Talk about promoting failure! Rebecca Wertz is the Justice
Department lawyer who has completely fumbled the protection of
military voters, even
telling an audience last February that the DoJ would be very
reluctant to litigate to force states to comply with a new law
mandating that ballots be sent to military personnel abroad at
least 45 days before Election Day. DoJ, under Wertz,
continues to foul up the process, as
reported today by Christian Adams, with the latest example (of
many) being absolute failure to force New York State to abide by
the law:
New York City and Westchester Country are but two of the several
New York jurisdictions which admitted that they failed to mail
military ballots. This fact should have been known on October 2,
when the Justice Department should have marched into court seeking
an immediate order that the ballots be sent — preferably by rapid
express mail.
Instead, a Justice Department press flack says they are in
“urgent discussions.” Great. Congress should ask why they aren’t in
urgent “litigation.” New York had already received a waiver, which
DOJ supported, allowing the state to mail ballots on October 1.
They couldn’t even meet that relaxed deadline.
Now, JUST TODAY, we at the editorial board at
the Washington Times (including Yours Truly) note that Ms.
Wertz’ ostrich-like (or worse) behavior is to be REWARDED by making
her temporary promotion permanent: ” Mr.
Perez also made permanent the appointment of Rebecca Wertz as
the principal deputy chief of the Voting Section. Ms. Wertz’s
management of the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act has
been so lackluster that military-rights groups are screaming about
disenfranchisement of American troops.”
This is part of a raft of new hires and promotions in the
“career” ranks at DoJ — EVERY single one of them a liberal. Gee,
whatever happened to the importance of apolitical hiring?
Among the new hires are: Sharyn
Tejani comes from the National Partnership for Women and
Families, a hotbed of liberal activism, where she served as one of
the lead attorneys filing a Supreme
Court brief supporting an explicitly race-based refusal to
promote white firemen in New Haven, Conn. Aaron
Schuham comes directly from Americans United for Separation of
Church and State - a group so leftist, it has argued the
Obama administration isn’t liberal enough.
We await with breathless anticipation the establishment media
taking even slight umbrage at this, after having conniption fits
when the Bush DoJ used political considerations in hiring.
Meanwhile, the biggest scandal is the disenfranchisement of our
military in far-flung locales, protecting our freedoms.
One imagines that if the Obama administration expected military
folks to vote for Democrats more than Republicans — as felons do
— the Obamites would show a little more urgency about protecting
their votes. Instead, they promote the person who refuses or
utterly fails to protect those voting rights. Outrageous.

The Constitution, Article II, Section 3, near the end, "...he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed...". "he" is the President and this is just one of many areas of DOJ, that this administration is weakening "the Laws", a couple of others, the New Black Panthers voter intimidation case, and Immigration judges being lax in extending sentances upon illegal immigrants.

Combat military personnel are not “normal”. When they are presented with the question “am I willing to risk my life, lose my life, for some people I’ve never met, many of whom are convinced that my mission is a ridiculous mistake” they respond with the “wrong” answer of “yes”.
Think about the high fives that Al Gore’s attorneys gave each other when they successfully disqualified military personnel ballots in the 2000 election.
But is this something new?
Not really.
November 1864. The Republican presidential candidate wants to continue a horrific civil war, which ultimately claims the lives of 650,000 Americans in a population less than one tenth the population today. That’s right. 6,500,000 KIA today. There is a vigorous anti-war movement that finds its home in, that’s right, the Democrat Party. They choose as their candidate an immensely respected and beloved military figure, responsible by all accounts for the creation and training of the army that was now prevailing in the field, whose objective was to end the war and accept the splintering of the former United States of America into two halves.
Common sense said that the current administration, which had and is going to get a lot of guys in blue [and gray] killed, would be at risk to “allow” those guys in blue to vote in that election of November 1864.
But common sense was wrong. Mobile polling booths were setup, in the field, and those guys in blue marched from the firing line to the polling booth and back to the firing line overwhelmingly voting for the current administration.
The present administration is not stupid. They know their history. They know that Lincoln whacked McClellan WITH the benefit of the military vote in time of war. They know it is to their advantage to “disenfranchise” the present military lest they cast votes against them.
And that’s what it means to be a Democrat.

