Politico reports:

EPA policy chief steps down

One of the Obama administration’s most aggressive officials on global warming regulations is stepping down from her post at the Environmental Protection Agency.

Lisa Heinzerling, the head of EPA’s policy office, will return to her position as a Georgetown University law professor at the end of the year, said EPA spokesman Brendan Gilfillan.

Within EPA, Heinzerling is one of the more dogmatic proponents of regulating greenhouse gases to the maximum extent possible under the Clean Air Act.

There are two camps within the agency on climate, said an environmental advocate who spoke on background. The Heinzerling camp, with the mind-set that, “we have the law on our side; let’s go get them.” In the other camp are Administrator Lisa Jackson and EPA air chief Gina McCarthy, who are trying to maintain the support of the White House and Congress…

“I think she’s probably the farthest left and most committed of anyone on the team, with the exception of Carol Browner,” on climate change, said an industry attorney familiar with the agency, referring to the former agency administrator and President Barack Obama’s energy and climate adviser.

Certain private interests have pursued inquiry of Ms. Heinzerling’s activities while in this perch for some time. I’m just guessing, but this longtime partisan and activist may have heard footsteps and got out while the getting was less bad.

Buh-bye.

Here is one agency to defund. It costs more in regulation than any good it does. Add also get rid of the Czars. Lots of opportunity to stop the spending. Every little bit is a step in the right direction.

I am an economist and I have worked for government on environmental policy for 20 years now, and no government should spend so much as a brass razoo on anything that has 'climate' or 'global warming' in the title. It is a complete scandal how much has been wasted on this. Government is wasteful, incompetent and inefficient at the best of times, there are programs and offices aplenty that do not deserve funding, and the climate change bureaucracy should be right at the top of the target list. I will never have any faith in government until I see this happen.

I really agree with you. Never has there been so many commies in an administration. They must go.

I agree as well, but we must not let these cockroaches scurry back under their rocks. We must renew our efforts and encourage the use of DDT (Oversight Hearings, etc) on these vermin.

Over it's life, the EPA has probably done more harm than good and this is the reason. Only one head of EPA has been at all technical, the rest are lawyers. If the administration were reduced to nothing by technical people and their support staff, the EPA could do some more good.

The EPA should have no regulatory authority whatsoever.

Al Adab| 11.4.10 @ 6:09PM

Good point. Frankly all the agencies represent the abrogation of Legislative authority to the executive branch. They constantly promugate regulations having the authority of law without being representative of the people. If that sounds familiar it was one of the colonial objections to parliment taxing and binding the colonies without their being represented. The agencies are Constitutionally suspect at best.

Now maybe we can get some nuclear reactors built. The Chinese are building 24. They're not going green with solar panels and windmills.
The 55 Harvard L school alums and the 8 faculty members "serving" in this administration should resign, too.
Any Federal employee who hasn't paid their taxes should consider other employment.

Hey, broad, hold the door for Browner, won't you?

Just the tip'o the iceberg!
It's ironic that the EPA drives American businesses out and 3rd world industries take up the slack--where they have no EPA.
*But they have good intentions!*
These people such as Heinzerling need to get out of government! For example--they banned DDT due to some dubious 'facts'--so since then the world gets an additional 40,000 a year children coming down with malaria. Same old-same old *good intentions*. Road to Hell is paved with'em.

Post very nicely written, and it contains useful facts. I am happy to find your distinguished way of writing the post. Now you make it easy for me to understand and implement. Thanks for sharing with us.Chanel handbags
