Jimmy Carter traveled to Syria to meet with Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal, declared that Palestinians are “living in a cage,” and insisted that the terrorist group dedicated to destroying Israel should be included in peace talks.

Here’s a sickening photo of the former U.S. President embracing a mass murderer of innocent civilians:

More photos of the meeting here.

Ahhhhh, the love of Liberals. Ain't it grand! The are so embracing of everyo0ne - except Jews, Catholics, conservative blacks, Mormons, and . . . HEY! Wait a minute! Sounds like the KKK! And wasn't a famous Liberal a Grand Cyclops of the KKK? Uh oh! Your slips are showing.

Simeon Cana| 10.21.10 @ 10:43AM

Ok, seriously?

yes, Carter embracing Hamas leadership isn revolting. Fine.

But honestly, step back for a second. This is exactly the kind of snap-shot context slander we loathe when the Democrats do it. A high political figure meeting other high political figures and greeting in a traditional manner.

Is this so much more repulsive that Nixon shaking hands with Breznev, or Bush Jr walking hand-in-hand with the Saudi King?

Snapshot contextattacks are nausiating. Its nausiating when the dems do it, and its nausiating when AmSpecBlog does it.

David W| 10.21.10 @ 10:48AM

There is being nice and then there is being "nice and happy that you are meeting the person". There appears to be true pleasure in Jimmy's eyes. Would you have wanted Nixon to kick Breznev in the crotch?

Tenn Slim| 10.21.10 @ 10:47AM

Except Carter is smiling

Simeon Cana| 10.21.10 @ 10:56AM

Seriously?

I defy you to find anything other then enthusiasm on the face of Reagan shaking Breznev's hands, or Bush Jr strolling across the white house lawn holding hands with the saudi King for over 10 minutes. This is what leaders do, and how they interact. To infer something about Carter, or worse, the democrats as a whole, beased ona snapshot of a leader doing what any other leader would also do is just flagrantly dishonest.

And seriously, its CARTER. If you want to insult the man, there is plenty of ammunition out there which you can use which is valid and accurate, without having to resort to these shabby tactics.

Todd S| 10.21.10 @ 11:20AM

Jimmy Carter is not only the worst president of the past century (not including Obozo of course), he is the worst ex-president and disgraces himself more with each day. It is well known that he hates Israel and openly sides with terrorist like the late scumbag Yasser Arafat and now is siding with the evil terrorist group Hamas. Your attempt at moral equivalence with Reagan and Bush is a joke. What exactly is Carter a leader of you damn fool? Can't wait for the old bastard to die and go to hell where he will find his old friend Yasser Arafat waiting for him.

Simeon Cana| 10.21.10 @ 11:26AM

Not the worst of the century, but certainly in the bottom 5.

The rest of your ill-considered rant is irrelevant and incorrect. Carter does not 'hate Israel', though he has certainly shown sympathy for the plight of the palestinians. The evil terrorist group Hamas (about which I do not disagree) is also the democratically elected leder of the palestinian territories. Carter is a former US president, and regardless of your personal opinion of him, he is certainly a political leader.

And grow up. I was making no moral equiovalency at all between carter and Reagan, thats a juvinile tactic and you know it. I was pointing out that this particular kind of context-void snapshot attack is a nausiating and pointlerss form of jellow propaganda, and one at which the dems excell: too bad se seem to be trying to lower ourselves to their level.

J.P. Travis | 10.21.10 @ 11:48AM

The problem isn't that you insinuate moral equivalency between Carter and Reagan, but that you insinuate moral equivalency between Hamas and U.S.S.R. leaders. While both are illegitimate totalitarian regimes who use fraudulent elections to pretend legitimacy, only Hamas vocally vows extermination of our strongest ally in the Middle East and regularly targets innocent civilians with terrorist mayhem. No American leader with an ounce of morality would embrace a Hamas leader. I wonder if Reagan would even shake their hands... but in point of fact I cannot imagaine a scenario where Reagan would ever appear in the same personal airspace as one of these Hamas animals.

Simeon Cana| 10.21.10 @ 1:29PM

Actrually, the USSR funded insurgent and terrorist groups around the world that brought in body counts that made hamas look like cicus clowns. besides, the single largest funder of hamas, and every other terrorist group in the Middle east, including Al qaeda, is saudi Arabia, whose King Bush Jr. walked hand in hand with through the rose garden for 10 minutes.

