Re: Senate Frustrations

Quin, I think part of the solution to Dems who “are better at ‘finding’ votes than the Repubs are” is to get rid of early voting. It is public sector employees — that is, unions — who are the keepers of ballots for long periods of time, which presents more opportunities to “find” votes. Or lose others.’ Early voting was a Democrat initiative, and it has worked like a charm for them.

Paul is absolutely right. I agree 100%.

Hear, hear! Early voting is tailor-made for cheaters.

I think early voting is okay in one narrow instance: absentee ballots. For absentees, early voting should be mandatory, so that the absentee ballots will arrive in time to be counted simultaneously with all other ballots.

The way things are now, close elections are put on hold while everyone waits for the absentee ballots to arrive. That's ridiculous, and opens up lots of opportunities for shenanigans.

Additionally, no voting should be allowed that does not use a paper ballot. Without a paper trail, there's unlimited potential for electronic cheating.

Absentee ballots are a gold mine four found votes. They should be made available only to military personnel. All others who can't make it their business to be available on election day, too bad. They don't keep the polls open the next day to accommodate those who get sick on election day so why should they entertain vacationers or business travelers?

States are running low of cash. Maybe next year they can start charging a healthy fee (say $500) to process non-military absentee ballots. That, along with a notarized statement to be filed with the district court explaining your absentee and proof that you are a resident.

Make it easy to vote on election day is one thing. Bending over backwards to accommodate fraud is another. Get rid of them, I say...
