Former Headline News anchor and CNN correspondent Lynne Russell and her husband Chuck de Caro survived a robbery in their room at a Motel 6 in Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 30 when de Caro shot and killed the assailant after the assailant began shooting at the couple. The yet to be identified robber burst into their room after Russell retrieved something from her car.
Presently, de Caro is in the hospital after being wounded by the assailant, but is expected to survive his injuries. Russell and de Caro, who also worked for CNN and was a special forces officer, were driving on a cross country trip at the time of incident. Both Russell and de Caro have concealed carry permits and it saved their lives.
