Not Too Bright

Congressman Bobby Bright (D-AL) has come up with a novel way of deflecting questions from his conservative constituents about whether he is going to support Nancy Pelosi for speaker in 2011: joke about the possibility that she may die.

Unless I'm missing a few light bulbs in my box, if the Republicans take over control of the House in November, NANCY THE BEOTCH will not be [as a member of the Democratic minority party] eligible to be voted in as Speaker of the House!!!!!!!!

Any reference to the death or ill will of an individual, is inappropriate. Whether Democrat OR Republican, such comments lack common sense & civility. It is up to all of us to tell elected officials, bureaucrats, media types, & others, plus the general public, that such references are unacceptable conduct & despicable speech. You have the right to say such things. That does not mean you should say them. Its like crying fire in a dark crowded theater. You have the right to do so. But, it is not wise, & you should & will be held accountable in one form or another if such speech leads to the harm of others.
Please note that the full report concentrated heavily on the positions the congressman has apparently taken in his voting record, and on the political leaning of his constituency. The 'media' had to focus on & emphasize that political leaning by often referring to those voters as 'conservatives.' This charade to demonize conservatives, is a typical partisan snipe tactic.
The 'reporter' (sic) fails to mention the many times "liberals" have called for or wished for the death of or for the physical injury to their political opponents. Perhaps they do not pray for such harm, since many liberals supposedly do not subscribe to prayer or any of that God stuff.
In the end, a Democrat made a very poor comment or reference to a member of their own political party, that was mean spirited & reprehensible that ill will or even death was used to make a joke or distance the politician from another.
