Poetic Justice for Jesse

The Michigan View's Henry Payne tells of the ironic misfortune that befell Jesse Jackson, who led a "Jobs, Justice and Peace" rally with the United Auto Workers last weekend that promoted "green" jobs. Afterward the Cadillac Escalade SUV he was chauffeured in was stolen and stripped of its wheels:

Add Jesse to the Al Gore-Tom Friedman-Barack Obama School of Environmental Hypocrisy. While preaching to Americans that they need to cram their families into hybrid Priuses to go shopping for compact fluorescent light bulbs to save the planet, they themselves continue to live large.

“We need an economy that creates employment that can't be shipped overseas,” the Green Rev wrote for CNN about the march. “Home-grown American labor will be installing windmills and solar panels. A green economy is not an abstract concept.”

Let us remember where policies promoted by the likes of Jackson and the unions have brought Detroit.

The right Reverend, dressed oh, so natty,
Sided with the environmentally batty,
He said, "Let's go green!"
When he started to preen,
Realized the wheels had come off his Caddy!

It's not that unexpected nowadays, I saw a guy with a bloody head a year ago, and he told me he had been carjacked with a cosh.
Strangest thing is Jesse saying Obama should be neutered for suggesting black guys need to take better care of their children-- unless Jesse never actually said so.

Jackson's unfortunate comments were caught on tape and are easily googled.

Jesse Jackson, the great racial healer,
In his new role as Green Movement shpiel-er,
Later said, "Mercy me!
Behold my SUV,
Guess I'm not the one wheeler-dealer!"

Couldn't have happened to a nicer fellow.

Van Jones said that he wanted to "green the ghetto". Well, you can't get any greener than recycling someone else's car.

And in the Keynesian sense, think of all the people this act of generosity helped. The recycler who was paid by the fence. The fence who was paid by the people needing OEM parts and ultimately the consumer whose creativity to stop feeding the coffers of corporate America looked to his own initiative to get himself a deal.

I hereby nominate Jesse Jackson's car thief to replace Peter Orszag.

for the union to marching for green jobs is suicide...but the leadership is good at that.

union leaders in america are democrats first and union men second...they've fooded themselves into believing its the same thing. it isn't.

i been payin em dues for 33 yrs. and they just keep bending over and taking it in the ass from the tree huggers. its insane.

There once was a preacher named Jackson
Who jived to call people to action
But when he preened
About being green
His caddy lost all of its traction

Ned, you and Mad Hatter wrote three of the funniest short poems I've seen. Many thanks to both of you for the laughs!
