In a long and rambling radio interview, CNN host Rick Sanchez called Jon Stewart a “bigot” and then joked that Jews couldn’t be considered a minority because they run the major media networks.

“I’m telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they, the people in this country who are Jewish, are an oppressed minority?” he said sarcastically, laughing. “Yeah.”

Audio here.

What is he, auditioning for a job on Fox?

I kid, I kid. But seriously, Rick Sanchez is a moron.

Patriot| 10.1.10 @ 4:31PM

What's Fox got to do with it? You and Rick Sanchez are both morons.

tonypal| 10.1.10 @ 4:35PM

He doesn't need to audition for Fox. This mindless twit is already home. Scratch that. He'll be home when he moves to MSNBC.

Alan Brooks| 10.1.10 @ 8:40PM

Perhaps Jews do run the media-- which might be why the media usually shows a profit (like modern, democratic -oriented Israel) not a loss (like quasi-feudalistic Palestinian-controlled territory).

Occam's Tool| 10.4.10 @ 10:52AM

Touche'!!!!! Excellent, Monsier Brooks! Well Played!

Patriot| 10.1.10 @ 4:30PM

I'm not a big fan of Jon Stewart, but what did he ever do to Rick Sanchez to elicit this kind of hatred?

Didn't Sanchez hit and kill a man in Florida while driving under the influence? He's crazy.

DRed| 10.1.10 @ 4:46PM

Stewart makes fun of him a lot.

And yes, he killed a guy in the early 90s, I think, while driving drunk. Real winner.

Sean| 10.1.10 @ 5:23PM

Jews aren't an oppressed minority. The 90 percent or so liberal Jews that vote for socialist Democrats do oppress us free Americans and I wouldn't doubt that they run or are very influential in the major media networks.

Willey| 10.1.10 @ 5:28PM

So? Lots of "Christians" vote for Socialist Democrats, too.

Sean| 10.1.10 @ 5:47PM

When a group is doing something at over 90% dont complain about stereotypes.

Willey| 10.1.10 @ 5:56PM

Why do you care what they do?

Rod| 10.2.10 @ 11:48AM

its "we" free Americans- not "us" free Americans- doh

Mike W| 10.4.10 @ 10:48AM

Jews are an oppressed minority?? Somebody is doing drugs if they believe that silliness.

Yes, they are mostly liberal and influential in network news.

They vote overwhelmingly Democrat, they are open borders supporters and typically want to increase the size of the welfare state. They don't all believe that way but most do. As with every other citizen, it is their right.

Lullabys, Legends and Lies| 10.1.10 @ 6:09PM

Rick Sanchez is starting to sound like he's the Grand Dragon of the growing Brown Klan in America. Maybe this is his new plan to finally get some ratings over there at CNN. "Hey, let's watch Rick Sanchez tonight, and see who he's going to go off on this time. Maybe it'll be the Jews, maybe Angry Whitey, or maybe the Black Teenagers with their underwear hanging out of their pants." Wow, that audio was great, this guy has totally lost it, but I'm going to be watching him tonight for sure!!

Siegfried X| 10.1.10 @ 6:23PM

Sanchez reportedly no longer works for CNN.

A statement by CNN reported that “Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company. We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well.“

I think its cool that they fired him. Whether it was true or not- it was anti-semitic and bigoted and he should be setting a higher standard. So what if some high percentage of them are Jewish? Look at Fox- and what they are- overrun by gentiles? Who gives a rats ass about that?

Tim*| 10.1.10 @ 8:45PM

Jon Stewart is a bigot .

" On “The Daily Show” on June 17, fake correspondent Samantha Bee interviewed two priests and two nuns who are watchdogging Goldman Sachs for a liberal interfaith group.

Jon Stewart started the Catholic-bashing in his introduction: “Sometimes it’s easy to spot the villain in a story. Sometimes it’s not.”

Bee joked to the priests and nuns: “Jesus wants us all to be rich. The Pope gets it. Have you even seen his ceiling?” Later, she joked that these “churchies” are “maybe not the best messengers.” When they suggested Goldman Sachs needed more transparency, Bee stressed with a laugh track: “Hold on. The Catholic Church wants more transparency.” Referring to this spring’s round of media investigations and church statements on priest sexual abuse, she said “Wouldn’t it be better to just lay low for a little while?” She narrowed her eyes and lectured a financial analyst: “Goldman Sachs is losing a P.R. war to the Catholic Church. That is not easy to do.”
" In an interview on the National Public Radio show “Fresh Air” on June 2, Bee revealed that she loves the church-mocking as a “terribly lapsed” Catholic. “So it is joyful for me to do that. That is pure pleasure for me, I will say.”

