Stephanopoulos Won’t Moderate ABC News Presidential Debate

By on 5.14.15 | 4:59PM

Sen. Rand Paul and Sen. Mike Lee appear to be the first Republicans to officially object to George Stephanopolous's lack of neutrality, with Paul issuing a statement this afternoon calling Stephanopolous's allegiances into question and Mike Lee's communications director taking to Twitter vowing not to let his boss take to the airwaves until the matter is resolved.

The RNC hasn't followed suit, which is odd considering that they'd lined up at least one debate with ABC news, but it seems they might not need to. Stephanopolous himself has at least acknowledged that moderating between nominees of one party while giving to the opposition has decided to bow out of that job

Lindsay Lohan Studying Up on Islam

By on 5.14.15 | 1:18PM

Honestly, I can't tell whether this is real - as in "too good to check whether it's actually happening" - or this is some sort of terrifying ruse cooked up by our government to threaten the radical Islamic forces that have started to, allegedly, mass within our borders, but Lindsay Lohan is reportedly converting to Islam.

Troubled Hollywood model, singer and actress Lindsay Lohan was spotted carrying the Holy Quran as she stepped out of a children’s center in Brooklyn, NY.

LindsAy was photographed holding the Quran after completing her first day of community service at the children’s center.

The American actress of Irish and Italian descent was raised as a Catholic. According to reports, the 28-year-old has embarked on an “emotional detox” by giving up alcohol and dating.

Earlier this year, she uploaded an Instagram image of a quote from the Quran but soon after deleted it.

Jorge Posada’s Apology to A-Rod Wasn’t Necessary

By on 5.14.15 | 1:02PM

Former New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada has an issued an apology following comments he made in an interview on CBS This Morning yesterday in which he said his former teammate Alex Rodriguez should be denied entry into the Baseball Hall of Fame due to his history with PEDs. Posada claims he was "cornered" into making that statement. Posada is promoting his memoir, The Journey Home: My Life in Pinstripes.

Posada took a lot of heat for these comments. It's interesting to see the media come to A-Rod's defense. Could this have to do with the fact that he's playing well and the Yankees are back in first place? It's amazing how nice people are when they see you as a winner again.

Could the Next First Lady Be Chelsea Clinton?

By on 5.14.15 | 12:32PM

The Clinton campaign is doing its level best to scuttle any mention of Bill Clinton, and to keep his as far away from the campaign trail as possible.

But while Bill might be taking a backseat (do I take the ridiculous joke that's just hanging out there about "paradise by the dashboard light?") to his wife and to her advisors, it seems the campaign is looking to another member of the family to take up the reins of the stereotypical "campaign spouse." According to professional Clinton-watchers, Chelsea Clinton, not Bill Clinton is actually the frontrunner among Clintonites to be the First Lady.

If the Clintons were to move back into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the first daughter, Chelsea, would presumably take on the traditional responsibilities of the first lady, an expert on the White House tells Daily Mail Online.

Bolton Won’t Pursue GOP White House Bid; Would Make a Fine Secretary of State

By on 5.14.15 | 12:25PM

Former UN Ambassador John Bolton announced today that he will not be making a GOP bid for the White House.

This isn't particularly surprising. Bolton had contemplated a White House bid in 2012, but ultimately did not run.

Of course, one needn't be President of the United States to make an impact.

Save for Rand Paul, Bolton would be the top candidate for Secretary of State should a Republican win in 2016.

Lord knows he would be a definite improvement over John Kerry, never mind Hillary Clinton.

Stephanopoulos Steps Into It; Donates $50,000, Er, Make That $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation UPDATED

By on 5.14.15 | 12:15PM

George Stephanopoulos has egg on his face after being forced to apologize for not disclosing $50,000 worth of contributions to the Clinton Foundation in 2013 & 2014 while interviewing, or more accurately interrogating, Peter Schweizer last month about his book Clinton Cash which documents funds donated by businesses and foreign governments to the Clinton Foundation.

Stephanopoulos has been with ABC News since 2002, but came to fame a decade earlier as Bill Clinton's communications director for his 1992 presidential campaign and would be a part of the Clinton White House during its first term in office.

Naturally, ABC News stands by Stephanopoulos saying he made an "honest mistake". When it comes to donating $50,000 to your old boss there are no honest mistakes.

Stephanopoulos Gets Clinton-y, Takes Donation Story to Friendly Outlet, Not Free Beacon

By on 5.14.15 | 12:14PM

Let's just call this one a "#ThrowbackThursday."

George Stephanopoulos, a Clinton crony from as far back as anyone involved with the Clintons can remember, gave two $25,000 donations to the Clinton Foundation while employed by ABC News, but failed to disclose any involvement with the organization, despite his position as an independent, fair-minded, leading journalist at a major news organization.

ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos donated $50,000 to the Clinton Foundation in recent years, records show.

Stephanopoulos, a former aide to President Bill Clinton, confirmed the donation to POLITICO’s Dylan Byers after the Free Beacon contacted ABC News for comment. The host acknowledge making two donations of $25,000 between 2013 and 2014. Stephanopoulos issued a statement apologizing for failing to disclose the donation.

Rockies Manager Walt Weiss Undergoes Appendectomy

By on 5.14.15 | 10:25AM

Yesterday, I wrote about the Colorado Rockies' 10-game losing streak.

Things went from bad to worse for the Rockies when manager Walt Weiss had to be hospitalized prior to last night's game against the Los Angeles Angels for severe abdominal pains which he had been experiencing for several days. Weiss had to undergo an emergency appendectomy. No doubt the Rockies' struggles contributed to this malady. Weiss is expected to be released from the hospital later today.

Bench coach Tom Runnells filled in for Weiss last night. Unfortunately for the Rockies, they lost 2-1 in 11 innings to extend their losing streak to 11 games. This is their longest losing streak since 2000. The Rockies begin a four game series tonight against the Dodgers before returning home to host the Philadelphia Phillies in a battle of last place teams.

No timetable has been released as to when Weiss will return to the dugout.

Obama is Condescending, Not Sexist

By on 5.14.15 | 10:13AM

I suppose I shouldn't interrupt the civil war which has erupted in the Democratic Party between President Obama and Senate Democrats over TPP. Much of Obama's energies have been directed at Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren. But then Warren's colleague Sherrod Brown of Ohio entered the fray and accused Obama of sexism against Warren because the President addressed Warren by her first name.

Josh Earnest, bearing more resemblance to a caporegime for the Corleone family than the White House Press Secretary, declared, "He'll find a way to apologize."

The New Republic Goes Off Rails Over Amtrak Accident…And So Does Josh Earnest - UPDATE

By on 5.13.15 | 5:09PM

Undoubtedly the top story today is last night's Amtrak derailment in Philadelphia which claimed the lives of seven people and hospitalized over 200 people.

The train was going over 100 MPH. Whether this was the result of human or mechanical error has yet to be determined and will be up to the NTSB to conclude.

But this hasn't stopped the Left from putting this tragedy on a political track. Over at NRO, Jonah Goldberg took the gang at MSNBC's Morning Joe to task for buying into former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell's argument that the accident was a consequence of a lack of government spending on infrastructure. Goldberg writes, "Disgusting. They just learned there was a sixth fatality from the crash and they used that to promote hackish arguments about the need for high-speed rail (Rendell went on about how in Europe the rails are straight for high speed not like our shabby curved rails here)."
