Who’s the moonbattiest of them all?
How is it that the Left is so tone-deaf to the perils of
making politics a finger-pointing contest in crazy? Surely
this represents some dissonance, and not that they think all of
those loopy -isms to which their base adheres aren’t swell. That’s
like their making ethics or Mark Foley an issue for Heaven’s sake.
Hey, with a helpful press, just might be, ahem, crazy
enough to work.
Yet here we go again with the Left (and some useful idiots)
needing brown paper bags to get the breathing back in order after
acting out their opposition to a political candidate — say, one
they seem petrified of for some reason, like Christine O’Donnell —
on the basis of the candidate having dabbled in or
associated with adherents of rather exotic belief systems.
Aha, she rubbed elbows with Wiccanism!, the Wiccans’
preferred political party shrieked in horror.
Marxism?
Idon’thearyounahnahnah. Reeeeaallllly putting
the ‘mental’ in environmentalist?
BlahblahblahblahlookoverthereIseeO’Donnellshe’snuts!blahblahblah.
Kidding, right? This isn’t just some attempt to distract from
their Messiah having spent twenty years not listening to the
completely, hatefully unhinged sermonizing of the man he also asked
to marry him and his wife? Haters! they shout.
That Obama’s exceptional choices throughout life are to be
ignored is just an exception? Like Coons, et al.? Again, take this quiz. See
how you do. These people still follow some sort of
oddball like Al Gore around touting his wisdom as that of
some sort of seer. Read those rantings of a fully grown man who
they had no problem placing a heartbeat away from the presidency,
then promoting for the presidency, to whom they now turn for
spiritual and policy healing.
Guys, I’m asking a lot here, but see if we can drag even some
trace element of perspective into your repertoire.

I believe that the Constitution is clear enough that it can be understood by a reasonably well-educated fifteen year old; and that all branches of government should observe its (the Constitutions) limitations to the letter. How fringe is that?

We ,Tea Party Rebels note that The Republican Elitist Ruling Class and their Hired Guns have attempted this marginalizing of Conservative Women on Sarah Palin , Sharron Angle , Nikki Haley and now Christine O'Donnell .
If The Republican Ruling Elite wants A War with The Tea Party , Let's Get It On Here & Now .
The GOP needs Our Tea Party Votes more than We Tea Party Rebels need The GOP .
The Tea Party Rebellion Escalates .
We Can See November From Christine O'Donnell's House .

Well, Mr. Rove you are whinning like a stuck pig.
Grow up! We the Tea Party do not want RINO's
to represent us. We are tired of voting for non-principled party hacks. Look what that has gotten us as a Nation: a 70 year march to socialism and statism. Our cities are denziens of crime, public housing is full of people filled with despair, a nation teetering on insolvency, no jobs and a invasion of illegal immigrants. And what did George Bush and Dennis Hastert do to
fix any of this? Mostlynothing. George couldn't even get oil drilling accomplished.
Booger| 9.19.10 @ 11:53AM
Oil drilling is fine, but we need to think bigger: Nuclear power plants, minimum two a year.

The Moonbat gambit is based on the assumption that most people, i.e. the "center," don't pay much attention to politics and don't give that much thought to issues or ideas. Politics then becomes a kind of popularity contest, like running for Student Council.
Unfortunately, it usually works. How many elections turn on the likability, or lack thereof, of the candidate? In the last election, conservatives tried to point out Obama's left-wing associations, i.e., called him a moonbat, to no avail. Of course, it didn't help that McCain had the charisma of a glass of water, as well as an inept campaign. But Obama simply had better sense that to act like a moonbat.
This is the weakness of the Moonbat gambit: it doesn't work if the target doesn't look or act like one. The best counter-strategy is to run a serious campaign, like Reagan did: explain to voters why they should elect you, and let the opposition turn themselves into moonbats trying to make you look like one. But this means taking the People seriously. Will the GOP leadership do so?
Wondering| 9.19.10 @ 12:32PM
So, what's the average score for the quiz? I only got 50%.
Last paragraph: "Run a serious campaign..." I see a bit of that here and there, mostly on the conservative side, of course, but I'm one that rarely trusts ANY politician. Having had one in the family at one point kinda soured me on the types of people who *usually* run for office. This is definitely not your run-of-the mill off-election year, but even for those candidates I like, they'll still have to prove they mean it. We may have a huge sweep this fall, but I'm having trouble believing anything will be that much different once the dust settles.

This story is such a joke and Horner's headline nails it. Hopefully the independents will have the the same reaction I did when I saw the clip. So what? I mean, for gosh sakes, look at her hair. Burp. What's next on TV?
Hopefully since O'Donnell is now a Christian, she'll use the Master's brilliant strategies with the nitwit reporters who will no doubt ask her about the trite clips to appear: by answering the question with a question.
Mr. Horner's piece has many ideas for just that line of questioning.

The Delaware voters will never vote for a Senate candidate who is too young and inexperienced *, who had academic problems**, who made numerous verbal gaffes***, spoke falsely about personal history****, or associated with political movements outside the mainstream*****. Wait. let me check: age 29 at the time of election after defeating Hale Boggs in 1972, still too young to take the oath of office under the Constitution**plagiarism in law school, ***FDR came on TV in 1929 when the stock market crashed and reassued people among many others,**** described grandfather as coal miner instead of engineer, *****plagiarized British Labour Leader/ socialist Neil Kinnock's autobiographical speech as his own. In fact, Delaware's voters did that in 1972, 1978, 1984, 1990, 1996, 2002 and 2008, and the rest (or 52-3%) of the country's voters also did so in 2008, when it elected Biden. Nothing revealed about Christine O'Donnell to date shows lesser character than the man who is a heartbeat away from the most powerful position in the world. More importantly, every position she has articulated she is on the right side of more issues than he ever has been. While saying "your old guy was worse" is no guaranteed way to win an election, it is important to remember which Senate seat is being discussed here.

The Left did an outstanding job raising money thid election cycle and therefore have plenty of money to blow on outrageous negative ads.