Herb Tarlek| 10.1.10 @ 9:01PM

The Daily Show had the british guy on saying that if we keep the mosque away from ground zero, we need to keep churches away from playgrounds. I was offended.

Paul Zummo| 10.1.10 @ 9:38PM

“Sometimes it’s easy to spot the villain in a story. Sometimes it’s not.”

Fitting then that the saying applies to this story as well, though Sanchez probably laps Stewart when it comes to inherent stupidity.

YNPGAL| 10.2.10 @ 7:05PM

I think Rick Sanchez should have been fired as a professional newscaster it's best to remain unbiased and not fire out blanket statements or opinions, especially those that single out a particular populace of people.

Personally I do think Jon Stewart can at times acts like a bigot. I used to love his show. I'm a democrat and very tolerate of other people, but I do get peeved with his bashing of Christians at times. It's not particularly funny and even as a Protestant his jokes about the Pope made me stop watching his show. We have freedom of press and freedom of religion and with that people, in the media especially, make controversial statements that are inappropriate. Stewart is not a real newscaster (in the traditional sense) so he doesn't get fired. Sanchez works at CNN and is held to a higher standard. Stewart has a right to voice his, at times bigotted opinions, the trick is to tune it out and those who enjoy that humor can watch him.

Autumn| 10.5.10 @ 1:12AM

Sanchez got fired because his ratings were low and he stunk at his job. His remarks about Stewart were just a pretext for his termination.

Michael L. Hauschild| 10.1.10 @ 9:28PM

Drudge says Sanchez was fired by CNN.

Patriot| 10.1.10 @ 11:24PM

If Sanchez decides to cry in his beer and get drunk tonight, I hope he stays the hell out of his car. Look out pedestrians!

Yosemeti Sam| 10.2.10 @ 1:06AM

Um, is this hit-n-run Sanchez character related to that Florida Grayson political drive-by character?

Patriot| 10.2.10 @ 2:46AM

I don't know about the Freak Grayson angle, but Sanchez did kill a man while driving drunk.

Eric Cartman| 10.2.10 @ 1:35AM

Let's see . . . kick Sanchez when he's down and because he's a Liberal asshole, or punch Stewart in the face because he's such a Liberal scumbag? Why do you present me with such an abundance of choices, God? Why? Why?

Hmmph! This is tough. Anyone want to help exploit this cat fight to the fullest and for a long time? Anyone?

ActaNonverba| 10.2.10 @ 2:54AM

Jewish people are, pound for pound, the most well off people in the United States. A great percentage are college educated and have professional occupations. They are incredibly disproportionately represented in government and the media. what's the freaking big whoop? Everybody knows this. At worst, these simple facts tend to suggest high achievement and perhaps a bit of nepotism, not too bad really. But, when you fire someone for pointing it out it looks EVIL and oppressive.

Autumn| 10.2.10 @ 3:09AM

Boo hoo. My heart is breaking for the poor, politically correct libtard. Sanchez didn't just point it out--he was quite nasty about it.

He's a liberal hack anyway.

gearjammer| 10.3.10 @ 10:01AM

Jewish folks have done well, and money and power wise in the USA they have their impact and clout. But, it really is over matched, I think, by this latest wave of antisemitism through the world. Inside America, they are most hated by the Academia, black people, and growing numbers of these " Latinos", of course, it goes without saying, the American Muslims as well. Yet, they align themselves with such fervor to the democrat party, which with each passing day must further appease the previously mentioned groups. More proof that the smartest people are not always rich and adorn their walls with diplomas.

Mike W| 10.4.10 @ 10:53AM

You make an interesting point that African Americans are typically , the biggest anti-Semites in this country. I have found this to be true in my personal experience with blacks. It wouldn't suprise me that Latinos are the same. Why is the Jewish leadership so liberal in light of this?

Occam's Tool| 10.4.10 @ 10:57AM

Because American Jews have a lousy sense of self-preservation. Those of us who do, for the most part, (I'm an exception), live in Israel.