Also in those days, during the "Draft" riots in NYC, Democratic Aldermen and State Senators demanded that police be withdrawn from the riot areas (they were oppressing the poor, don't you know). Tamanny thugs burned and looted countless homes and businesses including three police station, a Protestant Mission, and The Colored Orphan's Asylum. Many Blacks were brutally totured and killed. Then, as now, your Democratic Party sticking up for the little guy.

I'm going to enumerate this administration's partisaned attackes upon those in disagreement with its agenda [for those that act too 'STUPIDLY' as El Chosen One likes to pontificate, which hopefully there are none]: [1] the Dof J's conveniently dragging it feet on getting out election ballots to military personnel so that their votes will not be counted in the November elections; [2] the Inter Dept's purposely not granting oil drilling permits on both offshore deep water [and shallow water] Gulf drilling operations to satisfy its environmental wacko friends AKA SEX-CRAZED POODLE AL; [3] the D of J filing a lawsuit against Arizona over its immigration lagislation so that illegals can immigrate into this country, their legal relatives will vote for Democratic candidates in support of El Chosen One's policy, and probably so that Muslim terrorists can infiltrate and imiigrate alongside same [4] the D of J's non-enforcement of federal civil rights laws against minority-defendents in affirmative action style practices, and the hiring of radically-extremists lawyers AKA William Kunstlerish to managerially promote such illegal and fraudent practices [5] the D of J refusal to investigate their firing of one of its career lawyers/Gerald Walpin over his investigation of the political corruption involving a supporter of El Chosen One. If these examples don't SLAP THE IDIOTS WHO VOTED FOR THESE CORRUPT POLITICIANS UPSIDE THIER MORONIC CRANEAL CAVITIES into the reality of this dangerous situation now facing this country and MOTIVATE THEM INTO VOTING IN NOVEMBER TO CORRECT THIS ABOMINATION, then these same people are [as Forrest Gumpt once said] STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!!!!!!!!!!

Good thing Hubby is out of town... I am so angry about the purposeful disenfranchisement of our people in uniform. They are a more educated and truly honorable part of our citizenry, much more so than our DoJ. When I think about the current admin accusing the Chamber of Commerce without ANY proof whatsoever and compare that to the blatant illegal delay in mailing out military ballots in a clear undeniable pattern... These people must be evil indeed.
Does anyone know of an organization that is taking on the govt in a substantive way? There is such a clear pattern of the admin allowing wavers of the law in a capricious and arbitrary manner. Think immigration, health care, voting rights ie black panthers and military ballots, the list is unending.
This is not equal protection under the law.
Texas Mom 2010| 10.12.10 @ 7:14AM
Is there an organization trying to force the govt to enforce the law about when military ballots must be mailed? Anyone going to court to force the govt to allow these ballots to be counted no matter how late they are received? I want to send that cause as much as I can spare....

You have two brands of idiots who voted for these corrupt politicians. There are the profoundly uninformed who have no interest in details and will never learn of these violations of the law and will continue to vote in ignorance. And you have the profoundly illinformed who may be aware of this but are willing to accept it as a means to their ends.

Strange:
During boot camps, soldiers-in-training learn to crawl as part of self-preservation skills when under fire.
Now they've got to crawl for a ballot?

Adding more liberal appointees to 2nd and 3rd tier positions garantees Obama legacy, well after the USA Electorate is done tossing him down the Captial steps.

When we talk of draining the swamp, all too often, our attention stops at elected officials. True reform of Washington will start with term limits and greater accountability for the career bureaucrats.

In OH, George Soros' Secretary of State allowed the votes of busloads of people shipped in from NY to be counted in the 2008 election. She was not held accountable and is now running for higher office, while still being in charge of the vote this year. For the record, her name is Jennifer Brunner.
