As bad as Sharron Angle’s numbers look in that Mason-Dixon poll, the fact is that Harry Reid is only getting 44 percent of the vote as an incumbent who is familiar to the voters. Incumbents don’t tend to do much better than they poll and Reid’s numbers have been abysmal for well over a year, while the less well known Angle has more room to fluctuate. And while there is a “None of These Candidates” option in Nevada, it hasn’t broken 5 percent in any recent statewide race and hasn’t gotten more than 3 percent in a Senate race since 1994. It’ll be difficult for none of the above to bail out Reid if he’s stuck in the low-to-mid 40s. Though it did get signifcantly more votes than Reid’s 428-vote margin over Jon Ensign in 1998.

Red State has some analysis of this poll, which brings into question its validity.

Reid leads, or Mason Dixon understating Angle again?

Lullabys, Legends and Lies| 7.16.10 @ 4:58PM

I don't care what this poll has to say, because even from here in NC, I can smell the blood in the water coming from Harry in Nevada. Harry's done, finished, over, kaput!! He's going to be joining Tom Daschle on the Golf Course come January. Hell, I hear that they've got Tee times already in South Dakota!! I'm being a bit sarcastic here, the People of Nevada still have to go vote him out of office on 2nd November (don't forget to Vote!!), but after that, he's consigned to oblivion, and it couldn't happen to a nicer piece of Senator!!

Bob| 7.16.10 @ 6:10PM

As much as I want Reid to lose, the fact of the matter is the primary voters of Nevada nominated the ONLY major candidate in the race that Reid had a chance to beat. Does anyone think Sue Lowden would have be this far behind to Reid? Frankly, I am sick and tired of the so-called Tea Party candidates. Rand Paul and Sharron Angle are turning out to be absolute disasters. There is a decent chance Rand Paul will get beat in a state, my home state, that voted against Obama by a 20% margin. He seems unable to go a day without saying something stupid and politically tone deaf, thus making him vulnerable to defeat by a candidate, Jack Conway, that Trey Grayson would have beat by 15%. The apple didn't fall far from the quasi-Truther, racist-newsletter- writing tree in Rand's case.

And while the analysis of the Mason-Dixon poll at Redstate is not done by Erick "Litmus Test" Erickson himself, I have now begun to completely ignore anything on that site because of him. Erickson may be the shrillest, most off-putting blogger on the entire right side of the spectrum. I get so sick and tired of bloggers who would rather see the Democrats maintain their majority than vote for candidates that can actually win in a general election in a particular state. While it would be nice to have the most conservative candidate win an election, unless you are running for Senate in Idaho, Wyoming or Utah, you are going to take a beating at the polls, and in the general election (particularly in a state that is increasingly turning purple as Nevada is), as soon as the electorate finds out you advocated for getting rid of Social Security and Medicare. Angle has about as much political and campaign savvy as Creigh Deeds, a flaw that increasingly seems fatal, particularly when you consider she is running against a guy who has more money than Midas to put towards his reelection campaign. So now the whole country will have to pay for the stupidity, for lack of a better word, of the idiots who pushed for Angle's primary election based on her Tea Party Stamp of Approval.

As admirable as the Tea Parties may have been during the health care debate, they definitely jumped the shark when they pushed Paul and Angle over the top in the primaries. Now I find myself wishing they would just go away.

Lullabys, Legends and Lies| 7.16.10 @ 7:32PM

Is this old Bobby V from "what exit?" New Jersey (aka 3/5)? So the Tea Party has jumped the shark huh? I didn't know that!! And now I feel like such a fool, for continuing to drain my bank account supporting Candidates who have their "stamp of approval". So now, because the Health Care Bill, umm, I mean Law is forever lost, I guess everybody who showed up in Washington D.C. on 9/12 should just accept defeat then, huh? We were a one trick pony anyway, so now that it's all over, we should "just go away".

Well I don't have a degree in Mathematics, nor do I have a MBA from Harvard, so I'm not that smart a man, hell some people think I'm an "idiot", who suffers from "stupidity". But because of being a stupid idiot, I guess I'll stick to my one trick pony until I'm out of money, or November comes (whichever comes first!!). But now that I know where you stand on the Tea Party, maybe it's time for me to send some money to Sharon Angle again (remember, I'm a stupid idiot!!). I still have a few bucks left in the bank just collecting dust, so why not? Thanks Bob.

Ole Sarge| 7.17.10 @ 12:28AM

Well, it is convient to blame it on the Tea Party crowd, but if you get your wish, more of the same ole R crowd, you will get one heck of a sweep come 12, and it won't be us.

They will do as they have already done, act like dim lite and spend like mad fools and work with the dims who don't obviously have our best interest at heart, The RNC is not the friend of the Conservative.

