I wanted to title this “Stupid is as Sanity Does”, “I’d Hate to See Crazy” or something reminiscent of the Left/media sneering at Tea Party and/or Beck rallies. But I’ll leave it at kudos to ReasonTV. Some of the people have spoken. And it’s worth a watch-and-listen.

"..it's worth a watch-and-listen." But six minutes of it is way too much.

We're buying shrimp, dudes. These are my people. None of those phony tea party types. You know the ones who go to work and play by the rules. No my people aren't constrained by rules or normal dress. They sponge of their parents and society getting educations that are totally worthless. It makes me proud. This is what I am talking about, a whole society of potential government bureaucrats. We'll be closing Gitmo any day now. After that we'll get out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Then we will stop listening to your phone calls. You can trust me. Don't ask, don't tell forever, baby. After Tuesday it is back to golf.

So what are you saying? That the Reason crew did a good or bad job of capturing the essence of the attendees? They said nothing about the actual rally itself. I'm sure you're aware of videos of Tea Party rallies where the interviewers only post footage of people who are seemingly ignorant or brilliant depending on the news crews perspective. Reason says it "provides a refreshing alternative to right-wing and left-wing opinion magazines by making a principled case for liberty and individual choice in all areas of human activity." I didn't see where that was evident in their footage. In fact, it seemed disjointed.
I thought, however simplistic, Jon Stewart's message was positive. Similar to Glenn Beck's. And Stewart's comments about the media are right on target. Keep in mind, the news organizations are businesses. Businesses like to make money. They cater to their audience; conservative and liberal alike. The only way I've been able to fully understand is to listen and read all viewpoints, not just the ones with which I already.

Did you listen/read Jon Stewart's closing message? He started out saying that the rally was not to put anyone down. He never "smeered" anyone. In fact, he made some positive comments about Tea Partiers. Why can't you just accept his message (as simple as it was) for what it was. He's not a politician running for office, he had no solutions to our problems, just an idea of how we should act towards one another. What's wrong with playing nice?

Jon Stewart is a very witty guy, more Left than Right, but with enough Devil's Advocate in his journalist soul not to be snookered by anyone. While I prefer him to be on the Right, surely it's a stretch to say he "sneered" at Tea Partiers.
