Explaining why she has refused to debate her Republican challenger, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that raising money for Democratic candidates “across the country” is a higher priority for her.”

A video posted at Republican John Dennis’s Web site, shows Pelosi being asked, “”Would you be open to debating your Republican opponent John Dennis in San Francisco?”

Pelso reponds: “Let me tell you what my priorities are. My priorities are to elect a Democratic Congress. In order to do that, it is essential for me - time is money for me. [Traveling] around this country, to amass the resources to put my candidates on TV. Whether I get a bigger majority or not in my district is not the point.”

Dennis first requested a debate with Pelosi a month ago, and recorded a humorous video about her refusal to debate:

This is typical. The incumbent only agrees to debates if the challenger is close in the polls. In other words, they only debate if they have to.

Yep. And if voters were actually responsible, they would demand that the sitting representative debate his/her opponents. Anything less should mean an automatic loss of support... and thus an automatic loss of the race. Unfortunately, most of the voters (the ones deciding for the rest of us) are too lazy to care.

"Pelosi said that raising money for Democratic candidates "across the country" is a higher priority for her.""

So now let me get this straight. This woman is hell-bent on raising money right? Political campaigning profits if you will.

BUT!!! Any private individual or business that prioritize raising money and profits are evil horrible terrible???

Pound sand Nancy.

For once I agree with her. Almost ANYthing is more important than the voters in San Francisco. The dog crap my neighbor has to shovel every morning is more important than the voters in San Francisco. After all, they were the ones who gave us the Botox Bitch.

Actually, this is the first sensible thing I've heard come out her mouth! Lets give credit where its due. She knows her constituents

Pilosi is history after 1/1/11, since the incoming Republicans elected in November will constitute the majority and therefore be able to elect Boehner, etc as the new speaker. She will still be a representative, but not speaker. The most important race IMO is in Navada, since unless Angle defeats Reid, he will still be majority leader. The old bag's days of fraudently misspending the taxpayers' money are numbered. Good riddence indeed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well if the more optimistic of the Republican pollers are right. Angle could lose, but the Republicans could take the Senate anyway. Then come 2011 there would be Harry, all dressed up with no place to sit.

Oldefarte| 10.17.10 @ 10:24AM

Me thinks that the odds are more in favor of Angle winning than Republicans overtaking the senate, but we'll see November 2!!!!!!!!!

Frisco voters are so hifalutin they enjoy the smell of their own farts. And yes, I darn well said Frisco on freakin' purpose. Stick that in your Hybrid and chomp on it.

Oldefarte| 10.17.10 @ 10:33AM

Yea, Friscoians do a lot of SMOKIN of a lot of things, and their 'OWN FARTS' are probably the most legal of the bunch. As to 'ANYONE BUT NEWT', we'd all be better off if he [or Clem Caddlehopper] was Speaker instead of FACE LIFT NANCY!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait for Fancy Nancy to lose her Speakership.
