Bolton For President?

John Bolton says he’s considering running for president (he’s asked at the 1:55 mark):

“I am thinking about it,” he says, “because I think legitimate issues of national security should be more at the center of the national debate than they have been for the last two years.” In other words, this would be a run to highlight issues, and perhaps raise his profile enough to make his support more valuable when he decides to endorse a top-tier candidate.

The Bush Administration's reputation is in tatters, an administration of which Bolton was prominent, and currently Americans are concentrated on the bad economy and not on Middle East affairs. So why would the Republicans pick John Bolton as their presidential candidate? Bolton has as much chance for the Republican nomination as Al Haig did when he ran in 1988 and won zero delegates. If nominated, Bolton has as much chance of defeating the incumbent as Alf Landon did in 1936.

If Bolton runs (oh please, oh please) I will be voting for him early and often!

Mr. Tabin,

Thank you for that. I had missed it.

I really...truly ...like this man. I'm going to go try to find his resume' on the internet as soon as I finish this post.

...Something that tickles the back of my mind. This is the caliber of "Advisor/Cabinet member" that Sarah would bring aboard absolutely soonest.

I've said it before. If Sarah chooses to run, she should go line up her "A-Team" soonest, and announce them.
Thoughts?

If Bolton had his way we'd be at war with Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Lebanon. Bolton is the quintessential NeoCon candidate. They don't call him Bonkers Bolton for nothing.

William,
You Sir are stuck on stupid. Not only that, heh, you obviously cannot read.
Bolton is called "Bomb-em Bolton".

I sort of agree with him. The difference between you and I is that I have lived with the Muslim idiot murderers.

LarryK| 12.30.10 @ 6:27PM

Who calls him that? I've followed him in the news for years and have never heard him called Bonkers. He is definitely a TNS kind of guy.

William R| 9.10.10 @ 12:58PM

No Ken, he's called Bonkers Bolton.

Wow, a citation from antiwar.com. What's next, one from the Worker's Daily of the Communist Party?

It is an old school Conservative Classical Lberal site. Just look at the contributors. Pat Buchanan, Ron Paul, Doug Bandow, David Henderson, Tom Engelhardt etc etc. The Editor Justin Raimondo ran against Nancy Pelosi as a Republican and supported Pat Buchanan in 2000.

Dai Alanye | 9.11.10 @ 7:10PM

I've long refused to condemn Pat Buchanan despite certain idiosyncrasies he's displayed regarding Israel and warfare and stuff. But the other day his head exploded while on MSNBC's Morning Joe, as he demanded that Obama personally go shoot Ken Jones rather than let him burn a koran.

(Perhaps I exaggerate a bit, but it was an embarrassing display by old Pitchfork Pat.)

Yes, Pat pulled a full Phil Davison/Howard Dean on cable TV. The idea of citing him, Ron Paul and Justin Raimondo destroys any claim to rationality an argument might have.

As far as Bolton being President, he'd probably not be my first choice but I'd certainly prefer him to any Democrat now living, and to almost any Republican candidate in the 2008 primaries.

Ken (Old Texican)| 9.10.10 @ 1:31PM

William,
You are still stuck on stupid.

First, heh, I wouldn't lift a finger to go to that site.
Second,
Buchanan and ilk want all of the good things America is and does, with out blood shed by patriots.
Little boy,
The world just doesn't work that way. The price that must be paid for your cowardice, is the blood of our patriots.

You are just enjoying the free ride...so far.

William R| 9.10.10 @ 3:29PM

Ken, you're a third rate buffoon. Nothing more, nothing less. That's all you've ever been and that's all you ever will be.

Oldefarte| 9.10.10 @ 4:22PM

Although I appreciate/admire his foreign policy expertise, I really don't see his igniting conservative enthusiasm. There will be a multitude of adequate conservatives political candidates available as we get closer to November 2012!!!!!!!!!
