Mourning in America

This new ad is absolutely powerful stuff. It comes courtesy of the new-generation Citizens for the Republic (the same name used by Ronald Reagan’s PAC in the 1970s), The board of Citizens for the Republic includes longtime Reaganites Ed Meese, Peter Hannaford, Dan Oliver, Mari Massing Will, Craig Shirley, Diana Banister and William Pascoe.

The ad reads in part:

“There’s mourning in America. Today, 15 million men and women won’t have the opportunity to go to work.
Businesses shuttered …

“Our government is now taking over the choices we once made in life. There’s mourning in America.

“Under the leadership of President Obama, our country is fading, and weaker, and worse off. His policies
were a grand experiment – policies that failed.

“This November let’s choose a smaller, more caring government … one that remembers us.”

Uh…. wow. Indeed.

They could have done without the "more caring government." Let's a smaller, more responsible government. And let's have more caring churches and families.

Amen Katievs.

Yes. Exactly right, Katievs.

Katievs, I concur as well. This is an instance of 'subconscious writing', wherein the ad writers are trying hard to be 'liberals light' and best them at their own game of putative caring. They can't be bested at that game, because it's all spurious to begin with. Let government function with objectivity and restraint, and the vaunted generosity and caring of the American people will be there, as it always has been.

Booger| 9.21.10 @ 5:06PM

"more caring government"="compassionate conservatism"?

Jeff Perren | 9.21.10 @ 5:30PM

It has some good points but the last thing I want is for the government to "remember me." I want them to forget me, and forget about me, forever.

I also wouldn't mind if the entire crew just forgot to go to work for a few years.

Powerful indeed and EXACTLY what I though Jeff, Booger, K and Katievs, smaller government OK, caring? Ah-h, not like it sounds anyhow, responsive sure, but I'll care for myself and my own thank you very much. Just stay out of the way as much as possible

I immediately picked up on the "caring" and went to post a comment and saw y'all were here first. Well said. My other comment is that it's not only Mr. Obama's policies that failed but big government republicans, such as Mr. McCain's suspend-the-campaign-to-spend-800 billion-of-more-debt and those squishes who went right along...
As Gen. Forrest replied when he was asked what they should do when his force got surrounded, "We will attack in every direction, sir."
Let's identify, seek and destroy these politicians who are killing our nation.

OK Guys.

I'm going contrarian on you. I'm glad they put the "caring" in there. If it changes one hopey changy heart to an R vote this fall, it was worth it.

Think about it a moment. As a group we are sort of independent cusses around here.

The general viewing public has a pretty large cohort of "dependent needing a mommy" persons.

We see them pop up here all the time. Give them a lolipop.

Where is this ad being aired? Is it being aired?

Deborah D | 9.22.10 @ 9:30AM

I believe it is an internet ad, Mark.

Oldefarte| 9.22.10 @ 11:36AM

OUTSTANDING, TERRIFIC [similar to the WE'RE COMING TO GET YOU ON 11/2/10 ad you notified us about previously]. Once again, these ad messages, similar to the current tea party activites, are wonderful BUT will mean absolutely nothing until/unless every American taxpayer-voter makes the small effort to be at his/her polling station in November 2010 and 2012 in order to bring about TRUE CHANGE. We all simply must do this for ourselves, our children and grandchildren, and for this country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
