Leon Wolf has written a review of Meghan McCain’s Dirty, Sexy Politics that would, in a just world, end Miss McCain’s career in journalism.
During the course of his really comprehensive criticism of all things Meghan McCain, Wolf hints at something that I’ve wondered about before:
The most obvious problem with Dirty, Sexy Politics is that grammatically, the book appears to be the work of a high school sophomore. To be more accurate, it appears to be the first draft of an essay written for a high school English class; the one turned in before the teacher makes all the pretty red marks in the margin that helpfully keep students from turning in final papers riddled with comma abuse, sentence fragments, and incorrect punctuation. Each subsequent page of this book contains one grisly crime against the English language after another….
That a graduate of Columbia University, as Ms. McCain purports to be, produced writing this shoddy is bad; that a publishing company let this authorial abortion go to print is an insult to the collective self-worth of our thinking nation….
One would think hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on Ms. McCain’s education (Columbia University FTW!) would have somehow resulted in a basic understanding of the colon and semicolon, but alas - no such luck. [Emphasis mine.]
Though she apparently doesn’t realize it, McCain’s writing is an embarrassment — for her, for her dad, for her readers, etc. Most of all, though, it’s an embarrassment for the Dean of Arts and Science at Columbia who handed Miss McCain her diploma.

Meghan may be a spoiled brat, but the courageous youngsters fighting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are part of her generation, too, you know.
A long as I'm alive, I'll never forget the dirty, sweat-streaked faces of the exhausted young marines who had just fought the long and bloody battle for Fallujah. Never.
I always remind my 21 year old son of the greatness of his generation, and I show him the photos of those fine young marines as proof.

Ms McCain always came off as a really spoiled brat who seems to believe the world revolves around her. That the Republican party should embrace her lib social beliefs to show we are a big tent at the same time showing her contempt for Sarah Palin and her family.
That being said, she wouldn't make a pimple on the butt of one of our young servicemen and women, God Bless them all.
SoCon, we have much to admire in their generation even when there is much to disdain in it as well. Meghan shows the vain spoiled side while young people in the service and around the country also show the best side of their generation.

It is interesting to note that Alexander Hamilton attended what was Columbia University(then known as King's College) but never graduated due to his joining the Colonial forces fighting the Crown from 1776-1782, much of that time as George Washington's Chief of Staff. So now Columbia is reduced to churning out wealthy half-wits like Meghan McCain. If there is anything that better illuminates national decline than the comparison of Hamilton to Miss McCain, I have yet to have it placed before my eyes.