The point is, a snapshot like this, and implying it is something in and of itself horrible, is the same yellow journalism we always accuse the dems of conducting.

I'm not defending cartr, in fact if you care to read back I cnt stand the guy. But the tactics of this blog post should be beneath us.

ncatty| 10.21.10 @ 12:35PM

You are correct Simeon, and it could have been worse. Carter could have bowed to Khaled Maashal.

Occam's Tool| 10.21.10 @ 12:51PM

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the case of the Nazi War Criminal that Carter inteceded on behalf of for clemency. Sorry, Jimmy hates Israel and is an antisemite, like Joe Sobran was. And for exactly the same reasons.

Margie| 10.21.10 @ 12:53PM

Jellow propaganda? Hillary, is that you?

Mightycline| 10.21.10 @ 1:12PM

Dear CANA: ......you are so wrong and now you declare such a place as the "palestinian territories" with such grace as to be a fool for hamas. You are the one that needs to grow up, sir or madam or both. You are below the level of the snake's belly and you certainly never served this country thru the military and you most likely are still under the tutilage of some liberal university prof's and get a check each week from home? Semper Fi all.

Simeon Cana| 10.21.10 @ 1:31PM

Palestinian territories was a description, and a pretty accurate one. Why, how would you laim that is a fasle description? Well?

As for the rest of your pointless, illiterate crap (Cartman posting again?) you have no idea what you are talking about. Stop embarassing yourself. If you cant post on topic, then dont post at all.

Eric Cartman| 10.21.10 @ 1:52PM

Notice how the socialist whiner equivocates every position it - I'm assuming gender reassignment here - takes Bush holding hands with a Saudi King is the same as Hamas, who has UNequivocally called for the destruction if Israel as the same thing. Putz.

Simeon Cana| 10.21.10 @ 2:00PM

Notice how cartman, or whichever name he is posting as, just cannot RESIST the opportunity to post something self-destructive and stupid, demonstrating the limits of his intelligence and education.

Hey Kid, pop quiz. Who provides the majority of funding to hamas? Who provides the majority of funding for almost every single anti-Israeli terrorist group in the Middle East? Guess what Kid, Saudi does not recognise the existence of Israel either, and their fanatically anti-semitic state news constantly runs crap like the protocols of the elders of zion.

But, of course, you dodnt know any of that, did you? So I bet you feel really stupid. Again.

Eric Cartman| 10.21.10 @ 2:18PM

Firstly (that's how he/she/it always starts his rants LOL) Firstly . . . . guess what, socialist, no Arab country recognizes Israel - so what? Bush holding hand with the King is not equivalent to Carter's constant berating of Israel and hugging up to Hamas. Carter - a lousy former president - has undermined our interests in the area for years. He's a bitter old Liberal - just like you.

Eric Cartman| 10.21.10 @ 2:27PM

Firstly . . . Hey everybody, lets play "Talk Like Simeon." Firstly, get into your best Thurston Howell III voice.

Secondly, equivocate on everything by saying things like "On the one hand, you're right, Lovey, Hamas is a terrible organization, but Bush held the hand of the Saudi King, on the other hand. Ha ha, ha ha. So really, ha ha, ha ha, Carter's big smiley hug of Hamas is just like that, ha ha, ha ha. Oh, it's so gauche to point out all of Carter's other slights of Israel, ha ha, ha ha. Lovey, bring me another Old Fashion, would you?"

As a bonus, I'm living inside his head rent free! Ha ha, ha ha.

Simeon Cana| 10.21.10 @ 2:44PM

Nice backpedal. Once again, you were totally humiliated by your staggering lack of basic knowledge, and once again, as son as your stupidity was exposed, you squirm away, swearing and insulting to cover your painful shame, hoping nobody notices once again what a complete ass you just made of yourself.

You are right, the saudi king is not the equivalent of the Leader of hamas: the saudi king is much worse.

Eric Cartman| 10.21.10 @ 2:58PM

Swearing? Squirming? Backpedal? Man! I AM living in you head! Your puffery and pompousness is just too rich a target. You're a typical Ahole Liberal. I mean, admit it - everyone knows it already. You keep saying you're not, but every pompous sentence you write screams you are. It's fun egging people like you on. I can see its ruining your day. You'll be mumbling to yourself all night - maybe tossing and turning, punching your pillow LOL. Now, I have to go meet with a client and grab a Venti coffee. Just keep this in mind: Your wet dream Obama administration is about to go down. All your little plans stop after November. Oh, and Bush won Florida.