Jews are over-represented in the media compared to their percentage of the population at large. That is a matter of fact. It is also a matter of fact that Jews are not "oppressed" in America at all - they are wealthier per capita than their gentile counterparts, and there is no definition of "oppression" that has as its result wild success. So, what is Philip Klein complaining about? Are non-Jews barred from noting the success of Jews in America?

Siegfried X| 10.2.10 @ 9:23AM

Jesse Jackson made vicious anti-Semitic remarks, but they were forgiven because he's a Democrat. Most Democratic blogs feature anti-Israeli, anti-Semitic comments on a regular basis.

matthew s harrison| 10.4.10 @ 9:54AM

Sanchez, like all good little MSM types, was defending the white house. One of the prerequisites to be a "journalist", is to be an anti-Semite. Stewart, once a drooling fan of barry's, had the gall to make jokes about subverting the constitution from the oval office-and Ricky decided to let him have it.
I would have thought the attack would come from someone with a real "journalistic" background like the brilliant Katie Couric, or Matt Lauer, or better yet Paul Krugman, but they were all busy running cover for Democrat candidates in Rhode Island, Write-ins in Alaska, and of course busy assassinating Joe Arpiao's character.
In the end, the oddest thing about this, is the very network that fired Sanchez for making anti-Semitic statements, is guilty of aiding the WH in their ongoing attempt to topple the conservative government in Israel. Since when does Ted Turner have a conscience?

Occam's Tool| 10.4.10 @ 10:55AM

This Jew votes Conservative. That being said, perhaps Sean can be kind enough to track all of the Jewish conspiracies out there so I will know when it's my turn to go to the Cave in Barbados to control the world's money supply.

It should be pointed out that George Soros, who is biologically Jewish, is virulently pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel, and helped steal property from his fellow Jews during the Holocaust.

Autumn| 10.5.10 @ 1:15AM

One turd in the punch bowl and you focus on him? Sean's a Ron Paul-punk and not worth your time.

Michael Santomauro| 10.14.10 @ 2:52AM

What happened to Oliver Stone is a good case study. The Wall Street Journal reported this past summer that Stone said that “public opinion was focused on the Holocaust because of ‘Jewish domination of the media.’” Stone also said that the Jews “stay on top of every comment, the most powerful lobby in Washington. Israel has f—– up United States foreign policy for years.”

Like so many others before him, Stone groveled: “In trying to make a broader historical point about the range of atrocities the Germans committed against many people, I made a clumsy association about the Holocaust, for which I am sorry and I regret. Jews obviously do not control media or any other industry.”

How Jewish is Hollywood? That’s the question Los Angeles Times columnist Joel Stein asked two years ago just before Christmas. In answer, he wrote:

When the studio chiefs took out a full-page ad in the Los Angeles Times a few weeks ago to demand that the Screen Actors Guild settle its contract, the open letter was signed by: News Corp. President Peter Chernin (Jewish), Paramount Pictures Chairman Brad Grey (Jewish), Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Robert Iger (Jewish), Sony Pictures Chairman Michael Lynton (surprise, Dutch Jew), Warner Bros. Chairman Barry Meyer (Jewish), CBS Corp. Chief Executive Leslie Moonves (so Jewish his great uncle was the first prime minister of Israel), MGM Chairman Harry Sloan (Jewish) and NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker (mega-Jewish). If either of the Weinstein brothers had signed, this group would have not only the power to shut down all film production but to form a minyan with enough Fiji water on hand to fill a mikvah.

Needless to say, Stein was not fired for writing this, nor was he rebuked in the least. As we have seen time and again, there is a glaring double standard about alluding to Jewish power in the media. Jews are free to reference it, but woe unto the non-Jew who wades into those shark-infested waters.

Joe Sobran who died this past week had this to say about Jewish media power:

“Jewish control of the major media in the media age makes the enforced silence both paradoxical and paralyzing. Survival in public life requires that you know all about it, but never refer to it. A hypocritical etiquette forces us to pretend that the Jews are powerless victims; and if you don’t respect their victimhood, they’ll destroy you. It’s a phenomenal display not of wickedness, really, but of fierce ethnocentrism, a sort of furtive racial superpatriotism.”

In 1996, reprinted in the May 27th issue of the New York Times, by Ari Shavit, an Israeli columnist describing his feelings on the killings of a hundred civilians in a military skirmish in southern Lebanon. Shavit wrote, “We killed them out of a certain naive hubris. Believing with absolute certitude that now, with the White House, the Senate, and much of the American media in our hands, the lives of others do not count as much as our own.”
