 11, 2008

"What I was suggesting -- you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith..." –in an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, who jumped in to correct Obama by saying "your Christian faith," which Obama quickly clarified, Sept. 7, 2008

oops. He will read anything I give him.

Hank| 11.27.10 @ 4:40PM

"57 states" was a mistake, but if you would look at the context you'd see it was quite a bit more minor than you suggest.

There are 50 states. There are 6 territories. There is Washington, DC. All have primaries. Obama was saying he was tired because he'd just been through 57 primary races (the topic he was addressing). Not so terrible is it?

Oh, never mind.

Eric Cartman| 11.29.10 @ 1:21AM

Oh sure, Hankie, the Quilted Obama Butt Wipe. And there are five 5 boroughs in Manhattan and two peninsulas in Michigan, forgot to add those. And didn't Obama talk to Telemundo? How many states does Mexico have? 31? Add those too. And when did Obama go through all 6 territories? Didn't know he was in Guam. Blah, blah, blah. Your boy is going down, Hankie. Like Al Gore, who didn't recognize a bust of Jefferson. HA! Tells us how tired he was, please. Dumbass.

As Americans gather for the time-honored Thanksgiving Day meal, let us rejoice in the abundance that graces our tables---YEAH, THOSE WEALTHY, FAT-CAT MILLIONAIRES NEED TO COUGH UP MORE TAX PAYEMENTS TO THE IRS TO SUPPORT THE BROTHER AND SISTERS THAT ARE STRUGGLING ON REPARATIONS [OPPS I MEANT WELFARE] OF FREE HOUSING, FOOD, TRANSPORTATION, EDUCATION,ETC!!!!!

in the simple gifts that mark our days---ESPECIALLY FROM THOSE GENEROUS MIDDLE EASTERN FAT-CAT OL WEALTHY SHIEKS THAT PROMOTED AND FINANCED MY EXPENSIVE PRIVATE EDUCATION AT PRINSTON AND HARVARD!!!!!

"...rejoice in the abundance that graces our tables..."

Not with Mrs. O. and her food police in town, we can't!

Ken (Old Texican)| 11.26.10 @ 8:13AM

The teleprompter broke.
He was supposed to add..."and let us pray for our citizens in uniform across the world who are securing our ability to enjoy our meal, while many of them are enjoying an MRE."

Rich Fisher| 11.26.10 @ 8:22AM

Amen, Ken. Although me thinks 'tis more like the Fonz saying he was wrong on Happy Days. Just not in the genes. Wonder who wrote that for Obama? They forgot to include the part about where it's the government's job to ensure the abundance on your table since you are too stupid and ignorant to do it yourself. Of course, since there aren't any jobs to be had due to Obamanomics I guess maybe it is the government's responsibility. Nah, I'll just go out and hunt me a turkey, grow me some sweet potatos and cook it myself. Well, dang, now, where did my gun go?

Oldefarte| 11.28.10 @ 2:18PM

My amen also, and let me add MY GRATEFUL THANK YOU TO OUR SERVICE MEMBERS SERVING ACROSS THE GLOVE FOR PROTECT ME AND MINE, ALONG WITH MY HOPE AND PRAYER THAT THEY ALL RETURN HOME SAFE AND SOUND!!!!!!!!!!!

Eric Cartman| 11.26.10 @ 12:34PM

Well, they officially have ruined Thanksgiving. It used to be you ate, met with family, watched Detroit lose. Then it was off to bed for a nice night's sleep, snuggled warm under the blankets with the nip of winter air keeping your nose cold. Up in the morning for a nice breakfast and off to shop with the wife. WELL NO MORE!

NOW you stuff yourself with turkey. Watch the Lions lose (some things are timeless). Fret about getting a few minutes sleep and off to Wal Mart at 1:00 AM to get the useless junk picked through by all the other miserable people who smell faintly of turkey. Finally checking out at 7:00 AM it's back home to sleep for a few before you have to get up to drive to the next door buster sale. Absolutely miserable. Well, Happy Thanksgiving. I have to catch some winks before midnight or I'll be too tired to stand in line for 5 hours again.

Rich Fisher| 11.26.10 @ 12:59PM

Eric, at the risk of being a sexist, this is what I have my wife for. Okay, I'll admit there are a few other perks but this one tops them all. She loves this 4 am crap so I just roll over when she leaves, get up at a decent hour, fix a turkey sandwich, cadge another piece of Pecan Pie and relive the moment right up to the end of the 3rd quarter when I thought the Lions would maybe squeak it out. But, alas, the Patriots finally pulled their cheerleaders off the filed and put the team in. It wasn't a total lost day, though, at least Dallas lost, AGAIN.

Eric Cartman| 11.26.10 @ 5:45PM

Oh, man! You're asking for it now, Rich. Gloria Allred has your number and she's on her way over. Savor your last turkey leg., me friend.

I tried that with my wife a few years back. Let's just say I never went down that road again. ;-)

I truly believe, however, that all this BS will stop the day the Lions win. That day the universe will tilt just so. All will return as normal and Black Friday will begin once again at 9:00 AM. Birds will sing and the postman will doff his hat and whistle a happy tune as he hand delivers your mail, tousle the hair on your little boy's head, sharply turn around with a snap, and with a dance in his step, continue his rounds. All will be as it was. Of course, this all depends on the Lions winning on Thanksgiving . . . . . Jeez . . . . We're screwed.

Oldefarte| 11.28.10 @ 2:23PM

Waint a minute...who in the hades has the courage to go spend money on Black Friday. With the president/Democrats trying to tax us MIDDLE CLASS, WEALTHY, FAT-CAT MILLIONAIRES to death in order to finance his welfare [governmental] schemes, how does anyone have the courage to spend their money, if in fact they have any???????

Rich Fisher| 11.26.10 @ 2:34PM

Could we not have these bozos hawking stuff on this blog. This is for serious political discussion not selling crap that nobody is interested in anyway. Go to MoveOn.org or the Huffington Puffinton Post. They are all phonies there and need to dress themselves up so the will look like a silk purse rather than the sows ear they are.

Margie| 11.26.10 @ 5:21PM

"Let us recall that our forebears met their challenges with hope and an unfailing spirit,
(we do)
.."and let us resolve to do the same." says Obama.
We DO and we ARE ~in spite of him.

Oldefarte| 11.28.10 @ 2:25PM

Margie, Our fore-fathers had intelligence....these MORONS now in charge don't have YOUKNOWWHAT for brains!!!!!!!!!!

Margie| 11.28.10 @ 7:46PM

Oldefarte,

Recently drove through Youngstown Ohio... seen what it's like in some areas in Western PA.. people leaving in droves, house boarded up, crime rampant. It's like NYC during the Dinkins admin & before Guiliani. And what do these Leftists do? Throw some stimulus funds funds at them (in the case of Youngstown I know).. and what happens after that? How do we save these areas? I do fear for my country!
May God have mercy on us all.
Pray.

Ken (Old Texican)| 11.26.10 @ 7:06PM

Margie,
welcome back.
You know, our forebears...at least mine...met their challenges with blood and sweat.
Hunker down and load, Americans, we got a war on our hands.

Margie| 11.28.10 @ 7:52PM

Ken,
Thanks.. well my old ancestors came from the French fur trappers on into Canada and then the U.S.A. Heh, I've got some Indian in me too.. stubborn and will never give up. Ever hear the expression.. I know you have, "Annie get your guns!"
I'm with Sarah when she says, "Don't retreat, reload!"
So to speak, of course, as in pardon the shorthand.. in case of the PC Police.
