Wolf Protects Panther Case

As Fox News has been reporting all day, tomorrow could absolutely blow the lid off the New Black Panther voter intimidation case, which I trust our readers are somewhat familiar with. Chris Coates is the former ACLU attorney and highly decorated civil rights lawyer, a career veteran at the Department of Justice, who now is putting his job on the line to testify about the Panther case despite  an (illegal) order from DoJ for him not to testify. Coates is an honest man. He will be testifying under oath. This is a big deal.

U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf took the bull by the horns. See this:… oops, I can’t figure out the technology to reproduce the whole letter here. Oh,well…. Wolf has written AG Eric Holder to warn him NOT to interfere with Coates’ testimony. “You should be aware that federal offcials who deny or interfere with employees’ rights to furnish infomration to Congress ar not entitled to have their salaries paid by the taxpayers. As ranking member on the [subcommittee with jurisdiction of DoJ funding], I assure you that I take this statute very seriously and will do everythng in my power to enforce it should any negative actions be taken against Mr. Coates….”

This is getting very interesting!

What do you bet he or a relative of his has an unfortunate "accident?" No way these Chicago thugs let this see the light of day.

serfer62| 9.23.10 @ 6:56PM

This has been a black cloud just waiting for the OHbama gang...and perfect timing too.

Rick V.| 9.24.10 @ 5:49AM

serfer - a "black cloud"? Racist, racist, racist! Jeez, c'mon, the First Black President of the United States (FBPOTUS) can do anything he wants. Can't he?

Jack Kinch(1uncle)| 9.23.10 @ 7:40PM

If there is any problem, could funding be cut off for DoJ?

Catherine| 9.23.10 @ 7:44PM

Great title, Quin! Love reading your articles at Am. Spec. Hope you are doing well...

If I read the constitution right, any non-military employee of the U.S. government can be impeached, from Holder on down. Kind of hard to get thorough the Senate, though.

Tim*| 9.24.10 @ 10:56AM

Time to bring these Black Racist Twerps Down .

Nate| 9.24.10 @ 2:52PM

Yes, they're "twerps."

Precisely.

Do "twerps" deserve column after column in online publications?

Do "twerps" deserve hours of coverage on Fox News for weeks?

This is a bullshit non-story, and I can only think of one reason to be trying to blow it up into something of national significance.

Rich Fisher| 9.24.10 @ 8:15PM

Would it be a non story if it had been the KKK standing around polling places preventing blacks from voting and intimidating them, while armed. It's a big deal and needs to be aired out. Do you think George Bush and John Ashcroft could have gotten away with this? Would they have even tried?

Nate| 9.24.10 @ 9:59PM

It depends, Rich.

If it were the KKK of the first half of the 20th century, with tens of thousands of members and tacit support of racist state governments, it would be a very big deal indeed.

If it were two hicks standing around in an all white district that voted for McCain, then no, it would not be a very big deal.

You'd do well to get some facts on this case before you opine on it.

Patriot| 9.24.10 @ 11:44PM

Equal protection for all. Get used to it, fascist.

Drip, drip, drip; every bit helps bring the fascist liberals down. Love it.

Nate| 9.24.10 @ 12:37PM

I cannot believe you're still harping about this non-story.

I thought if I went away for a few weeks you'd be concentrating on something important, like whether or not Obama has a "Kenyan, anti-colonialist mindset."

Look:

When you use the phrases "black panthers" and "voter intimidation," you conjure images from another time.

The Black Panther party was once a fairly widespread movement in this country. The "New" black panther party is NOT. It's a few dopes wearing military clothes and shouting at people.

As for "voter intimidation," you harken back to the days when racists in the south prevented millions of blacks from voting. Blacks were threatened by terrorist organizations designed to maintain white supremacy, often with the help or approval of government officials.

This case is just NOTHING like that, and the amount of attention you give amounts to a DISTORTION.

In journalism you have to some kind of sense of proportion.

The New Black Panther party is not nearly the threat to this Republic as the fear-mongering and race-baiting that is clearly a part of Fox News's business strategy.

Flee| 9.24.10 @ 3:17PM

If you changed all your Black Panther entries above to Aryan Nation thugs would you still feel the same way about it being a non story? Take off your blinders and think about how it appears to non-blacks in this country when their justice department seems to choose who they will prosecute based on the color of their skin.

Nate| 9.24.10 @ 10:01PM

It depends, Flee. A little context matters. But there are a lot more white supremacist groups in this country than groups like this puny troop of nitwits.

There were TWO men involved in this incident. Two!

This is not a big "group." It's NOTHING like the original black panthers, and it's NOTHING like the KKK.

Patriot| 9.24.10 @ 11:45PM

Equal protection for ALL, moron. Get used to it.

Oldefarte| 9.24.10 @ 4:51PM

Obviously your boss/Eric locked you inside of a D of J closet and recently let you out to continue attacking conservative publication bloggers. If you hang in there for a few weeks longer, your CHIEF at 1600 may promote you to fill Rambo's, David-Adolph's, PIG-Christine's or other rat's job [since they all are abondoning the sinking ship of KING SOCIALIST-IN-CHARGE]. Maybe he'll simply assign you the task of figuring out the ultimate question concerning himself.......WHOSE YO DADDY???????????????

Oldefarte| 9.24.10 @ 12:45PM

Fantastic! THIS is exactly WHY we all need to get off our backsides on 11/2/10 and beat a path to our respective polling stations in order to give the Republicans greater numbers to deal with this crap. Don't know about the possibility of impeaching the head of the D of J, but I do know that HIS BOSS AT 1600 CAN BE THUS DEALT WITH [given the requisite congressional numbers available] !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will| 9.24.10 @ 3:12PM

Just watched the testimony, and it was interesting to see that administration flunkies continue to attempt an end run around the law, despite the evidence. Taking on politically correct racism and dealing with it sets an important precedent. We've seen enough outrage from this bogus administration, that claims "civil rights" as it's heritage and is sworn to uphold and defend the constitution. Prosecuting those that committed the act, and those that were party to covering it up and subverting the law, go a long way in preventing a repeat performance.

Andrew B| 9.24.10 @ 3:47PM

Good to see that Nate thinks this is a non-story. Hmmm, let's see: US Government officials at the highest level conspiring to deprive voters of their rights based on race. Gee, Nate's right! No problem at all here!

If anyone of any color attempts to block anyone of any color from voting through criminal action, that person should be thrown in jail. If the New Black Panthers do it or if Bull Connor does it makes no difference.

Anyone who thinks otherwise can only be doing so out of malign racial intent. Or is there some fine nuance I have missed?

Rich Fisher| 9.24.10 @ 8:18PM

The only nuance you missed is that Nate is a flaming racist apologist for the Black Panthers.

Nate| 9.24.10 @ 10:02PM

Rich,

I'm a flaming racist apologist? Yes, indeed. And you're a brain surgeon.

Great talking to you.

Patriot| 9.24.10 @ 11:46PM

Nate's a Fascist Liberal--need I say more?

Those two black bastards should be punished.

AnalogMan| 9.25.10 @ 7:14AM

Agreed.

er... which two black bastards were those, again? Holder and which other? Obama?

Patriot| 9.25.10 @ 11:10AM

I meant the two black thugs at the polling station, but now that you mention it...
