In a disappointing, undignified statement as he heads out of office, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn’t resist making a “nah-nah” political point while congratulating the San Francisco Giants on their World Series championship:

The San Francisco Giants defeated the Texas Rangers tonight, just like California voters are going to defeat the attempts of dirty Texas oil companies to undo our clean energy laws at the polls tomorrow.

Throughout the season and post-season, the Giants have shown remarkable determination and excellence. They have made this state proud and shown the world what we are capable of. I join all Californians in congratulating the entire Giants organization, coaching staff, players and fans on this much-deserved win.

Of course the Governator is talking about the Proposition 23 ballot initiative, which would delay implementation of the state’s global warming law (that forces reduction of greenhouse gas emissions) until the unemployment rate stays below 5.5 percent for four consecutive quarters. Environmental groups and alternative energy companies have spent twice as much fighting 23 as the oil companies have in supporting it, but that obviously doesn’t matter to Ah-nold.

Maybe Texas Gov. Rick Perry will return the insult tonight after he gets re-elected (and if Prop. 23 does get rejected) and he’ll thank the San Francisco potheads, Pelosi, and Schwarzenegger for helping make the Lone Star State look even more attractive for job growth. But probably not; I expect some class from Texans.

A neat sidebar to this is that by the Rangers losing the series in five, three games were in Texas and only two in Collie-fornia, so more jobs and economic activity were created in the Lone Star State. Texas wins!
Ahhhh-nold needs to change his party registration to Democrat because that's what he is.

Hey Arnold, your fellow citizens are voting with their feet. Where? To Texas!

Sheila| 11.2.10 @ 6:21PM

Unfortunately, ncatty, you're right. Every former Californian who's moved here is still a flaming liberal fool, determined to bring their enlightened consciousness and style of government here to the Lone Star State. Please, Californians, go move to Seattle instead - you've already ruined that!

Not true, Sheila. Many Conservative small business owners from California have moved to Texas and are helping your state grow and prosper.

These folks are smart and industrious and are assets to your fine state.

Frank| 11.10.10 @ 2:16PM

Connor, I sure hope you're correct. I love small businesses and any conservative ones are welcome.

Boeing announced yesterday that they are moving 1,000 engineering jobs from California to Oklahoma, to reduce costs and for a friendlier business environment. Carry on, California... PLEASE!

Everyone should take a lesson from the former Rangers owner, Bush, whose billion dollar Hydrogen Initiative is now paying off in real fuel cell technology and filling stations.

C Bowen| 11.2.10 @ 8:16PM

Are you joking, Mr. Bailo? The poor taxpayer is paying for that nonsense.
