In a sign of confidence about today’s results, Rand Paul is
already
talking about becoming a thorn in the Republican leadership’s
side:
Rand Paul, the Republican Senate nominee in Kentucky, says that
if he’s elected he would not be an automatic vote for the state’s
senior senator, Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, who did not back
him in the primary but supports him now.
“We will challenge him from day to day, but there will be many
areas in which we agree,” Paul said during an appearance Tuesday on
CNN’s “American Morning.”
“Most Republicans think we’re spending too much, the deficit’s
too high. But sometimes when we’ve gotten in power we’ve gone along
and not really stayed the course,” he added. “I will be one who
will say to Republicans in my party, ‘We do need to stay the course
and go ahead and balance our budget.’ “
Contextually, it’s not clear whether that means he’d back a
challenger to McConnell for the top leadership position. It has
been speculated that Jim DeMint could be one possibility.

Rand Paul is already way too full of himself, puffed up like a blowfish, and he's flaky to boot, like his old man. Give him a horn and he could pass for Harpo Marx. He's going to make the GOP look even more crackpot than it already does.

Is calling for reduced spending, cut budgets, and less taxes "crackpot?"
I can ALMOST understand that position because of his stance on national security, but he'll be more reliable than most on domestic policy issues.

Rand Paul nor anybody else can balance the budget until unemployment decreases to 7% or less. Because unemployed people don't pay taxes and consume government benefits.

Rand Paul is hurting the Republican Party. He is not conservative. He is just like his father Rep. Ron Paul of Texas. Rand Paul does not support the American Disabilities Act.
Ryan| 11.2.10 @ 3:06PM
What does being conservative have to do with the ADA?
And, btw, the term for them is more or less "Paleoconservative." No one really has a monopoly on how the term should "properly" be used.

We Tea Party Rebels Support Dr.Rand Paul
Dr. Rand Paul: " I think a lot of things could be handled locally. For example, I think that we should try to do everything we can to allow for people with disabilities and handicaps. You know, we do it in our office with wheelchair ramps and things like that. I think if you have a two-story office and you hire someone who's handicapped, it might be reasonable to let him have an office on the first floor rather than the government saying you have to have a $100,000 elevator. And I think when you get to solutions like that, the more local the better, and the more common sense the decisions are, rather than having a federal government make those decisions."

The REPUBLICANS did not give us a conservative choice OTHER than Rand....or we would have voted for that person. En Masse. Maybe NOW the GOP will HEED the conservative call for conservative candidates. WE the people have spoken: given a choice for a flaky or slightly damaged CONSERVATIVE, or a slick, professional RINO, we're going with the conservative. And the RINO can go to hell.....
