The Hill (via Drudge): ‘Dems to stuff 20 bills into post-election lame duck session:’
Democrats are considering cramming as many as 20 pieces of legislation into the lame-duck session they plan to hold after the Nov. 2 election.
The array of bills competing for floor time shows the sense of urgency among Democratic lawmakers to act before the start of the 112th Congress, when Republicans are expected to control more seats in the Senate and House.
Including:
Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.), chairman of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, is intent on passing a renewable electricity standard.
As I note today in the Washington Times, Republican Sen. Sam Brownback is co-sponsoring the RES legislation, which they announced at a press conference last week. Doesn’t the Kansas Senator (also the GOP nominee for governor) look proud?

But his Republican colleague from South Carolina, Sen. Jim DeMint, says “not so fast!” Politico:

South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint warned Monday evening that he would block all legislation that has not been cleared by his office in the final days of the pre-election session.
Bret Bernhardt, DeMint’s chief of staff, said in an e-mail to GOP aides that his boss would place a hold on all legislation that has not been cleared by both parties by the end of the day Tuesday.
The beauty of obstructionism.

Go Jim,Go! I gave the maximum allowed to the Senate Conservative Fund and I am counting you to obstruct ALL the big government proposals.

I'm afraid Mr. DeMint will find McConnell, McCain, and almost all other republicans quickly abandoning him and reaching out to the democrats in the name of "civility" and "courtesy" and "rules and traditions of the Senate." Decline and fall.

and that is why we're sending the troops to him, Sheila. They may be kept very busy by the GOP, but they're going to Jim - not McConnell.

McConnell and the other RINOs will face a legion of Conservatives armed with fury and guillotines if and when they start collaborating with the treacherous Democrats.

Jim DeMint just annointed himself king. Following this precedent means every single Republican Senator now has legislative powers equivalent to the president's. Hooray!!!
Irish22| 9.28.10 @ 2:46PM
Actually they have half the legislative power of the President . . .

If Jim follows through and stops the lame ducks from passing all their crap, he might actually become the Tea Party hero that Palin is trying to be now.
Patriot| 9.28.10 @ 11:50PM
Palin's been fearless, and she has stood alone against a withering assault from the Left for two years now--she's already earned her stripes as a Tea Party hero.
Palin defended the Republic when no one else, male or female, on our side could or would defend it. Why disparage her for her stalwart heart? It's outrageously ungrateful.
Remember Reagan's 11th Commandment. If you don't know it, look it up.
