Reason’s Nanny of the Month is Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Human Rights James Kirkpatrick, for outlawing Ladies’ Nights at bars on the basis that they discriminate against men:

My understanding, though, is that men love Ladies’ Nights too, because…they get ladies into the bar. I bet if you took a poll of men they would be solidly pro-Ladies’ Night.

True dat. When I was in grad school the most popular night for guys to go to the local bar was "ladies night," precisely because the bars were full of women.

Bruce is the green freak on the left.

Since I would think that every night is men's night at gay men's bars in Minnesota, does this mean this helpful hannah will require gay men's bars to reach out to woman? You know, maybe a tax right there at the bar on the men, so that the woman can be enticed with free drinks. Making it, um, ladies night? Or close them down for they can never reach the required quota?

And are now woman's clubs to be shut down for having no men?

And perhaps Mary Kay parties stopped for having no men?

Or will the Minnesota Twins be required to have 50% woman, to level the playing field?

What other efforts can be done by the state to make sure than men and woman are treated exactly equal?

The list is endless Commissioner Kirkpatrick. You're falling down on the job.

Ladies' Night is the best way to avoid finding onself in a dude ranch.

Attempts to justify rank discrimination - no matter how put - fall flat. Women cannot have it both ways - either they are equal and thus have the same responsibilities as men - or they are not. Women walk into mens bathrooms all the time, which they justify by saying "the line at the ladies room is too long!" Bullshit - direct the ladies rooms to be enlarged, then. Can a man enter a ladies room when the lines at urinals are too long? Not unless you want to go to jail you can't. Why should a woman pay half price or less for a drink when a man has to pay full price? Under what moral imperative is this justifiable - or legal? If she's so hot one of these adolescents think this is reasonable, she souldn't be buying her own drinks anyway - one of these turds will be buying them, hoping she'll follow through with personal service. Like that'll happen.

So glad I'm NOT the LUCKY little woman in your life, Brucie. What a doll you are--as in "Chucky" the doll.

It's a private business persuing profit. It's none of your business or some government regulator's business to interfere.

What next? End senior citizen discounts at IHOP?

Bruce is an asshole.

The luck is mine, skank. You're one of those who thinks reverse discrimination is just fine I take it.

Hey - good luck with the adolescents you meet in those bars, honey. Some fine catches to be made there. Probably just your type, though - an easy lay after a hard night downing those jello shots!

If one refuses to recognize the biological difference between the sexes, and if one is resentful of the imperatives of chivalry, and if one cannot acknowledge the right of private institutions to set customer policies, then one is a jackass.

I don't think old Bitter Brucie Boy will ever be offered a seat at the Round Table; Sir Lancelot he's not! The creepy loser sounds more like a serial killer to me.

But, on the other hand, Dai Alanye; YOU sound like a prince! Night and day.

And men say we're a mystery.

Stan Redmond| 7.5.10 @ 11:03AM

I discriminate everyday i'm in business. I only sell my services to people that CAN AFFORD my services and products. It is in my best interest to discriminate as little as possible so more people can buy my products and afford my services. If I offer a two for one for new customers or a free consultation (discounted drinks for women) I am discriminating against all my existing customers (men paying full price). Is that wrong for me because it maximizes my profits and increases my client base? Is it up to YOU or a bureaucrat who knows ZERO about my business to force me to treat all my customers the same? Where I see opportunity or a business venture you and other government nannies see discrimination. Frankly, you sound like a liberal.
