This week brings us to the one-year mark since the global
warming industry experienced ClimateGate. That release of
emails and computer code and annotations was less a wooden stake
through the heart of 'climate science' (there is apparently no
'blue dress moment', as I wrote at the time that would cause
the US media to stop covering for the movement), but more like
stepping on a rusty old nail whose impact will prove fatal in the
end.
Ever adaptable, they are opting to proceed through the social
sciences, analyizing and hopefully marginalizing us skeptics they
just can't get away with, er, 'denying' anymore. This is probably
the latest cover for their ritual ad hominem, which is all
you've got when you can't make a persuasive substantive case.
We'll see, as a proliferation of hints about other such overtures
indicates a considered strategic move. But I write about their
opening salvo, as reported in yesterday's NYT and focusing
on yours truly, in
the Daily Caller, here.
You know they're desperate when they enlist Christopher
Hitchens!
In an op-ed entitled "The Skeptic's Skeptic, unavailable online,
Mickey Schermer praises Hitchens:
"The dialectical usefulness of clear logic, coupled to clear prose
(layered on top of the usual dollop of data), cannot be overstated
and should be considered by scientists as another instrument of
persuasion in the battle for ideas."

the GOP has its Deep South Firewall. The Dems have New York and
California. Obama won Virginia and Ohio in 2008. McCain lost
Indiana. The GOP candidate to win must win Virginia, Ohio, and most
probably Pennsylvania without losing states like West Virginia or
Florida. It would help to pick up either a Colorado, Wisconsin, or
Michigan. Can any of these canidates pull that off? wholesale
