Pelosi Reelected Dem Leader

Outgoing House Speaker has been elected by her colleagues to be the next minority leader, fending off a challenge from Rep. Heath Shuler.

The vote was 150-43.

This result isn't surprising, and reinforces that in the wake of the shelacking in the midterm elections, liberals are actually in a stronger position within the caucus than they were when Democrats were in the majority. The news also serves as a gift to Republicans, given that Pelosi remains one of the most unpopular figures in American politics.

Ya know, you see a person do a really dumbass thing (like light their crotch on fire and put it out with an iron pan) and ya say "Wow! You're a real dumbass! Why would you do that?" And they usually say, "Well, we're taping it and sending it in to 'Jackass' in hopes of getting on the air." And you can sort of understand it. As a Catholic from another sphere, I am very puzzled by the kind of worhip rendered by Ms Pelosi to the "living buddha" called the Dalai Lama, and having the US Congress promote such "living" idol worship to the Western world. Tibet is better off without such living idols. Please stop promoting this idol and let the world, including the Tibetans, forget him. Do you guys know how much is Congress and CIA paying this idol every year?

Can you imagine the news coverage if the shoe were on the other foot? If the Republicans had reelected their leader who'd gotten them blown out of the recent election. There would be comments of "Caving to the Right Wing", or "Allowing blind ideology to guide their politics", but with the Dems, it's "No comment", business as usual.