Simeon Cana| 10.22.10 @ 2:44AM

You really are not even trying to make sense are you little boy? Your appeals to silence are as laughable as they are pointless. I am, as you well know, a conservative republican, who has devoted more time (and money) to the GOP tyhan you have devoted to anything in your brief adolescent life. You know that, of course, but screaming ;socialist! and 'Obamalover' at me is easier than admitting that every single time you have ever tried to post anything even emotely of substance, you were flat out factually wrong and fled like the whining coward that you are.

Dont blame others for yiour own many deficiencies my simpering little friend. Like all other teenage trolls on the web, you post screaming insults and make stuff up, and throw tantrums when your lies are exposed (as they always are) acting in a manner so horrendous that you would only dare do so safely tucked away behind the anonymity of your parent's computer. You are nothing little boy, and deep down, I suspect you already know that.

Aladdin| 10.22.10 @ 3:42AM

Buzz off, fascist liberal troll. Carter and Obama are both Islam ass-kissers.

Go find a goat to play with.

Todd S| 10.21.10 @ 1:52PM

Wrong, anyone that would show respect for Hamas like Carter has would only do so because he hates Israel because Hamas has only one goal, which is the destruction of Israel. His actions of the past couple decades are consistently anti-Israel whatever bs you give about him having "sympathy" for the plight of the Palestinians. Your comparison of Reagan meeting with the Soviet leaders as president (and defeating them in the end btw) to Carter having a very friendly meeting with Hamas as ex-president (and leader of nothing) is ridiculous as you know it. As bad as Obama is, he would never meet with Hamas like this as president because it would be political suicide though I would not be surprised in the least if he does this kind of thing as an ex-president. Obama is the half-black version of Carter, a pompous arrogant ahole who thinks he knows better than anyone else and give more respect to 3rd world thugs than to the American people.

Tell me what exactly is the context of this meeting and why showing a photo of Cater smiling and hugging murderers is yellow (not jellow lol) propaganda? You might want to check your spelling before you send because it is horrible.

Occam's Tool| 10.21.10 @ 12:49PM

Yes, but his writing, his life, his antisemitism, his viciousness, his small-mindedness, his despicableness, his incompetence---all are in keeping with the hug.

Stephanie| 10.21.10 @ 12:34PM

Those photos were hard to stomach.

MikeN| 10.21.10 @ 12:44PM

Based on this picture, I'm guessing his relative lost his election?

Eric Catman| 10.21.10 @ 2:39PM

Wait for it everyone, Simeon is going to sniff "Well, cartmen, you have proven your ignorance once again. Egypt recognizes Israel as does Jordan, ha ha, ha, ha." LOL - I love liveing in his/hers/its head LOL.

Simeon Cana| 10.21.10 @ 2:46PM

Good Guess! Of course its not hard. I do keep commendting about how you go out of your way to prove your ignorance and lack of education in many posts.

But then, you prompt that by going out of your way to prove your ignorance and lack of education in all your posts.

Dont blame others for your own staggering stupidity kid, and dont blame others for calling you on it.

Now tell us more about the 'president of Canada' you mindless little adolescent. LOL!

Eric Cartman| 10.21.10 @ 3:00PM

See?! He/she/it just can't get me out of his/hers/its head. It's a beautiful thing.

Aladdin| 10.22.10 @ 3:44AM

I highly doubt that "it" is a beautiful thing, Eric.
Shudder.

RonL | 10.21.10 @ 11:34PM

When can we call it treasonous, if not treason?
Hamas (the Islamic Resistance Movement) was co-founded by an Egyptian-Educated Palestinian radical and member of the Muslim Brotherhood, Abdullah Yusuf Azzam. The same Azzam founded Mekhtab al-Khadimat (Services Office, MAK) and took Osama Bin Laden as his protege. After Azzam's assassination, Bin Laden took over MAK and later formed Al Qaeda.
Hamas's goals are limited to the creation of a Caliphate and control of all lands once dominated by Muslims including but not limited to Israel, Spain, the Balkans, southern Italy, and parts of Russia. They may not be Al Qaeda, but they are tied in with them and are our enemy.

Bigmo| 10.25.10 @ 3:12AM

Hamas wants to do with israel what israel did with Palestine.

So what? The Neocons want everyone to fight their wars.

Ron Paul for President