Bluguy | 7.17.10 @ 6:48AM

It doesn’t do any good voting for the "safe" candidate just because there’s an R behind his name when he’ll tiptoe around the issues of substance (ie: the fact that wealth-transfer programs like social security and medicare threaten to bankrupt the country) and go-along-to-get-along with the social-democrats.
Case in point: Republican control from 2003-2007 doesn’t appear to have reduced the deficit, increased personal liberty or limited the size of government much, if at all.
Frankly, I'd rather vote for a yokel who is willing to let me live my own life than an intellectual who wants to tell me how to live.

Jeff| 7.17.10 @ 10:19AM

Rand Paul won't lose in Kentucky and it's a great win no matter what happens in Nevada. If Angle wins, Republicans can beat on the SDP unmercifully. If Harry wins, Barry has to drag this loser into 2012. No matter what McConnell will have the votes to shut down Hairball without the idiot Repubs from Maine and Mass.

Bob| 7.16.10 @ 6:13PM

In my above comment, I wrote the following sentence:
"Does anyone think Sue Lowden would have be this far behind to Reid?"

It should read:
" Does anyone think Sue Lowden would be this far behind Reid?"

Truthseeker| 7.16.10 @ 8:40PM

Yes! They are both nuts! Angle for just being Angle and Sue "Chicken Lady" Lowden - 'nuff said. Harry will cruise to victory over rough seas, but he will still win.

Ole Sarge| 7.17.10 @ 12:30AM

Y9u folks on the left, don't start counting your chickens before they hatch.

Nate| 7.16.10 @ 6:23PM

Sharon Angle is kind of a moron, don't you think?

I mean, at what point do you actually evaluate the candidate's abilities?

This woman talks like someone who just doesn't know anything about the world. True, she doesn't sound as clueless as Sarah Palin, but again, the question becomes, When do her actual abilities figure into your assessment of her?

Tim*| 7.16.10 @ 6:44PM

Nate is kind of a moron, don't you think?

I mean, at what point do you actually evaluate this clown's sanity .

This horses rump talks like someone who just doesn't know anything about the world. True, Nate doesn't sound as clueless as Obama , but again, the question becomes, When does Nate's actual neurosis figure into your assessment of this Buffoon ?

Nate| 7.16.10 @ 6:49PM

How creative. Tim, have you ever read Breakfast of Champions? You should. And when you do, you should pay special attention to Vonnegut's picture of an asshole. I think you'll see something (*) familiar.

Tim*| 7.16.10 @ 8:09PM

Indeed Nate !

I did and you're right . It's You with your rump shaved walkin' backwards.

Tim*| 7.16.10 @ 6:39PM

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is creeping forward and now is nearly tied with Republican Sharron Angle in his bid for reelection in Nevada.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Nevada finds Angle with 46% support, while Reid earns 43% of the vote. Six percent (6%) like some other candidate in the race, and five percent (5%) remain undecided.

This is Reid’s best showing all year and follows a visit by President Obama to the state to help his campaign.

Nate| 7.16.10 @ 6:47PM

If Republicans had run a moderate Republican with a more main-stream appeal, you guys wouldn't even be watching polls by now. You'd be drinking champaign - or whatever it is Republicans drink (Coors?) -- and sailing to Election Day. Instead, you've run this wingnut and Reid has an okay chance of coming back to win this thing.

Is it really worth it? You've nominated someone that had to SCRUB her website of her entire political philosophy and replace it with phony sounding BS. Yet she still says bizarre things and seems completely untrustworthy.

There are a lot for Republicans who are decent, honest, thoughtful folks, and I'm sure Nevada has plenty of them. Why run someone like Angle?

Tim*| 7.16.10 @ 8:18PM

Because she's beating your Democrat Senate Leader , as we speak .

Next !

truthseeker| 7.16.10 @ 8:42PM

Let's not forget that tea bagger darling, Rand Paul!

Michael L. Hauschild| 7.16.10 @ 7:15PM

I've got nothing better to do till the lead gets molton for the Ranch Dog 165311 so I'l keep score.
LLL and Tim* - 3
Bob and Nate - 0

Truthyness| 7.16.10 @ 7:18PM

What a bunch of pantywaists. I'm not impressed with Angle either, but Sue Lowden was, if anything, even dumber (though more moderate). Tarkanian was probably the best bet, but was boring as could be.

According to the Rasmussen, Angle is 3 ahead, so I wouldn't necessarily say the roof has fallen in. Even in the other poll, Reid is still below 45% and he's been spending like an SOB.

Angle needs to get on the air, go after Reid, avoid saying anything really stupid and survive a debate. In this environment she really has the advantages.

Rand Paul is not going to lose in KY. Might have in another year.

