It's reported that Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats are doing "triage" in an attempt to save their House majority from an anticipated Republican tsunami on Nov. 2. If a really huge GOP wave comes crashing ashore on Election Day, even a challenge to Steny Hoyer -- called "the longest of long-shot races" by Congressional Quarterly -- might stand a chance at scoring an upset:
In 2006, Hoyer got 83% of the vote (the GOP didn't even have a challenger against him), but in 2008, he only got 74% - Republican Collins Bailey got more than 80,000 votes in a high-tide year for Democrats (Obama carried the 5th District by a 2-to-1 margin).
Democrat enthusiasm is way down this year, so the turnout is likely to be far lower. In 2006, there were barely 200,000 votes cast in the 5th District race. So if there is a similar turnout Nov. 2, and [5th District GOP candidate Charles] Lollar merely matches the GOP's 80,000 total from 2008, that puts him at 40% -- add another 20,000 votes from fed-up-with-Obamanomics Tea Party types, and an upset becomes feasible. . . .
Charles Lollar has an impressive résumé -- an up-from-the-ranks Marine Corps Reserve officer endorsed by Combat Veterans for Congress -- and if he wins the Sept. 14 GOP primary in Maryland's 5th District, Steny Hoyer might need some "triage" close to home.

I remember Mr. Lollar's speech from the 9/12 rally last year, but I couldn't see him from where I was standing at the time (I was waiting at the port-a-potty). But I just went to his website, and watched the video from that day, and now I get the joke he told, "just consider me your cup of coffee, without the cream". Ha, ha!! I get it now!! He's a Marine, and the Marine's can't afford cream to go with their coffee!! I'm in the Army, and I think we have a bigger budget than the Marines do, so they provide us with cream for our coffee? The poor Marines, without any cream in their coffee!!
Now this is the year of the Outsider miracle, but pulling this race out in Maryland, might be a little bit of a stretch, even this year (but who knows?). So go to his website, and think about helping him pullout a miracle. I just did, so don't leave me hanging in the breeze here, huh?

Now if you want to know why you should want to get rid of Steny Hoyer, read the following release from Old Steny about the passing of his friend Ted Kennedy (birds of a feather flock together). A man "should" be judged by his friends, don't you think? And a friend of Teddy, is an enemy of mine!!
WASHINGTON, DC - House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today (8/26) on the passing of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy: “Today, America mourns the death of Sen. Ted Kennedy. He was one of the most dynamic and influential legislators in our Nation's history, and his legacy will live on in the work of the colleagues he inspired, and in the lives of the millions of Americans for whom his passion for social justice made a difference. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends; even though this day was anticipated, I am sure that little can soften the blow. “Throughout his final illness, Sen. Kennedy was privileged to have the best doctors and the best treatment. But he never forgot, in this as in all cases, those who were not similarly privileged: those waiting hours in emergency rooms this morning for a doctor's care; those who went to sleep last night unsure that they were covered, uncertain that their families could cope with the financial burden of an illness. For their sake, health care reform was the cause of Ted Kennedy's life. For their sake, and his, it must be the cause of ours.”
Really? You can say that about Ted Kennedy with a straight face? The guy let a girl drown in his car, for an entire night, and only paid a ticket for it.
Or just watch this video, to see why, after 28 years in Congress, we need to help this man retire this year.

I will be there to do my part. This Hoyer is a joke. He is my Representative, yet he's the master of the canned reply letter. No matter what you ask, the canned reply always comes back. Sort of a "I feel your pain, now, us grownups will do it my way". Maryland, vote this clown out. Lollar will get my vote. I want someone to represent me and the other 75% of Maryland. Maryland does not have to settle for second best.

I have been stuck with Hoyer for every it seems like. Just when I think we can get rid of him they redraw the lines again. This time we do have a shot, and I have been very impressed with Lollar. I hope more people come out and vote Hoyer out, but more importantly vote Lollar in.

Robert, I would be shocked [although gratified] if Hoyer is defeated, since Maryland is right next to California in extreme liberalism. Such an occurance would be akin to Pilosi being defeated in THE LEFTY COAST STATE!!!!!!!!!
Karl| 9.6.10 @ 11:48AM
My wife & I voted Saturday for Charles. Charles Lolar is awesome & he can win this!
Mimi| 9.6.10 @ 2:14PM
I Know there are some good Catholics in Maryland...many of them. I hope they get out to the polls. The Democrat of today is nothing like it was...The left has sucked any good that it had and spit it out. Blue states will be in play this time around. They will need an ARMY of poll-watchers though. Go Maryland patriots...We need to save AMERICA!!!

Sadly, Hoyer's district has been created to make it impossible to defeat him. Although Calvert and St. Mary's Counties are strongly conservative, the rest of the Hoyer district snakes into heavily black and Democratic Prince George's County and also takes in the increasingly "black-flight" and Democratic Charles County. Redistricting should prove fun if Bob Ehrlich wins the governor's race this fall as seems very possible. Perhaps Charles and Calvert can be stripped from Hoyer and given to the MD-1(Eastern Shore) and Hoyer can be pushed into a district with the odious leftie Donna Edwards.

Sorry, but this goes beyond the realm of fantasy. I escaped from the Maryland suburbs decades ago, but on rare visits back the only notable difference is the massive inflow of blacks and hispanics into previously white neighborhoods. A huge percentage of those whites left are loony-left Jews, and every new administration deposits more and more bureaucratic hangers-on into the 'burbs. Maryland has the government (local and federal) it deserves. I suppose if you consider Ehrlich a conservative and/or an improvement, you can always pretend there remains a chance for that benighted state. Decline and fall.

Charles is going to rock the political world by upsetting the number 2 dem in Congress! Charles has already set the ground work in motion, think of the first shot at Concord heard around the world, everyone thought that the Colonists were crazy, after all no one could beat the worlds greatest military might, right? Charles has fired the first shot, the reality is this; Charles will take St. Mary's, Calvert and Anne Arundel county's, he doesn't have to win Prince George's or Charles, just make a strong enough showing, in an election that is going to be a low democratic turn out, to offset Hoyer's advantage there. I'll go out on the limb and say that Charles Lollar will be our next Congressman and win by 3 percenatge points!
chernmax| 9.7.10 @ 11:56AM
Steny needs to go, MD does not need an Obama/Pelosi lapdog anymore, come November, Steny will have little friends left in Congress anyway!!! Vote Charles Lollar

Just so people don't forget, Collins Bailey is running again this year. He was good candidate in 2008 and has had two years to tune his message to be a great candidate this year. Whoever wins the primary will be better for Maryland and the US than Hoyer, but I like Collins!
