Slow Learners

The Independent headline, linked by Drudge, blares “Fears of Chinese land grab as Beijing’s billions buy up resources”. It seems that the Chinese are serious about ensuring they have energy to grow their economy.

And what makes this so fearful is that certain rich western countries have gotten used to saying ‘no’ to all sorts of resources that work. Like, say, Canada’s oil sands, a major stake in which the Chinese have then purchased. Gulf of Mexico oil and gas exploration. Ditto. And so on.

Gee. Really? Told you so.

Is our government - sorry, progressive government - so stupid? Oh wait, maybe when they reach the critical point they'll just pull a Castro or Chavez and nationalize what the Chinese bought. They are geniuses after all.