Crooz8er| 7.16.10 @ 7:50PM

All R candidates should do is play the King Shabazzawazza rants about killing white babies over and over, then fade in the OKenyan, Eric the Cowardly, and whatever D candidate they are facing.

Nate| 7.16.10 @ 9:15PM

Always good to hear from the white supremacist contingency of the Republican party. You're still in the minority -- even over there -- Crooz, but keep plugging away, maybe you'll get somewhere.

Crooz8er| 7.17.10 @ 7:42AM

So Nate was it "Black Supremacy" that led to the James Byrd ads against Bush in 2000? Stupid libtard. Always denying reality.

Got a little lesson for you though, you and your black racists keep calling for the killing of White babies and you dumbasses do more for Klan membership than anything a "White Supremacist" could ever do.

Nate| 7.17.10 @ 10:14AM

Crooz --

I can't decide if you're more boring than you're stupid, or more of an ignoramus than you're a douche bag. Unfortunately I haven't got time to work it out. Why don't you get busy on the problem and get back to me sometime next week.

Jeff| 7.17.10 @ 10:26AM

Nate
What public employee union do you belong to?

Crooz8er| 7.17.10 @ 8:59PM

Haha what's wrong Nate? Folks not cowering away when you self-haters yell "racist" anymore?

Tell ya what, why doncha send my question to your handlers at moveon.org and see what kind of talking points they can come up with?

Libtards are SCARED! And when little feminized "men" get scared, they yell "racist." When that doesn't work, they stick their TINY tails between their legs and run. Haha!

Nate| 7.19.10 @ 1:36AM

"Self haters"? You mean "race traitors," don't you?

You have no idea how ignorant and foolish you sound, and I confess I have no idea how to get through to you. All I can do -- since reason would never prevail -- is urge you to seek religious instruction or psychiatric help, or both.

Crooz8er| 7.19.10 @ 7:50AM

Haha! Answer the question Nate. Was the James Byrd ad an example of "Black Supremacy?" You have no idea how much you sound like a scared little p*ssy when all you can do is come back with name-calling. Like a little schoolgirl on the playground.

Reason? Hardee har har. Reason to a libtard is like garlic to a vampire. You all have NO INTEREST in reason. You get pissy when I use YOUR "reasoning" against you, and all you can do is call names.

I'll tell you how you can "get through to me" Nate, and we'll see if you have any interest in debate. You can "get through to me" by answering the question I posed to you. If using an ad featuring the NBPP calling for the killing of White babies is an example of "White Supremacy" was the actual James Byrd ad an example of Black Supremacy?

Seems pretty simple to me. Answer the question.

bert| 7.16.10 @ 8:59PM

Mason Dixon has cooked up two outlier polls for the same client LV review and came up with the same unique results showing Reid ahead by reporting lower Angle poll figures than any other poll ever conducted YTD.
I think its safe to say that Mason Dixon got a strict series of criteria from the PAYING Client the LV review which apparenlty wanted the Reid being ahead results back in May and Now .
Its called a push poll conducted to back into the predetermined desired results.
I think both the LV review and Mason Dixon have some explaining to do since a review of the
detial poll data show only a supposed only a 70 % GOP support for Angle against Reid ! Please spare us that BS statistical lie but how you properly cook a push poll.

martin j smith| 7.17.10 @ 8:20AM

First off we are not yet on election day. Second, there are many polsters, trust only those that have a proven record of honesty and reliability. Ramussen called Obama by 6% winner and he was right on or close enough. Just one example.
A incumbent even being edged i9s not a good sign
especially one who has been around too long.
There are troll out there who I would dismiss out of hand.
Remeber this for a newbe to poll close ahead of a guy who has big bucks means potentially bad news for Reid. The important thing is the home stretch after laborday, get out the vote and stop voter fraud.

Stan Redmond| 7.17.10 @ 9:59AM

With the dead vote, the illegal alien vote, the domesticated animal vote, the felon vote, and the under 18 vote will put Reid over the top. They are the democrats' most loyal voters.

martin j smith| 7.17.10 @ 11:04AM

As I said: Get out the vote and stop the voter fraud !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oldefarte| 7.17.10 @ 11:14AM

If Nevadians don't take this opportunity to replace Dirty Harry, they [and this country] will suffer immeasurable harm [his past is noting compared to what he can do going forward, combined with the other two amegios]!!!!!!!!!!

martin j smith| 7.18.10 @ 7:47AM

Oldefarte: I agree with you there. This is why say from laborday onward--that is the election season crunch time getting out the vote, stop voter fraud and actually voting is crucial in Nevada and in every nook and cranny in this country--In this years election ANYONE is better than ANY DEMOCRAT.

Oldefarte| 7.18.10 @ 10:17AM

Martin, Amen, I couldn't agree with you more............and our country depends on it!!!!
